You've probably heard a lot about Shopify.

Just to give you an idea of its popularity, there are 600,000 active store on Shopify at this very moment. Their market ranges from entrepreneurs to major businesses.

The Shopify platform is a simple way for you to set-up your own online store. If you have products that you want to sell, you can use Shopify to easily make them available to your customers. Whether you're a crafter, artist, designer, writer, photographer, or anything else, you can put your products online in a beautiful, professional website.

Shopify offers a couple of pricing plans. The Basic Shopify Plan is $29.00 per month, Shopify is $79.00 per month, and the Advanced plan is $299 per month. Each plan offers features suitable for different levels of business. For example, the Advanced plan offers gift cards, additional staff accounts, and reduced fees per transaction. Each plan allows for an unlimited number of products, unlimited file storage, shipping label discounts and a retail package if needed. Here is breakdown of each plan:

Lite: $9 per month for credit cards rates of 2.9% + 30¢, a Shopify buy button to sell on Facebook, point of sale integration, fraud analysis, order creation and shipping codes, one staff account. It does not include an online store.

Basic Shopify – $29 per month, credit card rates of 2.9% + 30¢, including everything in the Lite plan with an online store and blog, 24/7 support, fraud analysis, order creation, discount codes, and a free SSL certificate, two staff accounts.

Once you have decided on a plan, you'll have access to over 100 themes, as well as hundreds of apps and features. You can use them to sell your products, process payments, create financial reports, integrate with your point of sale, track your orders, create email marketing, offer rewards, and target ads. It has so much to offer and is really simple and intuitive, which means that you can focus on what's really important: running your business.

Shopify simplifies selling, with apps for helping you with taxes, detailed financial reports and clean, simple invoices.

If you are looking to sell products in person then you can opt for Shopify POS (point of sale). This includes everything you need to sell your products both on and offline. It includes an iPad app, which you can use in conjunction with a credit card reader to swipe the customer's credit card. You can also purchase a cash register, a receipt printer and even a barcode scanner, so everything is nicely integrated into your website.

Shopify is one of the most secure web hosting platforms. This is because it is a 3rd part platform, opposed to platforms like Magento with are open source.

If you use an open source platform with lots of different plugins for additional features, you will need to update and maintain each plugin yourself. If you do not, your security risk increased. Each time Shopify updates its security, the update is applied to all of their customers automatically and immediately, without you having to do anything. This means that your sites is currently covered by high security to prevent against fraud or malware.

It also offer 24/7 customer support, so you can be sure that anytime you run into a problem, professionals will be on hand to help with your queries.

Shopify is a really great, professional service. The quality of the Shopify service means that fees are pushed up in comparison to other platforms. If you're running your business on a budget, then maybe take a look at some other platforms as well. We really recommend Squarespace.
