In this essay I will hope to reflect deeply on my personal involvement in the creation of my groups presentation. The reason for this work is to deliniate my own encounters of working in a gathering and to give a point by point record of this experience. I expect to utilise the work of Belbin and his work on group jobs to make a correlation and potentially point out similarities with my own involvement to his work. I will end this article closing what is required for me to enhance my team working aptitude’s which can prompt expanded group efficiency in both the long haul and present moment.

Belbin’s theory on team roles goes into great depth as his theory provides nine high detailed team roles. The team role that I felt that most related to my strengths was the coordinator role. The coordinator is one of Belbins nine theories, the coordinator role being the person needed to focus on what the teams objectives are, draw our team members and delegate work appropriately (Belbin.com, 2018). The strength of the coordinator and mines related so much because the strengths of the coordinator are being mature, confident, identifies talent, and clarifies goals (Rijnbergen, 2018). I had taken it upon me to delegate tasks to other members of the group due to my natural position of a coordinator. I gave my Group the opportunity to pick tasks out of the options I provided for them. Furthermore this became my job as the coordinator I became the team leader for my group and Belbin states that giving out jobs or sorting is left to the team leader (Belbin, page 63, 2004). Why I believe the role suits me best and illustrates my role within the group is because I am very motivated and determined in the way things happen in my group. This being said I had to use my initiative and delegate tasks so that tasks were completed efficiently. These are key characteristics as Belbin states, whilst my own personal experience of this group task led my colleagues to realise that it was clear to them that my role in the group was confidently filled. Belbin, however states that the weakness of someone in a coordinator role, is that they can sometimes over delegate and leave themselves little work to do. Furthermore, someone in the coordinator role can be seen as manipulative and seen as someone who offloads their own Share of work (Mindtools.com, 2018).These negative traits are not the ones that correlate with my limitations on amongst group work. The weakness that I possessed within my group management presentation was that my timetable was somewhat busy compared to other members of the group which meant that I was inflexible thus causing incompatibility amongst my colleagues who schedules clash with mine. There is another role that Belbin refers to who’s weaknesses were the same ones I possessed. The role mentioned by Belbin that I am referring to is the implementor; inflexible and less open to reacting to fresher opportunities. Due to the fact that I was inflexible due to my timetable it became difficult to set a meeting all the group members could be present at same time. By virtue of my inavailability we were losing the time to work on the presentation as a group and making a presentation to the highest quality. Personally, I thought that I lacked communication skills and thus contributed to negative effects on the organisational skills of my group. This could have had negative effects on my groups presentation as a whole affecting the productivity and efficiency of our group.

Greener’s growth model states how a failure or a lack of coherent communication is the start of a crisis of leadership. Although to an extent this model correlated to the basic level of communication our group possessed. I highly disagree with the notion that me or my group faced any real crisis. This is because although we faced difficulties by channeling all our individual strengths and developing a sense of cohesion, we were easily able to overcome any major crisis that threatened to derail the completion of our presentation. The unique ability we obtained was essential in our group. Concluding this reflective summary of my personal experience I had with my group during this process the presentation I have found out something I’d do differently.
