Essay: Application essay: Engineering

Firstly I would like to introduce myself as an undergraduate student of the bachelor of engineering program from the Info institute of engineering, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai INDIA. I have completed my course of engineering in the field of ‘Electrical and Electronics Engineering’, which was for a period of four years and in addition to that, I graduated in the first class.
During second year of my undergraduate study, as part of my academic training, I undertook hands on training on ‘industry ready engineering’. In this value added training, I learned PCB designing and manufacturing industrial electronics training. In addition to that, as a part of this training, I visited PCB manufacturing company and pump motor manufacturing industry. It was my first live experience in industrial visit. It makes me anxious and also curious to know sequential functions and working of electrical machine component. During third year, I underwent in-plant training at VALUTHUR GAS TURBINE POWER STATION, INDIA which was under the control of state government. Here, I saw the practical implementation of what I read theoretically and importantly I got an opportunity to interact with domain specialists, familiarized to various modelling challenges, optimization and diagnostic techniques.
During my final academic year, I executed a project titled ‘AUTOMATION METHOD FOR OPTIMIZATION OF PLASITC INJECTION MOULDING MACHINE USING PLC TECHNIQUE’ under the guidance of my mentor and the project was a grand success scoring 100% and was among the top three projects nominated for the best project award.The main aim of the project was to implement automation in small scale industry to reduce the manual work and proportionally to increase in productivity so as to reduce the inventory costs and enable the industry to forecast accurately for the period ahead. In order to highlight the project we published our work as a journal in INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCED RESEARCH TRENDS IN ENGINEEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (IJARTET), VOL II. The undergraduate course as well as my practical training has provided me with a steady base for further growth in any of my desired fields. I would like to delve deeper into the fields of my choice and their technical aspects completely.
As an individual I enhanced my leadership skill through attending and conducting seminars. I have been elected as the student coordinator and under my leadership a national level symposium has been arranged and a student’s magazine was published which consists of several achievements of the fellow students of the department. Apart from my academic curriculum I voluntarily participated and involved to conduct and be parts in several inter and intra departmental function. My passion towards photography makes me to join in the photography club of our college and I presented my work in some college contest. In our college I got recognition by nominating my photo work among top three photos. In addition to that I am an active member in NGO named happy hearts initiated by our department seniors. During my academic year I was a member of ROTARY CLUB in our college and that gave me a benefit to attend seminar program conducted by ROTARY CLUB of COIMBATORE which gives me inspiration to be a captivate leader. I have organized Industrial visit for my fellow class mates for the last two year where I found to be a veteran of satisfying incongruous needs.
It is my belief that knowledge gained has to be shared. I believe that imparting knowledge is an enjoyable and satisfying experience. I have enjoyed giving ideas, lectures and making presentations on technical/non technical topics at college and at the workplace. I have represented my college and participated in many inter-college competitions and in that some of my presentations are awarded for my excellence Hence, I am eager to obtain an assistantship.
I wish to contribute towards these areas and indulge in research which ultimately should have a meaningful contribution to science and technology. I am confident that my academic capability and analytical skills coupled with my perseverance, attentive and single minded devotion will see me through to this goal. I have chosen the graduate program to further my interests. Consequently, I understand that the choice of the University is of paramount importance.
After perusing your brochures and consulting my professors, I reached the conclusion that with its reputed faculty, excellent facilities and tradition of academic excellence will be the ideal place to work towards the fulfillment o my goal. Moreover, I am confident that the wholesome education that I will receive at the will stand me in good stead throughout my career. I am fully aware that yours curriculum requires that I summon all my resources and I aver that I have the necessary commitment, potential and stamina to look forward to do it all. I am convinced that my study at your department would be meaningful and rewarding experience. The other reason why I want to study at your esteemed college is that it provides the kind of expose needed to broaden my thinking and curriculum. Your college is a confluence of people from every nationality, religion and race. Overall development of the personality can be done and it helps me to broaden my concept from the narrower confines of nationalism to internationalism. I look forward to have a long and profitable association with your esteemed college. I especially thank you for giving me the opportunity given me to express about myself.
