Although there are numerous problems with the environment today, there are plenty of steps everyone around the world can take to further help it for the sake of our youth and eventually their youth as well. The environment is defined as the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates. Many scientists around the world believe that if nothing is done to improve the way people treat the environment, sooner or later it will have a negative impact in our everyday lives. I believe there needs to be a change in the way everyone looks at the environment because it is very important to not just us, but also the people that are after us. Some things the world can do to help this environment is to replace all fossil fuels with renewable energy, replanting trees, conserving what is left of natural forests, and protecting and restoring wildlife habitats.

Air pollution is a huge problem not only in America, but all around the world. It might not be as bad here in America, but If somebody takes a look at New Delhi right now, inhaling the air there is the equivalent to smoking fifty cigarettes a day. Air pollution is mainly caused by carbon dioxide. Though all living things emit carbon dioxide, the main source comes from cars, planes, and power plants. Another gas polluting the earth is methane, which comes from swamps and gas emitted by livestock. Most agree that to get rid of global warming, more people need to recycle, conserve energy, and also drive and fly less. What we can also do to help out the environment is take shorter showers and turn the sink off when we brush our teeth.

Forests are being destroyed almost everywhere, especially in the tropics. They cover just about thirty percent of the land area on Earth, and every day there are more and more of them being added to the list of has-beens. Not only do forests produce vital oxygen for everyone, but they also provide homes for people and wildlife. The most common reasons for forests being destroyed are cattle ranching, oil and soybean plantations, and also other agricultural monocultures. Roughly 1.6 billion people rely on the benefits that forests can offer which include food, water, and shelter. What we the people can do to save the forests are conserving what is left of natural forests and also restoring some of the destroyed areas with new trees.

Wild animals are constantly being hunted and killed each and every day, along with entire fish populations. These animals are mostly being hunted for bush meat, ivory, or even medicinal products. The destruction of habitats is also a major factor contributing to extinction. Why does it matter if there are less species in the world? A short answer would be that we are deeply dependent on other species. We rely on biodiversity four or very own existence. Without bees, nearly 33% of the crops in the world would not be pollinated, therefore we would have much less to eat. If enough “living connections” are broken, ecosystems as a whole could be forever altered, which leads to our own lives being jeopardized or cut short. What we can do to fix the species extinction is to protect and conserve all habitats to the best of our ability.

Everything on the planet is interconnected in some way. Environmental issues should be an area of concern that everyone thinks about because it is very important to keep this world safe for as long as possible. Fixing pollution, conserving wildlife habitats and replanting trees is just a small step on the grand scale of things. While there have been a lot of efforts done by people who are concerned and interested to limit the damage being done to the environment, we can still do a lot more. It is going to take a good amount of time to completely resolve all of the problems that the environment has, but Rome was not built in a day. It is the responsibility of everybody to save and protect the environment. A great and quality environment can be executed by continuous planning and participation by everyone.
