“TELEVISION”

Introduction
The word “Tele” means “from a distance”, and the word “vision” means “something able to see”. These words combined to make a new word “Television”, and that means, “a signal that transmits from far distance to a hardware system that displays visual images and produce sounds”. Nowadays, we can find Television almost in every homes around the world. But, around 100 year ago, nobody even knew there would be a system called Television. In 1947, there were few thousand Americans, who used to own Television. Before the invention of the Television, people used to use Radio to communicate, and used to use for entertainment. The invention of the Television brought huge impact on human culture. People hardly use radio now.
History
There are lots of differences between the television that was invented 100 years ago and the modern television. People used to use the television for entertainment purposes then, now the modern television is being used for every little little things. People use modern Smart television for video call, to access their social media profiles, to stream videos from their phones, to play games and lots of small activities. The various types of televisions were discussed below:
Mechanical Television
This is the first kind of Television ever built. It was invented during 1920s. It was the system that used to depend on the mechanical scanning device. The device has a rotating disk with holes on it, the disk scans the scene and creates the video signal at the transmitter side and there is another mechanical device to display the picture at the receiver’s end. This type of Mechanical Television is not available in the market nowadays.
Electronic Television
The first Electronic Television was invented in 1927. This televisons are also called CRT televisions. This kind of Televisions has a cathode ray tube (CRT) inside the television. CRT television systems take the signals and break them into two components, audio and video. The audio component feeds into the audio circuit, and the video component is sent to separate circuit. And then the process fires electron beams through the cathode ray tube, that steers electromagnets back and forth across the screen, and that results displaying picture on the screen.
This type of televisions were heavy and large and it was hard to carry. At first, there were Black & White Electronic Television, which used to display black and white pictures. Later in 1946, Color Electronic Television came in the market. People started loving this new mode of vision. After few years, wireless remote was introduced, people starte suing remote to cahnge the channels far ftom televisin.
LCD Television
The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions have millions of tiny picture elements which is called pixels, that combines together to form a picture. These pixels can be switched off or on electronically. Every pixels are made of three sub pixels – red, blue, green. The main difference is, these are flat screen televisions and are less heavy than CRT televisions.

Disruption
Mechanical televisions were not so famous among people in 1920s. Those systems were hard to move, and also the mechanical system cannot adjust rapidly that results into unstable picture or video. Then black CRT televisions were introduced, where only black and white pictures were displayed. Then came color CRT TVs , where color pictures were displayed. Then came LCD TVs. Until this version of the television, traditional antennas and cables were being used to broadcast videos and pictures. A particular show used to come at a particular day and time on a particular channel, people used to wait.
With the development of the television, picture quality and sound quality got improved, many new technologies were introduced in the television. Before the invention of the smart tv, for the traditional CRT and LCD televisions, people use to use the antennas to broadcast videos on the television. People used to pay to the antenna company providers.
Impacts
Invention of the smart tv, brought many impacts in our society. Television is not same anymore, it became smart, it acts smart. Smart tv has its own operating system. It behaves like a computer. It has its own storage and volatile memory. It can install applications like a smart phone does. People prefer up to date technology, thats why people are buying smart tv. According to wikipedia, in the beginning of 2016, 29% of those with incomes over $75000 a year has a smart tv. The picture and sound quality in a smart tv are powerful and standard. For this reason, film producers, video makers, photographers started taking good qualities pictures and videos, so that viewers don't complain about the quality. Again, companies who make cameras, video cameras, and other equipments for creating video developed their equipments and technologies so that viewers can enjoy the proper and good view on the smart tv. Nowadays, people don't go for traditional cable to watch videos on their smart tv. People now subscribe to streaming applications, like Hulu, Netflix, HBO and they watch videos through this applications. People don't wait for a particular show at a particular time, they can now watch the show anytime using online streaming. People use their social media profiles, video call their friends on tv, while watching their favorite shows. These smart TVs brought significant changes in the society and to the TV industries.
Conclusion
After the invention of the television, people got a magic box for them to use daily for their entertainment, to keep them up to date about the current affairs in the world, to get the latest update on the weather forecast, to enrich their spiritual lives. There are many advantages, but there are some disadvantages too, for example, people sometimes imitate criminal activities they see on the television, and end up in trouble, watching television a lot is not good for the eyes.
With the development of the televisions, picture and sound quality got improved, and after the invention of the smart tv, the technology got far much better than traditional CRT televisions. But there are few disadvantages of the smart tv, for example, unlike traditional cable tv, tv should connect to a stable internet connection, if there is no internet connection, we cannot watch anything on the smart tv. There are security issues, for example, potential hackers can easily break into the files on our smart tv, this is a major concern of a smart tv.
