Humans were created and placed on top to rule the Earth. As a species, there is only one race, which is the human race. Even through humans display a cruel and destructive nature, humans have the potential to transform into. The most important word for the human race to remember is “humanity”. The word “humanity” defined in context to this essay is humaneness; benevolence. “Humanity” enables people to be compassionate, allows individualism, and incorporate ethnicity.

Humans are like coins, having two faces. On one side is the positive potential, but on the other side of is an abyss of darkness. Throughout history humans have been portrayed as creature of mass destruction, leaving their trail of despair as they pave their path to the future. The human race is plagued by sin: acts of transgression against divine law. In particular the seven deadly sins: Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. Humans are susceptible to the teachings of the evil. Humans lust for immoral sexual acts. The impurity of lust mutates one into "a servant of the devil". Humans overindulge in matters to the point of ruin. The amount of waste that humans conceive is heaping. Humans pollute themselves with the things they create. Greed is the desire of material possessions, which is more than ones needs. Humans strive to have everything money, clothes, cars, and etc.  Sloth is a lack of interest in exertion comprised of states (primarily mentally and physically). Humans are lazy creatures that don’t really care about what’s happening. Evil’s existence is due to the failure of “good” people actions. Wrath is an unrestricted feeling of rage. Human’s destructive nature is the main danger to their own existence. The leading death of humans are humans. Years of conflict and war over trivial things such as revenge, hatred, and etc. War is a continuous cycle of suffering that will has no ending. If someone takes someone else’s life, another individual will want retribution. Humans envy qualities, possessions, or desirable attribute belonging other humans. Envy is the desire to deprive other men of theirs. Envious people are joyous of other’s misfortune or grief at other’s prosperity. The idea of the cardinal sins takes our destructive passions for granted.

Humans were made to be compassionate creatures. Compassion is a sympathetic consciousness of other’s distress. It motivates people to go beyond to help ease the suffering of others. Humans base it on the cerebral notion of justice. Compassion is split into different qualities: wisdom, kindness, preservation, and resolve. A recent event that has devastated the Texas: hurricane Harvey. This category 4 hurricane shredded the coast line of Texas with 100 + mph winds, leading to widespread destruction of countless homes and buildings. At least 82 people announced dead as the result of the natural disaster. Life is a continual struggle to control emotions. It helps forge bonds between people and solidify that people are not self-conceited. Some people treat compassion with derision, thinking of it as a weakness among humans.

Ethnicity is the state of belonging to a group with common national or cultural tradition. Culture shapes humans identify and influences their behavior. Being able to recognize and respect the presence of other groups, acknowledging and values their differences, and encourages and enables their contribution which empowers society. Culture is a lens that humans use to view the world around them. The world is filled with people of different cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. Humans can view ethnicity from a negative perspective. If humans continue to categories and separate themselves, it can have a backlash. By having ethnicity, some humans see it as a form of segregation. On the contrary, it’s the opposite. Ethnicity is a way for people to be understanding and of other’s backgrounds so they can have a less difficult time coming together. For years before the Civil Rights movement, fellow Americans had two ways of views on ethnicity; either you’re white or colored. This segregated American as a whole, effecting communities of all colors. Segregation was institutional and constitutional, meaning that it couldn’t be struck down. “Separate, but equal” was their calling call. To overcome this adversity humans of all colors came together and fought against the tyrant know as segregation. Ethnicity is important to Americans because it reminds them of what has happened, and what will happen. Individualism is a social theory of freedom of action for individuals over collective control. Every human has a moral worth that is different from another. Just like a person’s fingerprint no one is identical. It’s the quality of being an individual. A lifestyle where there is a tendency to self-creation and experimentation, as opposed to following the cookie cutter outline. An individual in society attempts to learn and discover what their own interests are on a personal level. For humans to express their thought and opinion without being persecuted. Acts of individualism are usually small. People deciding for themselves that they won’t stand to be group together and go along with the social norms. A recent example in the American society: same-sex marriage. In the Obergefell case, the supreme court ruled in favor of legalizing same sex marriage. For years homosexuals had to “stay in the closet” about how they truly felt, and were institutional discriminated against. Everyone has the right to express themselves from to their hearts content.

Humans the ability to choose from the selection of alternative futures. In spite of the fact that humans aren’t perfect, they continue to recuperate and strive on. Despite the obstacles that face them, they take it head because humans are the temple of “humanity”. “Humanity” is what sets apart the human race from all other species. To have compassion for follow brethren, incorporate ethnicity, and express their individuality is why the “humanity” should be remembered. Think of humans as a mechanical machine. Without the cog of the “humanity” in a human, it's nothing more than a pile of flesh waiting to rot away.
