In our society some might say that human impact on our environment is very little but others like myself would disagree. The environment that surrounds us affects us especially what we breath and eat is what can harm us all plays a part in how our environment and how throughout our existence we have affected it in bad ways but in also good ways as well. Many of these impacts involve human population, urbanization, pollution, environmental laws and sustainability. These impacts are what this planet has become today and even though some of these impacts aren’t as good as they should be, hopefully soon we can find ways that allows us to help and adapt more to our planet.
To begin with human population growth started to increase as we started to come closer to more technology in the industrial revolution because we as humans were starting to get our feet wet when it came to new technology, we also didn’t know what harmful chemicals we were making and releasing into the atmosphere. According to the article “The Impact of Human Population” states “The most obvious issue with seven billion of us here is our profligate consumption of dwindling natural resources and the waste and pollution generated in the process. A recent joint study by the World Wildlife Fund and the World watch Institute found that humans now use 20 percent more renewable resources than can be replaced each year. while many would say that climate change has eclipsed overpopulation as the major issue of the day, others counter that atmospheric temperatures wouldn’t be growing as much if there weren’t so darn many of us burning so many fossil fuels”. Not only does the increase of human population affect our resources for food but it also affects how much energy consumption we use as a whole, the amount of unrenewable resources we use and how climate change is also the result of overpopulation.

Not only is human population about our growth as a species but how we impact our planet when it comes to pollution. Many of us hate the word pollution for it is something that has caused problems everywhere from people from different countries to wildlife. One example of pollution that has affects us is air pollution. According to the New York Times author Nicolas Bakalar’s “Air Pollution May Pose Serious Risks to Younger Children even of short duration, increases the number of lower respiratory infections, a new study reports and the effects may be particularly serious in young children. Acute respiratory infection of the lungs and airways, usually caused by viruses, are a leading cause of illness and death in young children”. These studies show the harmful effects of air pollution to younger children not only does this also affect children but it affects everyone because in the time period of the 1970’s the government decided it is important to not only provide clean air but to constrict regulations on car corporations to set a limit on the amount of emissions that can be permitted thats called The Clean Air Act.
Sustainability is also one of the bigger problems we face in human impacts of our planet because one of our problems with sustainability include using non- renewable resources like Petroleum. According to article author Blanc, R. stated “Humans are using up more resources and the amount and nature can’t replenish those resources fast enough to supply our needs. The atmosphere is also negatively impacted by population growth”. This quotation demonstrates one of the reasons why it is necessary to keep sustainability on non- renewable resources is because future generations will need it which is why we must learn new ways to create renewable resources so that we are able to reuse them without worrying that we might not have any left for the future, finding new ways also means less pollution as which means less using coal to make energy.

In conclusion, throughout history our involvement impact our environment can be debatable about it being mostly bad whereas we can make certain changes with how we treat our environment, everyone must know that we only have one planet and because we do we must take care of it.
