Introduction
This paper is going to talk about the topic of sexual aggression. Why do people conduct sexual aggression is one problem to worth conducting research, are they instinct or are those sexual aggression behaviors are fostered in their childhood or adolescent? This paper is divided into two parts, the first is examining the hypothesis of why people behave sexually aggressively and the second part is about the reflection of which aspect I have improved through learning the course.
I Research Analysis
The sexual aggression is one common problem in the world, which refers to one victim is involved to be forced to accept the sexual behavior. It seems that the reason for sexual aggression is complex to find, but the scientists are trying to find the most relevant information. This paper is to find what could cause people to behave in sexual aggression, the hypothesis is that something social could be the reason.
One point of view is that sexual aggression is related to the power, it is thought by female more attractive after the man maintains power. Some kind of men originally located in the relatively low hierarchical location, they shall perform as sexually aggressive after they maintain more social resources. Such kind of social phenomenon illustrates that they are changed due to the social unfair. The article Gendered pathways from child sexual abuse to sexual aggression victimization and perpetration in adolescence and young adulthood utilizes the survey and analysis method to examine the possibility of sexual aggression. The result of 2251 students in Germany including male and female illustrate that there exists a gendered effect in the sexual aggression. The slide inserted in the course suggests that there could exist both male victims and female victims. Female could be raped by when going out. At the same time, child sexual abuse is one of the most common sexual aggression. The data suggest that oral sex, vaginal sex, and anal sex could appear in sexual aggression (Krahé, & Berger, 2017). While the article Sexual Aggression Experiences Among Male Victims of Physical Partner Violence: Prevalence, Severity, and Health Correlates for Male Victims and Their Children compare the male victims have also experienced partner violence from women, these victims present with more serious symptoms and depression. When the men are sexually assaulted, the mental health of theirs and their children shall be negatively impacted (Hines & Douglas, 2016). The history that enables sexual assault, aggressive or impulsive personality traits, the alcohol used in large scale and the rape myth could all lead to sexual aggression (Davis et al, 2015). It shows that sexual aggression could be caused by some results, which are mostly social.
It could be found that these articles reveal that the gendered effects exist in the sexual aggression behaviors, which fits the knowledge learned from the course. As it could be found that the society is still dominated by the male so far, there appear more men to take such sexual assault. Women would be criticized as one vamp if they behave aggressively in sexual behaviors. It should be admitted that the world has not set the balance on how people treat men and women. The second fit these articles reveal is that the reasons are hidden behind that sexual aggression, the mental infringe in the childhood or adolescent could be counted as the main source. The second evidence is that the world witnesses much more girls are raped than the male, which means that more woman is the victims of sexual aggression. The past years have molded one male-dominated society where men have to strive for sufficient social resources so that they could own relevant prestige. That is why they are fostered more aggressive than the women because they have to fight for scarce resources. One new knowledge is that the social power structure is important to the right and expression in sexual behavior, those who could maintain much bigger power may be more possible to be aggressive in the sex. That is to say, the sexual behavior could illustrate the institutions in society could reflect on other behaviors. These articles answer my question which is about the social factors should be responsible for the sexual with yes. regression The authors have found that sexual aggression could have resulted from social factors, like alcohol using and traditional sexual views. But they do not why different sexual opinions revolve as history goes forward. Especially when the world spouts that people are born equal, then why different characterized people are created in the world has not been answered. Though the social issues are difficult to answer, future research could try their best to explore why people develop different sexual opinions. Would there any other social factors except the power structure affluence the sexual aggression remains researching.
The critical thinking mentions that 5w and 1 h formula, that is who, what, where, when, why, and how should be involved when one issue appears. The sexual aggression could involve what, who, and why aspects. As for the who aspect, those who execute the aggressive assault shall benefit from that behavior to some extent though such behavior is illegal. The victims of sexual aggression definitely have to bear the negative effects. The what aspect reveals that is there another alternative to the sexual aggression. The first is that could those people executing sexual aggression choose other methods to solve their mental pressure or problem. It is believed that it is as difficult to let those who commit the crime do not do so. The treatment on sexual aggression may be considered as one alternative, but it is not as that effective. The second tier of what aspect of sexual aggression is how such social deviance from, such an answer could help the society to understand how to cope with the sexual aggression. The problem of how aspect on sexual aggression involves how such abnormal sexual behavior arose, why some present but others have not. This has been partly answered by the literature review. Understanding the sexual aggression with critical thinking could help one comprehend it better, and society can achieve a better and rational solution to such abnormal sexual behavior. My personal opinion is that people shall not do harm to others while they could enjoy their own life. The question is that sexual aggression like raping others could do much harm to the victim, that is the reason why it is defined as illegal. One of the articles suggests that the power structure of the social impact how people perform in sexual aggression, which is quite in line with my personal opinion. I believe that the economical statues which are the ability to occupy social resources could impact gender relationships. At the same time, sexual aggression could be considered as the performance of the gender relationship. As women are required to take the job as housewives, they locate in a relatively weaker position. That is why there are more female victims reported in the sexual aggregation cases. But the imbalanced power structure also molds that men should be strong enough to bear pressure, that is why the article mentions that men may bear much serious negative impact as they could not say about those actions. The personal opinions and beliefs could be examined by reading more articles and thinking more, the famous social perspectives could also proofread them.
Above all, the sexual aggression is aggressive and one victim should bear that. Both male and female may suffer such sexual infringe, as the frequent children victim is not discussed in this paper. It should be admitted that sexual aggression is induced by a somewhat social reason, as the human is socially collected. The hypothesis of this paper is that sexual aggression has resulted from social factors. Some scholars believe that the alcohol, social tradition of rape, the power structure could cause sexual assault. As society is still male-dominated, it could be found that more female is insulted. However, the research of this paper reveals that male victims of sexual aggression should be paid attention. Because their mental health could also be impacted by that infringement, even more, serious than the female. The future research could be conducted on the aspect of how social factors influence people to behave socially aggressively, the corresponding way to modify such mental deviance. The most valuable research is to find ho could such behaviors are executed without hurting other members within the society.
II Reflection
It is my honor that I could learn this course, which has taught me a lot of professional effects on human sexuality. I would like to list my analysis on the paraphilia to illustrate two learning outcomes of mine.
The paraphiliac refers to the behavior which Amis to sexual arousal or gratification, which is compulsive and is not treated as normal in that culture. The society criticizes paraphilia as illegal, as there always exists one person who does not agree to conduct that kind of sexual behavior. At the same time, men find frequently in paraphiliac as women who behave abnormally in sex will be slut-shamed. Many psychologists have conducted research on the paraphiliac, some think that the childhood traumas could lead to dysfunctional behavior. Since it is treated as abnormal, there is corresponding treatment on paraphiliac. This paper shall conduct research on the paraphilias via reading relevant articles, proposing the hypotheses and check their legitimacy by corresponding methods. The hypothesis is that humanity has not made clear in the paraphiliac disorders, although there is some research concerning this disorder. The article written by Yakeley provides different diagnosis, assessment, and management on paraphilias, the author also believes that the origin of this disorder could date back to the adolescence. Such a fact means that people could perform based on their cognitive recognition in their childhood or teenage time. The article suggests that the empirical evidence for effective curing paraphilias, which provokes that the world still has a lot to do on this disorder. The cognitive-behavioral therapy, relapse prevention therapy, good lives model, and psychodynamic therapies are introduced to cure the paraphilias (Yakeley, 2014). The new knowledge learns from this article is that the etiology of paraphilias needs further elucidating, the service provisions on the legal paraphilia disorders still remain limited in the UK. The good thing is that the treatment provides sufficient confidentiality. Agalaryan and Rouleau (2014) hold the view that paraphilia coercive disorder is one unresolved issue, which is kind of similar to Yakeley's. The article of Agalaryan and Rouleau utilizes the sample analyzed by chi-square to examines the victim count hypothesis, finding that they may choose more intrusive sexual activities than other people. Which fits the point of view inserted in the chapter, which is that the those who are puzzled by such disorders may be aggressive.
This example illustrates that I have learned a lot in knowledge about sexual behavior via this course. The best skill I have learned that is to explore proper articles and analyze whether they suit my topic or not. It is necessary to read over one article carefully to check whether it is OK to fit my topic or not. However, I still need to invest more time in improving my English level so that I could better read relevant professional articles and analyze them. There has no end to learning to be better. I have to spend amounts of time to read those scholar articles who express their process of researching on the sexual behaviors, which could be accounted as the social issues. I find that social issues are interesting but complex.
