Wind Power: The Future of Energy

Wind power is going to take over the world in the upcoming years. In the past, we have used wind powered machines like boats and planes. We have come very far from this, we are now creating energy. Many people may not agree with this new alternative energy source but there are people who support wind power. Wind power has a very long history and has brought us a long way. Some people will not agree with it because they do not know any better but for the people that do understand will save money and will better the environment.

Wind Power History

Wind power has had a tremendous impact on humanity throughout history. The history of wind power goes way back. They used wind power to travel along rivers and streams including the Nile river in Africa(History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). Our ancestors had created the closest thing to a windmill and were able to use it as early as 5,000 B.C. The windmills they had created had not only helped them travel but helped them survive by growing crops and grinding up grain for food to eat (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). They had to travel miles in some towns to gather enough water to just get a gallon or two just to allow their family or just themselves to drink for a day, but one day they had figured out that using the windmill to pump water into the town would save them tons or times and miles walk.  The windmill is being utilized in the middle east for more of growing and producing crops (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). In 1,000 A.D the windmill technology has travel north to the european countries and they have utilized the technology to drain streams, rivers, and a marsh on the Rhine river in the delta (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.).

As wind power began to advance in the united states, Daniel Halladay and John Burnham were the first to claim the windmill that created power for a house. They had created the U.S wind engine company and created the Halladay windmill (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). They have created this design to be the landscape of the American West (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). Later on in time they had came across the idea of the steel/metal windmill blades. By using the new and improved steel/metal blades for the windmill they have proven to be more efficient (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). As more people had been moving west they would build a windmill to live in the area part time, building nearly six million windmills throughout the countryside (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). In 1941 during the WWII, We the Americans needed to provide our troops electricity, So we created the largest windmill turbine during the time period in vermont on a hilltop known as “Grandpa Knob” (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.). This windmill serviced the utility network over many months during the time period (History of U.S. Wind Energy. n.d.).

 Wind Power Controversies/ Supporters

As wind power can save the lives of millions, People will still disagree with the new advancements in technology. Some people in the world love to give their own opinions on topics they have no idea about. These people are against the change in wind power technology, They are going door to door, neighborhood to neighborhood in some states to get a petition signed to get the windmill companies to stop the production of changing there power source (Hardy, K., & Eller, D. 2017, April 24). There reasoning are not worth listening to. The only reasons they are giving are, Windmills are ugly, They are annoyingly loud, They can kill birds and bats, They make people sick, and takes farmlands out of production (Hardy, K., & Eller, D. 2017, April 24). Corporations do not enjoy the fact that windmills are taking over either. To build a windmill you need land and most land that is not owned has trees and trees provide shelter to animals, and that is why all animal savior companies do not like the idea of the windmill being built (Onion, A. n.d.). The 170 tall windmills that being built across cape cod are not being appreciated by the Animal caregivers of the massachusetts beaches. They are killing the birds and harming the fish and tourism (Onion, A. n.d.). Scientists are afraid of the windmill going up as well , They are afraid that a bad effect of this new energy will affect our energy policies, how we manufactures different materials, the economy as a whole, and the environment for decades. There is already more and more toxic waste in our ocean and this windmill may not help (Electricity customers pay for groups that lobby against clean energy, report says. 2017, July 09). Although people will not learn to like windmills some people will.

With a fair amount of Scientist, Companies, and People with not alot of intelligence of wind power, there is still a good amount of people who love the switch. Wind power companies themselves like the fact many people are making the switch because they are able to have to to pay bills and provide for not only themselves but their family too. Farmers also like the windmill because it will do their crops better than ever, For those farmers that are smart enough they build a windmill and will be free to use due to the engine being supplied by air making the windmill spin and work on their crops. The farmers like the windmill to keep the air clean and fresh near there farming fields as well and these windmills do just that. Windmills can help conserve water in the ground by sucking it up and pushing it into a much larger sprinkler system that the farmers use to grow their crops. For those people who understand nature and how its power is unlimited we have gathered today 20 times more than needed for the entire planet. And have it stored as a backup for the world if its needed. Due to the tons of wind energy we gather, making more and more everyday, the market is decreasing making it more affordable to the less fortunate and it still being a huge market margin for these companies.

Wind Power, The science behind it

People wonder many things, but they never understand things about wind power. Wind power is simple to understand, the more wind it has blowing on its propellers the more power it will have being stored. It may cost a lot to make the change over to wind power but in the end you will save hundreds even thousands of dollars when the switch is made. The best part about making the change to wind power is its an ever lasting natural part of this world that just occurs with mother nature and is a worldwide event happening everyday. Wind power will also savelife of many creatures and humans. We are having to burn less Fossil Fuels making the air we breath less harmful to our bodies. Making the change will also not harm sea creatures that don't live near the shore, it might even help them live in a cleaner body of water if wind powered companies use these turbines to clean up our bodies of water making a better environment.

The way wind controls this turbine is spectacular, the wind has to be able to put giant metal propellers around in circles all the time even when there is very little wind, but when there is absolutely no wind there is energy stored in large above ground tanks that and spread all around the main windmill. Scientists have evolved this design of wind turbine to rejenerate wind of its own, making these windmills spin on there own and being able to double its amount of energy needed for windmill to spin. This is also known as injecting an internal combustion turbine. These turbines have also been able to make a temperature change in some landscape settings. Windmills clean the ground atmosphere making it better for our towns and people near the windmill more healthy. But if there is a windmill in a location where the temperature change is very dramatic than it will cancel out.

Wind Power is going to take over, it's just a matter of when. Scientist and electrical engineers will need to keep making more history with wind power. One day everyone is going to need to learn to love such a great alternative power source. Hopefully, One day these scientist will use these windmills for a better alternative and be able to clean oil out of the ocean or be able to use it to redirect storms that will hit land and save many more lives and home from destruction.
