This essay explores the question, "How did the Vietnam War of the 1960s influence music coming out during and after the war?"

The essay explores the changes in music during the Vietnam War

This essay doesn't talk about other changes besides music which were influenced during the Vietnam War. It doesn't talk about how music was influenced in time periods during other wars or the time right before the war. To go into depth on the research question, we will use musical charts during and after the 1960s to see how music changed, we will use social changes in the US during the war when new genres of music became appearing.

  D. The investigation done in this essay leads to the conclusion that music was changed because of the War in Vietnam. Even though there is many more factors that could have led to the musical evolution in the 60s, the Vietnam War undoubtedly was a main factor of the changes in music in the 1960s.

Began during the Cold War as a proxy war between North and South Vietnam

   B. The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones were a rock band famous in the 1900s and early 2000s. They were known for their rebellious music and dark tone. Their song “Paint it Black” was written by the duo of Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.

The Rolling Stones were formed in London in 1962. The group consisted of Brian Jones (guitar and harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (vocals and harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass), and Charlie Watts (drums).

The band chose their name after a song made by Muddy Waters was named Rollin Stone.

The Rolling Stones have released 55 albums and have sold 200 million records.

 “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones, was a song released during the Vietnam War and tied with how many soldiers were feeling during the war.

Paint it Black was released in 1966 and it was received during turmoil because the Vietnam War had already been going on for 10 years and it was still going strong.

 Many soldiers were depressed like the man in this song.

 Many soldiers were feeling depressed because the war took a toll on the soldiers physically and mentally.

 This song also ties in with depression. Many people would go into depression and depression was starting to be taken seriously.

 At the time in Britain and in the US it was rare for songs to be rebellious as Paint it Black was.

 This song took the world by storm during the Vietnam War and it ties in with depression.

   D. How did Paint it Black influence society throughout the war?

The song Paint it Black ties in with depression and the Vietnam War.

This song was important to the topic of depression and the Vietnam War.

 Paint it Black was a song released during the Vietnam War which connected with many soldiers feelings.

 This song also ties in with depression itself as many people could feel the way the man feels.

 Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones in 1966 was tied in with the soldiers of Vietnam for reasons such as the documentary about the Vietnam War which had the song playing in the outro but also on more serious reasons.

 The song was very successful and is still listened to today.

Many artists make covers of this song and add their own twists to the song.
