The Nobel Peace Prize is an international award.

The Nobel Peace Prize was created by Alfred Nobel to recognize those “for the Greatest Benefit to Mankind”.

Alfred Nobel was able to start this award due to his wealth from inventing dynamite.

The Peace Prize is one of six awards given annually.

A seventeen year old was the youngest award winner in 2014.

There were 19 years were the Nobel Peace Prize was not given out.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee selects the Prize winners.

Cordell Hull was the first person from Carthage to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Cordell Hull’s early stages of life began in Middle Tennessee.

He was born in Overton County.

Cordell Hull was appointed as a Judicial Circuit Judge and moved to Carthage, Tennessee.

From 1931 to 1937, Hull served as a United States Senator.

He ended his term at age 62.

Cordell Hull played a key role in World War II.

In 1945, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the establishment of the United Nations, but was too sick to attend in person.

He won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for, I’m quoting here,  “informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change.”
