Many boats and planes have mysteriously disappeared throughout history in the Bermuda Triangle, but why? It’s located off the South-Eastern coast of United States in the Atlantic Ocean and the area is bounded by Miami (in Florida, USA), San Juan (in Puerto Rico), and the north-Atlantic island Bermuda (bermuda-attractions.com). The area referred to as the Bermuda Triangle, or Devil’s Triangle, covers about 500,000 square miles of ocean off the southeastern tip of Florida. The Bermuda Triangle is known for being controversial due to some people thinking it supernatural because planes and boats have mysteriously disappeared there. However, The Bermuda Triangle is not a supernatural area due to the fact that all of the mysterious events happened because of rogue waves and electronic fog.
Rogue waves are one of the main reasons the Bermuda Triangle is so dangerous. Rogue waves usually occur in deep water and have a focusing affect created as a result of a number of waves joined together, and their height is twice the height of even significant waves and more than their height, it is the damage that they create is more massive (thesun.co.uk). Dr. Simon Boxall, an ocean and earth scientist, says that infamous area in the Atlantic can see three massive storms coming together from different directions – the perfect conditions for a rogue wave (thesun.co.uk). This shows how the boats crash/disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. The bigger the ship, the bigger the difficulty staying afloat, they found. Small ships can get swamped by them, but sometimes they can ride the wave if they hit it bow-on, Boxall said. But big ships — designed to be supported in the front by the top of one wave and in the back by the top of another — snap in two (livescience.com). Rogue waves only affect the boats in the Bermuda Triangle, but what affects the planes?
Electronic fog is what causes planes to disappear/crash in the Bermuda Triangle. The most notable theory of the Bermuda Triangle, electronic fog, is a meteorological phenomenon which sticks to an aircraft or a ship. The fog causes equipment on aircrafts and ships to malfunction – such as spinning of compasses (bermuda-attractions.com). Once planes enter the Bermuda Triangle, the electronic fog starts to get into the plane. “The fog then keeps moving along with the plane and soon, all the electronic systems and the instruments start malfunctioning. Nothing works correctly any longer. Spatial disorientation and time distortion starts and finally, the ship or the aircraft can even disintegrate or disappear without a trace (bermuda-attractions.com).” This shows us what causes the planes to crash/disappear in the Bermuda Triangle Some people might have a different opinion on it being supernatural or not though.
These people believe that the Bermuda Triangle’s disappearances have occurred due to alien abduction or the Lost City of Atlantis. “There are a number of supernatural concepts and theories that have been used by writers to explain the disappearances of ships and airplanes in Bermuda triangle area (bermuda-attractions.com).” Airplanes do not get abducted by aliens as soon as planes enter the Bermuda Triangle, they get affected by electronic fog. This explains how the planes crash/disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. Also, the legend says that the city of Atlantis heavily depended on some special energy crystals which were extremely powerful and they caused ships and planes to mysteriously disappear (bermudaattractions.com). This is not true as boats get destroyed due to powerful waves called rogue waves. This shows how boats crash/disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. Clearly, the Bermuda Triangle is proven not to be supernatural.
To conclude, the Bermuda Triangle is not a supernatural area due to the fact that all of the mysterious events happened because of rogue waves and electronic fog. Rogue waves, which are waves that are extremely dangerous, cause ships to crash and sink, and especially in the Bermuda Triangle, they are even more dangerous. These waves are the reason to why ships are crashing and sinking in the Bermuda Triangle, not because of the Lost City of Atlantis. Also, in the Bermuda Triangle there is a gas/fog called electronic fog, which causes technology in ships and planes to fail, and it is also stated that it can cause them to disappear without leaving a single trace. This is what it is causing planes to disappear in the Bermuda Triangle, not being abducted by aliens from other worlds. If you ever get in a discussion about whether the Bermuda Triangle is supernatural or not, prove them wrong in the name of science!
