When it comes to alcoholic beverages, there is a wide range of options. There is something for everyone. From sweet, to bitter, to mixed. Whatever you are in the mood for, there is something for it. According to the national institute of alcoholism, 80% of people ages 21 and up have had alcohol three or more times in they’re life time. That comes to show that alcohol is extremely popular in the United States. While reading this research paper you will find out why.
A spirit is a distilled beverage also known as hard liquor. It is also used to make mixed drinks. Tequila is a spirit that has been around for many centuries. Tequila was originated in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1530, by Francisco Monks. This spirit was discovered from the “blue agave plant”. The plant itself was also found in Central Mexico (April 2016)
Tequila has different price values due to the fact that there are many different brands, and served in different locations. You can get some high priced bottles, or very low priced bottles. The quality will not be the same of course. For example, you can go to a party club, and pay $175 for a 25 oz bottle. Verses going to a liquor store and paying fairly $70. Another form of purchasing could be by cup, instead of the whole bottle. If you get a mixed drink with patron, it can cost on average $11, verses when you buy a mixed drink with “house tequilla” it can be $6. House tequila would be the much lower quality brand. There are many popular brands associated with this spirit. Some choices would be patron, Casa noble corzo, Kirkland signature, and many more different brands. The ones listed are extremely popular (Archibald Anna).
Since tequila is such a strong liquor, you must pair it with the right foods. This particular drink goes more with salty foods, or heavier foods. It does not compliment well with sweets or sugary things. A popular pair for tequila is tacos. Since this spirit was originated in Mexico, they paired they’re most popular dish with they’re most popular drink. This is not the only good thing that goes with tequila. It is also paired great with seafood, since seafood is a bit more on the blander side it compliments the strong tequila taste. Another popular choice would be steak, since it is very rich and heavy. (Top pairings 2016)
As most people know there are a wide range of wines. Some light some dark. The focus today will be a specific wine called Chardonnay. This wine was originated in western France. Although is was discovered in France it is produced all over the world, where ever wine is made. This white wine is developed from a green skinned grape, which is why the drink is light(Stewart).
Just like any other alcohol, there are many different brands of this product, therefore the prices can vary. The average bottle of chardonnay can cost anywhere from $25-50. It is a good quality wine and it is very affordable. Some of the popular brands of this wine are, Grgich hills, Chateau Monelena, and meiomi Chardonnay. These are all the same kind of wine but in different brands and they are all priced differently(Davis Richard).
This kind of wine goes great with many foods and cheeses. This is a softer more cream like wine, so pairing is not very difficult. When pairing with an entrée you can have wide varieties from, chicken breast, pork, oily fishes, or even seafood. You can have a wide range of heavy dishes or wide dishes, it will pair nicely with this wine. Pairing cheese with wine is very popular. Since this wine is light and smooth, it is best to pair it with a soft cream like goat or cow cheese to compliment the texture(September 2015)
If heavy drinking is not for you, maybe you should try a beer. It is a light alcoholic beverage, that has wide variety of options. There is light or dark malt beer. Whatever is to you liking. The beer chosen was “ stout” beer. This beer is for people that prefer the darker side. It is not very strong, it is actually lower in alcohol then others. It is a malt roasted beer. It is dark but it has a semi sweet taste to it. This beer was originated in the 1720s, in London, England. It was developed when malt was discovered. It contains roasted malt, or roasted barleys, that is why it is so dark.
There a many brands of stout beers since it is quite popular. The most popular brand is Guinness beers. They come in many different pancaked forms, therefore the prices vary. You can get a 6 pack of Guinness stout beer for about $34. A single 80z bottle would cost around $8. It is a typically affordable beer, even though it is so popular. Guinness is not the only brand available. There is also, Russian imperial stout, DuPont brewery, Bells brewery, and many more. The prices for these brands are around the same as Guinness(All about beer).
When it comes to pairing beer with foods it is not the same as wine or spirits. Beers are often eaten with all different kinds of meals on a regular bases. This beer is great for a big family barbecue. It goes great with roasted, salty, and barbecued food. It compliments all the filling feeling after your stuffed, and also quenches the thirst. This beer is known to usually be sweeter then the dish. Typically this beer wouldn’t be paired with any sugary or sweet dishes, since it is already sweet itself. Unless you do have a sweet tooth, you can even pair this beer with chocolate deserts, to satisfy that crave,
