There are different perspectives of the way you see someone and the way they feel. Not everyone is alike and for that everyone is seen as unique/different. However, we all handle our emotions in altered context and for that we sometimes can’t control them. With this effect it causes ‘mental issues’ to oneself and leads a patient to face problems. Everyone is different so each individual has a different background (race, ethnic, culture, sexuality, etc.) and the professional care giver has to take note on that. If not, it can lead to serious consequences, there won’t be a relationship between the nurse and patient, and the patient won’t recover.
Depression is an issue that is taking part on patients for certain reason, and is extremely usual in the public and is practiced in certain exercises. However, it’s a tricky perception because there are different views of depression. Throughout this article it reflects on how to treat the patient, what can cause depression and how to tell that the patient is facing depression/anxiety. There are different views of depression effects such as study and clinical practice. One sees depression as a disease and the other sees it as a socially constructed phenomenon.
To identify the prevalence of mental illness in ethnically and varied (also known as CALD) groups is difficult, which include socioeconomic background, verbal, aniexty, and outlooks of the expert and patient case. However, it is uncertain if this shows the transformations of the view of mental issues, variances of the way the patient present him or herself, or modifications by the behavior of GPs with pateints that have divergent cultural backgrounds. GPs role is detecting, analyzing and handling mental health problems for members of ethnic groups, also providing family care and promotions for mental health. This states how and when people pursue medical aid for mental disorder, and their opportunities. Culture is a communicating and developing aspect of uniqueness and skill. It’s one of countless features that can affect the discovery of cerebral issues also constant care. A major part of depression and mental health care is communication. Everyone has different perspectives and culture it has a significant effect on depression care, developing bonds between the professional and patient.
In chapter 2 of the Culture Competencies for Nurses it proclaims, ‘When caring for patients, nurses need to be aware of culture variations in what is deemed appropriate or inappropriate, as well as understand how patients from particular cultures may display mental distress’ Dayer-Berenson, 2014, p.54). This demonstrates how nurses need to be on top of things when understanding their patients because they need to recognize their background so no one will get offended. This chapter topic ties with the article because culture is in between the patient and nurse, which the nurse needs to respect in order to have a close connection with the patient. They demonstrate how culture is a majority throughout the medical practice to emphasize how it reflect on the patient and how well a nurse can really care for one.
Nurses have to remember to be respectable when presenting to a patient because of their beliefs, issues and culture. When providing care they have to guarantee that the service given are culture sensitive and suitable. The nurses don’t use a checklist to make sure that everything is in order and what guidelines to follow they just use their knowledge that has been taught. Such as a thoughtful tactic that dodges judgments and presumptions in offering care that is ethnically subtle and cognizant.
