The definition of the consumer market is buyers who purchase goods and services consumption, not for resale. However, not all consumers are in their tastes, preferences and buying habits, as since consumers can be distinguished from some other different characteristics. If a marketer can identify consumer buying behaviour, he or she will be better-targeted products and services to them. For example, when you visit the market when you are taking part in the consumer market. Consumer market definition thing, as long as the moment you step into the market, it is considered part of the consumer market. Even if you just have a look, but did not buy anything. A consumer market is a great system that allows us to purchase products, goods and services. These items can be used for personal use or to share with others. Collaborative filtering is a technique used by certain recommender systems. Today, this technique is very popular and famous. Collaborative filtering technology to provide personalised advice is particularly successful. This is a very convenient system to internet users. Collaborative filtering technology have five steps, which need recognition / problem recognition, information search, alternative evaluation, purchase decision and post-purchase behaviour. The technology group is to help Internet users to filter any results. It can capture more subtle things. Perhaps some of you have not seen, but there is something relevant to viewers searched. Collaborative filtering technology has two meanings, a narrow one and a more common. Collaborative filtering technology is commonly used to build the Web personalised recommendation technology. Some popular sites use collaborative filtering technology, including 11street, mudah.com, Taobao, eBay, iTunes, IMDB, Lazada, Tianmao and so on. In the collaborative filtering technology, it is used by making interest on a user from a plurality of user preferences compiled automatically predict. For example, like Taobao station can recommend who buy clothes buy clothes A, B and C for the client. This is done by comparison to those who have purchased the same clothes of history preferences or what they have been added to their favourite item before. This is likely to have a similar level of interest for similar items. In some ways, this is an advanced technology to promote social progress and contribution to society.
Collaborative filtering technology also has a few drawbacks, which including the main disadvantage is that the system could not produce collaborative filtering technology recommended if there are not any available ratings. For example, there are about 10 searches, there are a few of them will be the wrong recommendation. The wrong example as, the collaborative filtering technology would not recommend some searchers are not interested or not related. Sometimes, they showed the accuracy is poor, there is little data on user ratings. In addition, collaborative filtering technology requires manual or automatic indexing feature, however, this project does not capture everything that is needed to understand the content of the project “User cold start” problem. They also need to learn what characteristics are important, which is for the user it takes much time. Sometimes, collaborative filtering technology will give the consumer inconvenience. For example, when consumers want to buy clothes, the collaborative filtering will give consumers confused by user browsing history. Maybe consumers have visited pants record, and the system will show the pants. However, it will mess up the viewer. Besides that, this technology also uses a very large network data. Maybe this will bring some trouble for some of the network users.
In today’s, the age of advanced network, almost everyone is inseparable from the internet. Nowadays, most of the website has also begun to use this technology on their website in a different way. I think that this technology can also be used at University College official website. Let’s use the college that I’m currently attending which is Sunway College Ipoh to be an example. For my college, they can use this technology on their official website to help their consumers easy to find out what courses that they are interesting. For example, when they are looking for a design course, it can be unfolded all the design related courses. Which means that they only need to write (design), the site will automatically list out all the courses on design. Or as long as they search about (Interior Design), the official website will be listed out about Diploma, Degree, short course, Interior Decoration, Landscape Design Course and etc that have all the relevant courses in interior design. As long as not like the current official website, the consumers need to search by their own. In addition, the college official website can also use this technology to help publicise the unpopular courses such as, add some of the unpopular courses into user’s searching result.
At last, it is some of my opinions. I feel that this technology is not very perfect in currently. For example, in terms of intelligent search, it can also increase the accuracy. The system could not produce collaborative filtering technology recommended if there are not any available ratings. Although this is not perfect, but it is a great technology in this century. Besides that, it also provided personalised advice is particularly successful. This technology is not only can be used in online shopping website, it still can use be used on other sites, such as the theatre’s website, school website, and so on. In addition, this technology can also use without the history or favourite list of consumers. Such as, using an advertising or so on. Besides that, the central server includes means for storing user profile data can be added. For example, the recommended result can also be add something different rather than just a several things to recommend to consumers. This technology also can improve their data usage which can save the consumer internet data usage.
