The types of communication settings the picture shows are 1) Intrapersonal, 2) Interpersonal and 3) Mass/Organisational respectively. Intrapersonal communication involves only one person, that is the self. Intrapersonal means “within the person” and thus occurs within the mind. Interpersonal communication on the other hand involves an exchange of information or ideas between two or more people. Lastly, Mass  communication involves an exchange of information/ideas through a large scale/range of people. This type of communication may be delivered through the means of media, which will be then called mass media. Communication is the imparting or exchange of information/ideas by the use of verbal and/or non-verbal cues and a medium. The communication process is a complex process as it needs t needs to be in a correct/proper order and no disturbance in order for the message to be delivered efficiently. These knowledge of processes may help me to become better communicator by teaching me the proper ways to get my message across to the receiver/s properly and it can also teach me how to become a good listener.
There are different myths about communication: 1) the more you communicate, the better your communication will be; 2) when two people are in a close relationship, neither person should have to communicate needs and wants explicitly,; the other person should know what these are; 3) interpersonal or group conflict is a reliable sign that the relationship or group is in trouble; 4) like good communicators, leaders are born, not made; and 5) fear of speaking public is detrimental and must be eliminated. On the other hand, the different skills of human communication are self-presentation skills, relationship skills, interviewing skills, group interaction and leadership skills and presentation or public speaking skills. The different forms of communication are intrapersonal, interpersonal, interviewing, small group communication, public communication, computer-mediated communication and mass communication. The difference between a linear view and a transactional view is that the liner view  sees communication in a straight line; the speaker spoke  and the listener listened. The transactional view sees the elements of communication ad interdependent and not independent, a change in any of the elements means the change of the flow of the whole communication process. Context influence communication depending on a situation. The way you greet your grandmother and ask how she is doing is different to the way you would greet your friend and ask them how they are feeling. The different principles essential in human communication are: Communication is purposeful, it involves choices, it is ambiguous, it involves content and relationship dimensions, it has a power dimension, it is punctuated and communication is inevitable, irreversible and unrepeatable.
Communication process an important part of our everyday lives. The intention is to deliver the information from one person to another or from one person to many. There are six elements of communication process shown in the video: these are 1) sender, 2) encoding, 3) message, 4) decoding, 5) receiver and 6) feedback. The sender may be a person who intends to deliver or pass on an information/idea to others. Encoding sometimes requires the use of words, actions pictures, etc. The message is the subject matter of a communication; it can be an opinion, a feeling, a view, an order or a suggestion. After, the next is decoding in which the receiver tries to extract the meaning of the message in order to understand. The receiver is then the ones who receive the message and who the message is for; they try to understand the message in order to achieve the objective. Feedback is where/how we learn whether the message was delivered and was understood properly. These functions are not interchangeable, this is because they will lose their sense and the whole process will not properly work.
There are also different communication theories, 1) Authentic Theory of Communication, 2) Reflective Theory of Communication and 3) Artful Theory of Communication. The Authentic Theory of Communication, here it says that good communication shouldn’t interfere with the message. It should be able to transmit the message/idea properly regardless of the environmental distractions/disruptions. Reflective Theory of Communication is where the essential basis and the pre-requisite of the fullest development of that individual’s self is a person’s ability to integrate the broad activities of any given social hole or any organised society (Mead, n.d.). According to Ralph Waldo Emerson, “each to each a looking glass, reflects his figure that doth pass.” Emerson means that people can look at mirrors and define what we see in reflections. The Artful Theory of Communication says that people craft their identities not from their personality, but from the desire to influence/persuade. This theory enables us to craft a conversation for a fact, it concentrates on the management of impression.
