Since the time of the Renaissance until Modernism, art, design and media have changed from being religious and symbolic to abstract paintings attempting new ways to see the world and contemporary ideas about a variety of components and new objectives of art. Characters like Vincent van Gogh and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, were crucial for the improvement of modern art (The Art Story Contributors, 2016). These artists showed how important it is to look back in history so artists never miss the essential parts of an artwork however they also prove that art change the way of being represented through time and that there is always a necessity to search for new ways to reproduce it. For example, Van Gogh used an instinctive practice of paint and significant colors to communicate personal emotions leading to new styles and skills that artists can use today (The Art Story Contributors, 2016). Although many believe futuristic art and design are non-sense and meaningless this essay will argue the importance of walking forward and keeping in mind the future is the only thing we should embrace.

In the first place there are no boundaries, no radical rules that stop the artist from creating new artworks and designs that not only represent landscapes or people like in artworks from the past, it is more about feelings and express society issues (Gaiger,2003). In the time of Da Vinci imitating nature was more appreciated than any other artwork but that was because there was no approach of freedom in the artist neither was a knowledge of the variety of direction art can take.  For example, Banksy graffiti artworks have a broad meaning about human actual situation. One of Banksy’s artwork called “Flying Balloon Girl” was created in 2005, it is the painting of a girl with balloons seeking to float over the West Bank trench between the Palestinian territories and Israel. This piece of art stands for the position both of the communities are experiencing in the present and manifest the vulnerability and the desire of liberty of these two nations (Carey, 2014). Moreover, there are artists that want to express global feelings in their creations. El Seed is a calligraffiti artist born in France, well recognize for his compositions that combine fine Arabic calligraphy and graffiti techniques, to create voluminous murals, which have a message of hope and peace. El Seed said that the main point of the artworks is to induce union in society and future generations. One Seed’s artwork is located on the Jara Mosque in the Tunisan town of Gabes, and refers to a verse from the Queran; religious text of Islam; that it was a universal call to inspire society to embrace their differences, respect each other and to consolidate unity. (El Seed, 2015).

Another significant factor is endless possibilities; the future provides art to society with many capabilities to create new standards of arts. Despite all the favorable facilities that past has left, if society would see and use the skills and point of views from the past everything would be monotonous, repeating ideas, no experiment over new techniques. The future offers new creative styles and manners of expression (Makakli, 2010). Post-Modernist Architecture really defines the use of new techniques including new technologies of construction and materials such as glass, steel, and concrete. Materials that are inexpensive, mass produced and manageable to use. One example of contemporary architecture is the 30 St Mary Axe in London, which was evenly cover with glass panels in the outside and rounded off at the corners (Goel, 2012). The building was design by Norman Foster, whom idea is to project an avant-garde approach to be distinct from the traditional buildings in London. In spite of the fact that many people believe that if society start to embrace the future it would be the destruction of many structures that have contribute to history and that are symbols of national identity, the future allows designers to use new technologies that respond to human needs. The population is increasing but also the progress of urbanizing is developing with great haste. As this progression continue growing, architecture becomes a relevant element in need for high-density housing and also the use of modern technology to produce sustainable living spaces (Foster,2014).  Modern technology creates the capability to produce high-quality materials to build a city that sustain the mass population. Le Corbusier, for instance, is an architect recognized for the creation of buildings made to the human range. (Hoffman,2009). One example of Le Corbusier’s structure is the Unité d’Habitation. The purpose of this building was to accommodate the masses that were displaced in World War II, and also worked as a the origin for main needs of the residents using a contemporary system of goods and services inside the dwelling unit. (Weiyi, 2013)

All things considered, art is an important component in history as time always changes its manner.  Modern art and design is a weapon to express ideas and feelings with freedom without any limit of creation rather than just create artworks base on rules and parameters. The future provides a wide range of opportunities to stand out from the conventional artworks moreover to generate sustainable projects to contribute to the necessities of humans. Embracing the future is one of the biggest opportunities society have to increase the liberty to generate ideas and materials the past has left.
