Miami Gardens Mosque or the Masjid Miami Gardens is a Muslim Mosque where they worship God or Allah. The Muslims believes in the Holy Qur’an as well as the Sunna which means the sayings and the deeds of the Prophet Muhammad. They believe that the Mosque is Allah’s place and therefore; it should be a place of peace and comfort for all Muslims. This is why they welcome all sorts of Muslims no matter the legal school is studying. The Imam of this Mosque prefers Shafi’i legal school but he does not care whether the other Muslims are praying differently provided they worship Allah as required. In addition, the Muslims believe in respect for humanity and human life and they do not advocate in causing other people pain. As they confirmed, their role is to call people to the peace of Allah and promote community programs. They also believe in helping the poor and the less fortunate; which they do quite regularly.
This Mosque is here to serve many functions. In the first place, it helps uphold the Muslim values in this area. The leadership welcomes all sorts of Muslims even those from the Shi’I beliefs. They also teach people the Qur’an and the deeds of the Prophet Muhammad. The believers of this faith come from different parts of the world such as from Pakistan, Africa, some converts from Southern America, India, Turkey, Iran and even Bosnia. They prepare their believers to the careers in the Muslim faith through the different legal schools and they also offer the Muslim curriculum to their faithful.
This Mosque is the largest in South Florida being 2500 square feet. The floor has a large green carpet with multi- yellow lines called the saf that covers the floor of the Mosque. The men and women do pray at the same place; but the place is separated with a fabric curtain. This is in addition to the fact that men and women have separate entry doors and their different places of wudhu or ablutions. There is a house for the keepers of the Mosque just beside the Mosque as well as an office for the Mosque leaders. There is a large parking lot for the faithful of this Mosque and a basketball court where the faithful play basketball when they feel like.
Just like all the other Muslims across the world, Muslims in this Mosque wear long robes and men cover their heads with cabs and women with Hijabs. It is not easy to see any part of their bodies apart from the face and palms for women and the head and palms for men. However, they confirmed that when they are out of the Mosque, men may wear any sort of dress that s held as decent by their religion. However, the women have to wear the Hijab whether they are worshipping or they are at home or work place. Thus, it is very easy to identify the faithful of this Mosque.
At this Mosque, they have different services conducted at different times and days of the week. For instance on Sunday, the children are taught Qur’an lessons where they are supposed to recite the Qur’an verses to help them live by them. There are five prayers that are done on a daily basis and a daily lecture offered after ashar. Then, the Qur’an, Arabic and other Islamic lessons are taught. At times, there are social gatherings where social and family matters are also discussed through a series of questions and answers to allow them live appropriately. Besides, there are some gatherings that are designed so that the faithful can recite the Holy Qur’an.
