The Second Bank of the US was created in 1816, after the first national bank’s charter had lapsed. It helped level the economy by assisting with creating currency that worked nationally. The BUS helped create loans for farmers, small manufacturers, and regulation of state banks to be able to provide their own currency. Also during the time of 1816, Congress ended up creating the Tariff of 1816, which ended up inputting taxes on assorted imported goods, to help assist with safeguarding America’s iron and textile from the competition of the British. A lot of Americans were focused more on the needs of their particular area that they lived in. The individuals around the regions of the North, South, and West, didn’t agree with the polices that were believed to be in their best interest. As individuals started to migrate into the West, the focal point became more on the extension of slavery and it actually ended up becoming a concern, politically. The piece of the chapter that became of must interest to me, was the economic plan that was put together by Henry Clay. I respected that plan that he put into motion because it was great that he wanted to financially for example develop stronger national banks and also create internal improvements. By America having the access to better roads and canals, it assisted them in being able to move at a faster rate and also by them being able to reach more colonies with the trade. In allowing America to get strategically in order to be able to compete with the British, this allowed more opportunity and growth for American’s to be able to have the upper hand when dealing with the British and creating tax to assist with them not being able to come and take over the sales of goods. The idea of having a national bank, which would supply currency throughout the nation, would end up becoming helpful overall for the country in being on the same page in which what would be offered to be utilized for monetary value. When comparing these different type of opportunities with today, I always see the good and bad with things. Yes, it’s so helpful with being able to create different types of roads, however, the money that continues to be spend on fixing up these types of things, is normally money that we as a nation doesn’t even have. We need to focus on spending funds on things that matter so much more, instead of something that is used a couple of times, will just end up getting worn out again. I also look at banks these days, and they cannot be trusted at all. There is so much corruption inside of the bank, that most times, you end up losing your money from the individuals you are trusting to protect your funds. The world isn’t truthful anymore and this is where the problem lies. Everyone wants to put on an image that they cannot afford. Our government does what they believe is good but they never are looking out for the best interest of the individuals. It’s just like the past in which the only thing this world is good for is making money, whether it’s unhealthy or healthy for the individuals.
