PRIMARY DEFINED AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
SEQUENCE I
ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES
&
POWER ELECTRONICS
EEL6227 Electrical Machines And Drives:
Instructor: Dr.Zhixin Miao
Term: Fall 2015.
This is my first subject in this sequence .The course helped me in understanding the drive circiuts to control and convert varies parameters of the machines like variable voltage,constant-Frequency operation, Effects of harmonics in the system, phase-controlled converters, Cycloconverters, voltage and current-fed. This concepts gave me the understanding of the real time problems invovled in the system and lab sessions gave us some real-time experience on the concept which further helped me in the project of this subject.
This subject had individual project. In which my project was “ An Ultra-speed, low power Electrical Drives System”.The concept was to give an ultra high speed with low power electrical drives.
EEL4936 POWER ELECTRONICS:
Insturctor: Dr.Zixhin Miao
Term: Spring 2016.
In this course the higher voltage circuits are studied and practically analysied the performance of the device under different conditions using the simulation packges like pspice, pscad and matlab and vaires lab sessions. In power systems varies part of the system involves with the power electronic device used to control and convert the varies parameters in the system according to the requirement .This course invovled with topics like Line-Frequency Diode Rectifiers, line-frequency phase controlled rectifiers and inverters,dc-dc switch-mode converters and switch-mode dc-ac inverters which further helped me in understanding the concepts like Thyristor circuits and their control, control of dc-dc converters basic concepts of switch-mode inverters and other inverter switching.
I also worked on my individual design project of the course. By designing an ac power supply with Vout=208V at 60 Hz which is connected to diode-based rectifier. A dc load is served via a dc-dc conveter under different given operation conditions and also did a dc power supply connected to the power grid with grid voltage magnitude of 208V at 60Hz.

ENEGRY DELIVERY SYSTEM
&
ENEGRY DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
EEL6285 Energy Delivery System:
Instuctor: Dr.Zixhin Miao
Term: Spring 2016
The Energy delivery system involves in understanding the concepts of deliverying the power from the generation end to loads end which involves distribution system planning and automation ,factors affecting system planning like load forecasting, substation expansion and substation site location and discusing about the present distribution system planning techniques, distribution planning in future and the centre role of the computer in distribution planning and by the help of load characterics the concepts on load forecasting, load management and the relationship between the load and loss factors were very much clear.
I carryout a design project in this course as part of my course work using MATLAB.
EEL6936Electrical Distribution System:
Instuctor: Dr.Ralph Fehr
Term: Fall 2016
I am currently enrolled in this course which invovles different type of toplogies in utlilty, load charactertics, application of distribution transformers,Application of capactors to distribution,Distrbution system voltage regulation, Dr.Ralph Fehr who is having a prior industrial experience has worked with many power system components in the real world and also designed few Utlilties in united state he discuss his experience on certain situation which makes us more exposed to the system and understand the pros and cons of the system.

ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS OF COMPLEX ANALYSIS
&
RANDOM PROCESS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Engineering application of complex analysis:
Instructor : Dr.Dave Snider
Term: Fall 2015
Engineering application in complex analysis taught me the advance problem solving technique by using Taylor series, mobius transformation, conformal mapping and analytic functions and this topics were helpful in the core subject which would help me understand the concept quickly and this subject helped me in knowing how to use the MATLAB coding for the problems in the complex analysis and the assignments in this subject encouraged us to use MATLAB for writing appropriate codes for the particular and solving by hand which made me a good MATLAB coder for the problems given in this subject. These advanced topics helped me in solving the problems in other subject.
Random Process In Electrical Engineering:
Instructor: Dr. Ismail uysal
Term: Fall 2016
I am currently pursuing this subject. In this subject, it gave me a total review on the set theory probability functions Baye’s theorem, Total law of probability, and Bernoulli process. This subject deal with CDF’s, PDF’s and continuous and discontinues random variables like uniform random variables exponential random variables Gaussian distribution and chebyshe’s inequality and also deals with functions of random variables.
Example Problem:
Q.) A pair of dice is rolled 50 times. Find the probability of obtaining double six at least three times?
Solution:
P (double six) =1/6*1/6=1/36
P (“double six atleast three times in n trials”)
= 1 – (50,0) (1/36)0 (35/36)50 – (50,1)(1/36)(35/36)49 – (50,2)(1/36)2(35/36)48
