The band gave a powerful live performance and participated in other art events and music training. Yes, it was summer and it was hot! The Folk Fest brought together great artists and we had a great time. The lineup included great performances from Oldseed, Jose Gonzalez, Kurt Vile, and Dan Mangan just to name but a few. Oldseed Rocks at the Winnipeg Folk Festival
The Winnipeg Folk Festival and the Oldseed band was a match made in heaven. The fans appetite for their music is simply undeniable. Getting the band together to play in Winnipeg was a dream for the thousands of fans who turned up for the festival. The band has been on tour since 2013 and now they were back home where it all started.
They performed on the final night of the four-day Winnipeg Folk Festival event. They lived up to the expectations and delighted the fans with their high energy performance and great sound. Even the organizers admitted that this was one of the favorite bands at the festival in Winnipeg. Fans were super excited to have them perform on the night of the closing of the festival.
It was not easy to get them to perform at the festival given that they were already on tour, it took a lot of convincing to get to put their tour on hold and come to the Birds Hill Provincial Park where the Festival is held to participate.
Oldseed band was among the over 60 music artists set to perform at the Festival including bands from Chicago. Performing alongside great artists such as Edward Sharpe, Magnetic Zeros, and Jenny Lewis in Winnipeg was such an honor for the band. The Winnipeg Folk Festival is like a tour for most of the bands coming from far.
The festival asked for a rock band and they got one. Oldseed melodic ballads and anthems may seem soft but the live show was full of muscle. The screaming and sing-alongs from the crowd almost drowned the band but they kept pounding the keys and hammering amazing tunes.
The folk in the festival would not be complete without a special performance from the legendary Arlo Guthrie a classic favorite.
Winnipeggers enjoyed a fantastic festival and the Oldseed band really resonated well with the folk festival. According to the director if they didn’t get them over to the festival this year they would never get another chance.

Oldseed at the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg
Oldseed still loves to rock, the band left no doubt about it on Friday night when they performed at the packed Burton Cummins Theatre in Winnipeg.
The band emerged in 2005 in Winnipeg and since then they have been rocking non-stop. They are Canada’s most treasured and solid rock bands. The opener of the show was a performance from their debut album and the fans absolutely loved it. It reminded them of the musical journey of the band. It was great to see that the band has stuck together like a family and all of them are still rocking the stage.
They were really out to please and even have some face time with their fans. They performed a few songs on one end of the runway and paraded the distance of the theater to perform a raucous acoustic close to the fans at the end of the stands.
They kept dropping one hit after another and the crowd just went wild. The crowd got onto their feet when during their second song, forever, and they stay on there for a great part of the night. Their voices are still in top shape, particularly when they sing the ballads. However, they did not slow things down much this was a high energy performance from the band as always.
The fans definitely got a show they deserved and came out for. There was thrilling electric guitar riffing and booming bass and the show was rocking. The hits kept coming and the Oldseed finished off with their all-time hit, Right Now, as they say save the best for last that was the perfect way to wrap things up.
They got the fans to wave their cellphones while holding a note on and trying to catch a breath. The Winnipeg crowd was ecstatic. It was an awesome night, the band still got it, rock and roll, is not dead it is alive and kicking and more vicious!
