Cultural feminism is an ideology of a “female nature” or “female essence” that attempts
to redefine how women are viewed as. Cultural feminism uses the traits of women to define themselves. They try to use the traits of women as positive traits and motivate women to use them. It praises the positive aspect of women. Early on cultural feminism there was debate on what they should focus on.
Early theorists such as Jane Addams and Charlotte Perkins Gilman had some basic principles and rights that they were fighting for. They came up with them. However, they were very controversial. Some of these rights and privileges they were fighting for included governing the state, cooperation, caring, and nonviolence in the settlement of conflicts society. These were very controversial at the time.
For every feminism, there is a creator, or a leader in their movement. There is controversy in who started this “cultural feminism” however. The main name that comes up when discussing this is Margaret Fuller. She started this movement when she wrote a book. This book was called “Woman in the Nineteenth Century”. It was written in 1845 and she expressed her concern for the widespread view on women and how they were treated.
There are many authors who voiced their opinion on cultural feminism. Some did it writing books, while others did it on talk shows. Many of these leaders organized protests to support cultural feminism. Linda Alcoff, a cultural feminist, argues that women are
overdetermined by men. In other words, women are commonly stereotyped and believed to be something they aren’t. Some cultural feminists argue that the traditional role of women provides a humane worldview is perfectly fine. However, some cultural feminists argue against that.
In conclusion, cultural feminism is a controversial topic. Many cultural feminists have different view points and beliefs on it. While they share the same general viewpoints, they have some topics they strongly disagree on. One of those topics are the view on women in the world. Cultural feminism is a very diverse culture and movement.
Ecofeminism
Ecofeminism is a belief that links ecology and feminism together. Although there are
many takes on feminism, the main one is very distinct. Advocates of ecofeminism strongly believe that patterns in everyday life have led to the split in culture and nature. This has a very interesting description. Ecofeminists say that everyday culture is getting farther and farther away from nature.
Ecofeminism largely focuses on the nature-culture split. They believe that this split has caused many problems. One of the problems that they believe that this nature-culture split caused is that it has allowed people to be oppressed. The nature split allows minorities to be dominated and segregated. This nature split is the main reason for oppression, according to ecofeminist beliefs.
Ecofeminist advocates compare themselves to nature. They say they don’t compare themselves to nature because of their “feminine” values. They compare themselves to nature for another reason. Ecofeminists reason for comparing themselves to nature is because women and
nature are both oppressed by male dominated forces, according to ecofeminist beliefs. Ecofeminists believe that everything in the world, whether it be in everyday culture or in nature, is a male dominated force.
Some ecofeminists are different to other ecofeminists however. This is very common in any type of feminism to have different sorts of beliefs. It happens in all types of feminism. Some ecofeminists seek to erase all forms of social injustice, not just for women. They look to eradicate forms of social injustices for everyone. That includes, men, women, boys, girls and for all races. Instead of worrying just about women and the environment, they worry about all kinds of problems.
In conclusion, ecofeminism is not like any other feminism. The thoughts they share are very related to nature and they believe that nature plays an enormous role in their everyday life. They try to fix the bond between nature and culture to better their everyday life. However, some ecofeminists don’t only worry about women and the environment, they worry about all kinds of oppression that affect everybody.
Socialist Feminism
Socialist feminism is a branch of feminism. This branch of feminism believes that
women’s oppression is being caused by finances. Socialist feminism focuses on not only the public aspect of life for a woman, but the private aspect as well. This type of feminism focuses on ending not only the cultural oppression of women that they believe in, but socialist feminists also want to end economic oppression of women. They feel that the difference of financial freedom is different for men and women.
Socialist feminists believe that men and women should be equally dependent on each other financially. Socialist feminists do not think that men and women are financially equal, however. These types of feminists believe in almost a communist belief. Gender oppression is thanks to financial struggles for women, according to social feminist values. They strive for the same financial rights as men.
Socialist feminists believe that women can never actually be free. They think that this is thanks to gender oppression. The reason that there is gender oppression, according to socialist feminist, is because women will always be financially dependent on men. According to socialist feminism, a woman would not be able to financially sustain herself unless she is married to a man. They believe that there is strong segregation in the work force.
This branch of feminism shares thoughts with Karl Marx. They do not share all thoughts with him however. They do agree with him in the sense that all people should receive equal financial freedom, regardless of who the person is. Karl Marx however, did not believe gender oppression was real in the work force. Socialist feminists strongly disagree with that. They say the main reason that there is gender oppression is because of the work force.
In conclusion, socialist feminism takes a very unique take on feminism. Their beliefs are that the reason women are oppressed is because of financial oppression. They believe males receive much more financial freedom. Since women are oppressed financially, they are dependent on men, according to socialist feminist beliefs. Socialist feminism is a reasonable feminism based on financial oppression.
Radical Feminism
Radical feminism is a branch of feminism. This is the most criticized branch of feminism.
The reason for that is because the beliefs in radical feminism are, well quite radical. Not all of the beliefs are radical however, like raising awareness to prevent rape. Some of the beliefs though, have been criticized harshly over the years.
Radical feminism basically challenges all of society. It calls for a resetting of the society and all beliefs. Radical feminists want to get rid of all gender oppression. They also believe that male supremacy has reached a point where it is segregation against women, according to their beliefs. They want to challenge all norms of society, anything that involves males being the main force cannot exist according to them.
This branch of feminism has received lots and lots of criticism because of its radical thoughts. Radical feminists believe that gender roles should be abolished. They try to imply these values to everything. Radical feminists don’t receive any criticism when they want to express their opinion respectfully. It’s when they question other people’s beliefs and criticize them for it is when they get criticized.
This branch of feminism is similar to socialist feminism. It blames the men’s freedom to do anything they want for gender oppression. Except they do it in a much more radical way. Instead of wanting to be as equal as the men, they insist on starting over and make sure the men have no power to do anything at all. That’s why it is called radical feminism, some of the beliefs are truly radical.
In conclusion, radical feminism is a type of feminism that has received a lot of criticism. The beliefs are radical, they want to start everything over. Some feminists want to make sure that
men have no right. They feel that the only way to fix gender oppression is by oppressing the gender that supposedly oppressed them. In conclusion, radical feminism is a very criticized branch of feminism.
Liberal Feminism
Liberal feminism is a very independent type of feminism. It focuses on woman being able to maintain themselves without any help. They want to eliminate the belief that women depend on men. They argue that society hold the belief that women are less intellectually and physical capable than men. They work to eliminate that thought by proving that they are as capable.
This type of feminism is much more low key than the other ones. The thoughts are not radical, they make sense. They do not denounce any group of people. Some types of feminism denounce men for oppressing women. Liberal feminism, instead of denouncing men, they work hard to rove that they are as capable as men.
The only time liberal feminists denounced a group was when they were working for women’s suffrage. That was their main goal and they would do whatever it would take to get the right to vote. After years of trying, the law was passed to allow them to vote. After that, they became a much more silenced group, they got what they wanted and they were content with it.
The one thing all types of feminism bring up make lots of sense. Every single group of feminism will bring up raising awareness for women and protecting them. Protests against sexual assault, rape and sexual harassments are organized by all types of feminism. This makes sense because awareness needs to be risen for these issues.
In conclusion, liberal feminism is the most calm type of feminism. Their beliefs are very important and they express them without denouncing other groups. They raise awareness for issues peacefully and do not call for any radical changes. In conclusion, liberal feminism is a very normal belief and that sets up very logical thoughts.
