Employment contracts
Contract of employment
The contract of employment is made as soon as the candidate accepts the job – this is verbal contact. The employee must then, within two months of starting the job, be given a written statement of the main terms and conditions of their employment. Many employees give the information in the form of a written contract of employment – this helps to avoid later disputes as everything is clearly written down. Brockenhurst use the term-time only contact for their teaching staff.
The types of employment contacts are:
Permanent
Temporary
Casual
Full-time
Part-time
Zero-hours
Annual hours
Fractional
Term time-only
self-employed
Contractual Entitlements
Contractual rights are from your contract of employment but don’t actually need to be written in your contract although it is advised that you do have a written contract. d
C.V – A brief account of a person’s, education, qualifications, and previous occupations, typically sent with a job application.
Employee and employer rights – the contracts that both the employer and employee both have to sign will include legal rights, and other agreements they both decided on. Mostly the agreements within the contract will be legal rights, these include: for example: the right to be paid at least minimum wage.

A job application form usually has a collection of forms that are required to be filled out by the candidate, some of the questions that may be asked on an application form are questions on the availability of the candidate and maybe a section where the applicant may write to persuade an employer what they should be the one that get hired
A job description is a document that will describe the tasks, functions and responsibilities of a position. The job description may specify who you will be responsible to and maybe the skills and qualifications required for the job and a salary range.
A covering letter the perfect way to set yourself apart and sell your application and also convince the employer that you would be the right candidate for the job. A covering letter is a document you send with your CV, it is different to a CV because instead of telling the employer about your skills and experience it is specific for the job that you are applying for allowing the candidate to hightlight certain areas you think would make you right for the role.

What is the recruitment process and why is it important?
The process of recruitment is a way of selecting a candidate into an organisation on her/his qualifications and skills and will also evaluate their personal traits. The choice for the right candidate is important as it is necessary that the individual suits the job. If the wrong individual is picked for the job it may cause chaos and an imbalance in a certain project and could cause the organisation to lose money if the employee messes up.
Retention
An effort by a business to keep a working environment that supports the staff that are already in the business to keep then satisfied and valued within the business. Most employee retention policies are aimed at the various needs of employees to keep up job satisfaction and reduce the costs involved in hiring and training new staff.
Employability skills
Employability skills are skills such as being able to use certain programs on the computers(i.e excel and word). These skills make people employable because the organisation that is hiring them will know that they have experience in the work place and also these skills will make it easier for the employee to be successful in the workplace. Usually employers say in the job application process that these skills are required to work for the business.
Personal skills
These are skills that are needed for the majority of jobs. As well as employers looking for the right qualifications they are also looking for people with good personal skills. Employers usually try to employ people with the following attributes:
Hard-working
Honest
Loyal
Work well in a team
Get the job done
Patience
Although having these personal traits will not guarantee the candidate a job they will most certainly increase your chances. Interpersonal skills are the ability to communicate or interact well with other people, interpersonal skills are similar to personal skills apart from that intepersonal skills aren't seen as high-priority attributes to have whereas personal skills are. Interpersonal skills include:
Cooperating
Negotiation
Interviewing
Communicating
Listening
Interpersonal skills will show and employer how well the candidate is at being able to manage their selves and other people. Having interpersonal skills is vital in the workplace as they are essential to developing other key life skills. Being able to communicate well with others is often essential to solving problems that inevitably occur both in private life and professional lives.
