Gonzalez, 2When someone mentions love, most of us think about something we really care about. A person that is very important to us, or a cute pet that we own, but love can be more than that. Love can be when you feel butterflies inside your stomach every time you see someone you really like. Love, is when the souls of two people meet. In some cases, it is very hard to find someone who will give up anything for you, stay up with you when you think it’s the end of the world, and go to the end of the earth for you. In Adele’s first album 19, she expresses her passionate emotions throughout the song “Make You Feel My Love”. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, better known as “Adele” was born May 5, 1988 in North London, England. She is the only child of her mother Penny Adkins, who at 18 brought Adele to the world, and the daughter of Mark Evans, who left Adele when she was just 4 years old. Adele and her father has always been distant until he got involved with drugs and alcohol, and soon disappeared. She has a very close relationship with her mother who was her main support. Adele attended BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology where she found her love for music. During her schooling, Adele wrote 3 demo tracks for one of her school projects that were posted online. XL Recordings heard her tracks and contacted Adele in November of 2006. A few months after she graduated she signed a recording deal with XL Recording. Her first album 19, named after her age, was released in 2008 and brought fame to Adele. In 2009, Adele won the “Best New Artist” at the Grammy

This album sold more than thirty million copies worldwide and brought home 6 wins in 2012 at the Grammy’s. In 2015, Adele released her 3rd album, 25. This album sold 3.38 million copies in seven days. Ever since she began her music career, she has been famous. Adele’s album, 19, was inspired by her boyfriend who she had a horrible relationship with. On her 18th birthday is when the nightmare began. He claimed that he had special feelings for Adele, but later that day, he started a relationship with one of Adele’s gay friend. Her relationship with this guy went on for a few months until she realized that he had cheated on her. Following the breakup, Adele was very heartbroken. The songs written were about the quality she looked for in a relationship as well as the realization of chasing someone that was not worth it. He called Adele once the album was released and claimed that he should receive some money since he was the inspiration for some songs. Additionally, Adele denied the demand but later admitted that, “he deserved some credit because he experience in their relationship helped her to mature” (Adele, 5). The songs, “Make You Feel My Love” played an important part of the album. The song “Make You Feel My Love” is a cover of Time Out Of Mine produced by Bob Dylan in 1997. But originally realized by Bill Joel under “To Make You Feel My Love” before Dylan. This song was recorded by other artist such as: Garth Brooks, Bryan Ferry, Kelly Clarkson, Ane Brun, and Adele.
Gonzalez, 4When creating 19, Adele once said, “Make You Feel My Love”, “summed up exactly what I'd been trying to say in my songs. It's about regretting not being with someone, and it's beautiful” (Adele, 1). Adele was able to truly express the way she felt with the song. In addition, back in March 22, 2016, Adele had a concert in the London’s O2 arena to pay tribute to the people at the terrorist attack in Brussels that day. The fans at the area lit up the building with their flashlights and phones to help Adele empower the song. After the concert, she said, “I don't think I've ever actually been so moved before in my life at one of my shows, that was just so beautiful," (Adele, 3). Adele brought a sense of hope to the victims of the attack after thirty people were killed and many injured. The song “Make You Feel My Love” is a beautiful and has an extraordinary meaning behind it. The song starts off with, “When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case” this verse talks about the dark time in life when you feel like no one is there for you and the “whole world” is judging you. A second piece that is very important in the song is, “when the evening shadows and the stars appear and there is no one to dry your tears” this part talks about how Adele was with the guy through thick and thin sunrise to sunset. The song also includes a time period, “I could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love” which states that Adele will be by his side until he truly understands that she loves him with an enormous passion and he will never be alone. Lastly, “the winds of changing are while and free, You haven’t seen nothing like me yet” the guy has many opportunities in changing just like the wind, the wind can change the course of their direction. In addition, the last verse of the song states that the guy did not managed to change for Adele and he lost someone like no otherMany people listen to music because of the artist, the rhythm, or even because of the genre. It is crucial that people listen to the song, and research the meaning behind it. Researching the music can change a song’s interpretation for a person, and make a lasting impact. Just like Adele did, Adele was able to make a cover of “Make You Feel My Love” because. the lyrics were written in a way that Adele was able to relate to the song. The song explained how far Adele would go for the guy of her dreams although at the end the relationship would conclude in a series of mistakes and regrets.
