This is AAIE:
AAIE represents Association for Amelioration, Innovation and Equality. Our ideas are based on these standards. Because of our political experience our ideas are not only well thought out, but also realisable in practice. The AAIE strives for a society where amelioration, innovation and equality are the most important matters.
Our arguments briefly:
Good education is extremely important to us. We believe teachers should have rounded off an universitary study, students younger than 16 should not do standardised tests and school days should be shortened radically to keep the sufficiency high. Furthermore, subsidy within European countries should be reduced and completely abolished by 2040, to improve the economic position of third world countries. In addition, the use of renewable energy should be increased greatly. Refugees must get helped and taken care of in host families and various authorities. Also, men and women should get treated equally within their work environment and LEDs should replace the old lights because LEDs are not destructive to an animal's habits.
Why join the AAIE:
Every democracy starts with the inhabitants. People who look for improvement, either economically, ecologically or equality. Do you want to have your voice heard? Then this is a good association for you. We pay attention to all members; no matter what age, race or religion. When you become a member of the AAIE, you will get direct access to internal debates. In addition, you enable us to better serve your interests. Become a member of the AAIE, because it is the people who contribute to a democracy.
Education
Our education used to be sufficient and high developed; however, we are slowly losing track of educating the adolescents in a correct way. This already starts at primary school. We are very accustomed to start teaching the standards at a very young age. The average age when Dutch children start learning is four years old, according to the Radboud University. Instead of this we should give children more time to develop their talents and increase their creative way of thinking.
Also, we should increase the importance of teachers. Teachers should have rounded off an universitary study and be given the freedom to create their own lessons within the school. This will stimulate the enthusiasm of teachers, and therefore also the motivation and joy among the students. Since 2016 there has been a great deficiency of teachers, clarifies the newspaper Trouw. Teachers may not save a child like doctors do, but they do reach the heart of these children. Therefore teachers should be paid equally to doctors. This will stimulate and increase the amount of teachers within the country. We want to achieve this by the use of volunteers. Special courses will be set up where teachers learn how to create their own lessons and exercises. We will start small; at regional level. If this succeeds, we will ask for other schools on national level to participate. And finally, international schools can participate with our idea.
Students younger than sixteen should not do standardised tests. These standardised tests ask the same answer from every student; however, every single person has a different way of thinking and has different talents and weaknesses. Therefore teachers should create their own exercises based on the skills of the student. These exercises will not be marked, but helpful feedback will be given. In this way they can fully develop in a fear free atmosphere where their own creativity and initiative are encouraged. We want to achieve this by using a group of voluntary students from the region. If the new tests show improved results, we want to pursue on national level and test various students from different regions. And finally the new tests will be experimented on international level.
In addition, schooldays should be shortened radically. A human brain starts to take up new material hours after school has started. Also, a huge percentage of the students is dealing with fatigue, clarifies child inspector Rob Bakker. Classes should be shorter so teachers have the energy to fully develop a creative lesson and different exercises for every student. This will keep the efficiency of the lessons high and students are less likely to suffer from fatigue. Finland already has applied these rules within the school system. The average achievements of the students are higher, clarifies investigator Pasi Sahlberg. Also this will first be tested at regional, whereupon at national and lastly at international scale.
International trade
We are the third biggest country in terms of export; however, there is always room for improvement. This improvement of export is important for the Netherlands because our whole country relies on these terms and since there is a boycot with Russia and the United States has introduced the idea to produce the needed goods themselves, our export with different countries has to be expanded. The improvement can be achieved through bettering the wealth of third world continents, so the export of the Netherlands with these continents will increase.
We should reduce the subsidy within Europe. The subsidy within the European Union makes it harder for other continents such as Asia, Africa and South America to be able to compete with the high developed European and American trade. This causes the poverty to dominate in these continents. For over a hundred years the wealth in the third world countries has deteriorated sharply. To higher their position in world trade and develop their wealth, subsidy should be radically reduced within ten years, and completely abolished in 2040. The consequence of the amelioration of the third world countries is an increase of wealth. This will lead to a better concuration position of these continents, because their economies will ameliorate. This will increase their terms of export and import and therefore also improve the export of the Netherlands and surrounding European countries.
Third world countries are getting behind, far behind. In the meantime Western continents such as Europe and America keep improving. The difference in wealth between various countries in the world keeps increasing. Over 12 million people live below the poverty line in South-Africa, confirmed by the daily Maverick. They have to feed their family with less than one dollar a day. Other countries in central Africa are even worse off. The economy of these countries is not doing well and governments are struggling to better their position.
When we reduce and abolish the subsidy between European countries and decrease the excise duty within Africa, South America and parts of Asia, it will get easier for these countries to compete with the strong wealth of Western continents. This also is important for the Netherlands and surrounding European countries because their terms of trade will improve sharply.
This will also have a positive effect regionally because the economy of the Netherlands will ameliorate, this causes people to be more confident in the economy.
Environment
Probably one of the most threatening issues of this century: global warming. Ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising and the amount of natural disasters is increasing radically. The Industrial Revolution introduced the release of emissions from fossil fuels into the air. From that exact moment the temperature has risen over 0,5 degrees Celsius. The consequences are catastrophic; enormous floods, tsunamis and hurricanes are on their way if we keep continuing this way.
The only way of slowing down this process is increasing the use of renewable energy. The most important energy source at this time. Renewable energy is energy that doesn’t come to an end and doesn’t pollute the air. Examples are solar, hydro and wind energy. Creating a sufficient way to win energy might be expensive, but no matter how high the costs we must expand the use of green energy, because the environment is extremely important to us.
We should not only reduce the use of fossil fuels because of their harmful emissions, in addition fossil fuels are becoming scarce. Energy sources such as crude oil, coal and natural gas are nonrenewable energy sources; they run out. If we don’t start increasing the use of green energy soon, these fossil fuels will run out in no time and nearly 8 billion people will have no source of energy.
Firstly, we will increase the amount of solar panels within the region. These solar panels will be placed on top of apartment buildings and schools. In this way the solar energy can be partly used in these buildings. When this has been achieved we will continue with placing solar panels on buildings in various regions and windmills along the coast. Finally we will place hydroelectric dams in Central Europe, mainly around waterfalls, solar panels in Southern Europe and more windmills along the coast in Western Europe.
In addition, we should increase the road tax on diesel cars and ban them from large cities. Large cities have to deal with a lot of emissions due to the high amount of vehicles and the living conditions in cities such as Arnhem, Amsterdam and Berlin are deteriorating. If we ban these polluting vehicles from the large cities the air condition will improve. We will first start off small and test this idea in Arnhem, then if the living conditions improve and the nuisance of the population stays low, it will be tested on national and international level. Examples are Utrecht, Rotterdam and Brussel where this plan already is in use and emission percentages are decreasing.
Refugees
She was walking down the street in her hometown just outside of Hama, where the protests against President Bashar al-Assad erupted heavily. For middle aged women like Noha, now 40, leaving the house in the spring of 2012 had become a game of Russian roulette. Dozens of people were dying each day in the civil war between Assad’s forces and antigovernment forces. The ancient farming town of Hama had become a dangerous battlefield.
Noha is a 40-year-old Syrian refugee, she has eight children to take care of, as well as her husband who has survived a stroke. However, when the war broke out in her village, access to healthcare, safety, and basic needs in combination with the poverty became her biggest challenges. Noha explains verbal abuse from the military as well as sexual harassment from military personnel, saying that “they touched the privacy of her body.â€
Noha is just one out of 5,2 million refugees who has to deal with these bizarre circumstances every single day. They are risking their lives to give safety to their children and make deadly trips across the sea in order for safety.
We must help these people, they are in great danger and deserve all the basic needs they require. The way we want to help these refugees is applying host families who have volunteered. This also improves the social integration and will develop their cultural knowledge of the Netherlands and other host countries.
At regional scale we want to organise several days a year for the refugees to get to know the neighbourhood and inhabitants. This will be achieved by setting up various games for all ages. The refugees will feel more comfortable within the region and it will also stimulate their social development.
At national scale we want to search for voluntary host families and we want forces to travel to Syria where they help people with escaping the war zone.
At international scale we want the United Nations to gather and work out more solutions for this giant problem. The refugees must be divided equally among the countries, depending on the economic position of the country. Also, these countries have to set up days for the social integration of the refugees and take care of the basic standards.
Equality
"Gender equality, equality between men and women, involves the concept that all human beings, both men and women, are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without the limitations set by stereotypes, rigid gender roles and prejudices. Gender equality means that the different behaviour, ambitions and needs of women and men are considered, valued equally. It does not mean that women and men have to become the same, but that their rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not depend on whether they are born male or female.â€
On a global scale, achieving gender equality also requires getting rid of harmful practices against women and girls, including sex trafficking and femicide. UNFPA stated that, "despite many international agreements affirming their human rights, women are still much more likely than men to be poor and illiterate. They have less access to property ownership, credit, training and employment. They are far less likely than men to be politically active and far more likely to be victims of domestic violence.â€
We believe gender equality is extremely important. In the previous years, the circumstances have improved; however, women are still disadvantaged and prejudiced. Women with the exact same job as men often get paid less and are mistreated within their environment. Averagely, women get paid 19% less than their male colleagues. This has to be solved.
At regional and national scale severe measurements will be taken when sex trafficking occurs. We will set up an extra emergency number for women who have been recently sex trafficked, assaulted or experience anxiety from assaults in the past. Also, companies will be frequently investigated whether they adhere the regulations. Regulations for companies will be: paying all employees equally, regardless male or female and the atmosphere within the office should be regarded equally for both genders.
On international scale gender equality is the fifth of seventeen sustainable development goals of the United Nations. Gender inequality will be measured annually by the United Nations Development Programme's Human Development Reports, and countries who have not adhered to the regulations will be punished.
Nature maintenance
Nature maintenance: a very important aspect regarding to a sustainable way of living. However, this is becoming an aspect where people seem to loose their caring for. The Netherlands has developed greatly within the last years, either economically and innovatively. Nevertheless, this is at the expensive of nature. Nature is our number one, even if this slows down the economical improvement of the Netherlands.
Firstly, we want to reduce the use of pesticides greatly. Pesticides are the only toxic substances which are released into the air to kill living organisms on purpose. They are used to protect crops from any damage caused by, weed, fungi and insects. The consequences of using these toxic chemicals are catastrophic. For example, pesticides might end up in a nearby stream, these chemicals will pollute the water. If a body of water becomes polluted, all animals existing in that area may get sick and eventually die. This can unbalance the whole ecosystem.
Not only are pesticides dangerous to the environment, but they are also to a person's health. Pesticides have been linked to cancer, Alzheimer's Disease and ADHD. If the chemical waste builds up in your body, they can be destructive to your health and should be avoided as much as possible.
We believe there is a solution for this problem. Biotechnology is developing. Plants with genetically transformed DNA are created. This makes the plant less attractive to an insect. The solution does require money and effort; however, pesticides cost a lot too, and we believe nature and health are more important, no matter the cost.
Furthermore, we want to increase the use of LED lighting within the infrastructure of the Netherlands. The LED-light is a product that is smaller, sustainable and indestructible. They consume 40% less energy than a tl-light. In addition, LEDs can be used around 50.000 hours, which contributes to their sustainability. Another positive effect of LED, is their effect on the environment. Many lights used nowadays are destructive to the habits of animals like birds and insects.
We will firstly test LED-lights within the region. Mainly around forests LED-lights will replace the old lighting. The positive effect on the environment will be measured and tested. If the positive effect is big enough, LEDs will be applied nationally and finally agreements with the UN will be set to introduce LEDs internationally.
