Technology has changed the dynamic of how modern life is lived. Thanks to technology, certain things can be done in seconds that would have taken hours or even days to do. Although technology is very useful, it can also be the cause of many issues in all age groups. Technology helps in small everyday things and also in big things that reach everybody. It helps in things like communication, navigation, organization, trade and industry, and education. However, with all of these positive things, there are also negatives. There are things like addiction to technology, physical deterioration, attitude problems, sexual risks, and time consumption. When it comes to technology, positive and negative aspects are present, but the positive effects outweigh the negative.

Recent advancement of technology has greatly affected communication. Technology has affected communication in a personal context and on a larger scale such as spreading the new through media. On a personal level, communication has become much easier. Now, one can have a conversation with ease over the phone or over text, while “In the olden days, people who wanted to communicate with their relatives in far away places would have only two choices. One was to personally take the trouble to travel to their relatives' place and another would be via sending letters”(Moradi, n.d.) . Social Media has also become a prime source of communication. Through social media, one can find out about things that could be happening on the other side of the world. Technology has had a great affect on communication.

Although communication has been greatly advanced by technology, there are also very many risks in communicating through technology. A piece of technology can easily be hacked and tracked. However that is not the only problem with communication through technology. If one only communicates through technology they will lose a very needed skill to be able to have a one-on-one conversation. Although these things may be true, without the ability to communicate through technology, many things would be harder. Things such as communicating with family far away would be harder. Also being able to find out about news would more much more delayed than when one would be using technology. Therefore, without technology to communicate, many things would be much harder.

Technologies effects on businesses are very apparent. Without technology, starting a business and being able to maintain it would be much harder. Technology helps in every aspect of business. Completing a transaction has become much easier with technology because a machine processes all of the information needed. Selling things has also become more efficient whether that may be through online selling items in a store. Technology has also made communication between the business and the customer more efficient ,“ allow them to become innovators in their field by looking for new ways to increase efficiency and create stronger connections between businesses and customers”(Marist, 2017.). Thanks to technology, businesses can now thrive.

Many things have been have been changed for the better by technology and education is one of them. All levels of education from kindergarten all the way up to college have been affected. Books and information are now common and easily accessible, “In medieval times, books were rare and only an elite few had access to educational opportunities. Individuals had to travel to centers of learning to get an education”(Purdue University, 2017.). Now everyone has the ability to learn not only through books, but audio books, images, and videos. This is not the only way technology has affected education. Now learning is not restricted only to classrooms. Students can now participate in a class through online enrollment. Classes can also follow along and learn about a place that they wouldn’t be able to visit by the use of cameras, pictures and emails. Technology has changed the dynamic of learning and opened the door for numerous opportunities.

One could argue that technology would serve as more of a distraction than a tool for education. They could say that while a student should be writing a paper or studying, they could be distracted by playing a video game or watching a movie. Although this may be true, without technology students wouldn’t be able to receive as much information. If there is a worry about distractions, superiors can make restrictions to minimize distractions. There are ways around distractions to be able to use technology in a studying environment.

The medical field is now more advanced and organized with technology. Technology reaches every area of the medical field. Numerous innovations have been applied to hospitals. Technology not only helps with the performance of the hospitals, but also the overall hospital experience. With all of the new advanced tech, patients feel more comfortable, and also the doctors have more ease in what they do. Another huge innovation is, “… the Robotic Surgery Simulator (RoSS). This innovation allows real-world views of surgeries while eliminating the need for a live environment to train aspiring surgeons. It gives these medical professionals the space to experiment in a simulated environment, rather than risking making mistakes on real patients”(Hussung, 2015.). Technology also helps with the organization aspects of hospitals and healthcare. A hospital can store medical records and bills in a easily accessible database.

Critics of technology in the medical field could argue that using technology for hospitals could be risky. They could present the argument that if technology is used to store medical records, if the database shuts down or crashes, all of the records could be lost. Or they could argue that surgery simulators could be inaccurate and present false information, which could cause the doctor to make a fatal mistake because of a mistake made by a robot. However, without technology at hospitals, the process of being at the hospital could be much longer. On top of that, without technology, organization and cleanliness in a hospital would be very disastrous.

People could also argue that technology causes many issues in everyday life. Such as addiction. It could be argued that overuse of technology could form an addiction. On top of an addiction, when using too much technology, one's body could be affected. They could gain weight while spending large amounts of time on technology and have worse eyesight. Not only could an addiction to technology cause physical deterioration, but it could present attitude problems. All of these points are valid, but they could also all be prevented. If certain measures are taken, one could avoid the consequences of all of these issues.

In conclusion, it is acknowledged that technology has its positive and negative effects. However, just about every area of life, has been impacted greatly by technology. Without modern technology, life today would be completely different. Many more things would be harder and more inconvenient. Technology has made outstanding innovations for the general population and on larger scales.
