I appreciate you for taking the time to meet me last week to talk about the current scenario of the writing skills of newly recruited executives all over the industry. I am writing to extend to you our business proposal, which would be beneficial for your organisation as it would enhance the writing skills of the employees.

We, the employees of Sunderland Skills, work towards the enhancement of communication skills of employed workers to make them a better fit for the industry. Our services include providing bi-weekly sessions to the employees on writing skill lessons by our excellent faculties which would include email writing skills pertaining to the modern era and business letter writing. Writing practices would be done on a daily basis and weekly tests would be taken for overall evaluation of the employees.

Executive Summary

We, the Sunderland Skills Pvt. Ltd. are a customer-centric company and believe in delivering the best service possible to our customers. We work towards the enhancement of communication skills of employed workers to make them a better fit for the industry. As of now, we have a client base of around 40 Fortune 500 companies and has been recognized by the Business Standards as the best company in helping employees to enhance their writing abilities.

A good writing ability is one of the most important skills that help retaining customers, adding value to the businesses and creating a good impact on the customers. We have observed that many newly recruited employees face huge problems while drafting their ideas in mails. Ineffective communication is the major reason why companies lose their clients. According to a research carried out by ContactEngine, more than 65% of the consumers would never like to work again with a company due to bad experiences. In a recent research conducted by ComGov, it has been observed that in a poll of than 1,000 companies worldwide, 75% of the companies would not prefer working with some other company if they had a bad experience.

DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS

There is a serious need in the soft skills improvements in the youth of our country. Various articles all over the internet state that around 93% percent of the Indian engineering graduates are unemployable. Much of this is due to the lack of advanced English speaking and written abilities of the individuals. These fresh graduates are employed by the organisations and much of the business requirements, apart from the core engineering skills, are the business interactions with clients and other employees.

Studies have shown that 30% of the employees working in multinationals are not up-to-date with their email writing skills and business correspondence. So, as a result, there is a big communication gap between corporate executives when it comes to written communication.

Above these factors, there are other points that have to be taken into consideration like the changing scenario of written business communications.

For example, a person starting the mail with a “Hi” may offend a senior person as he might not be used to an informal greeting in a formal conversation. There are many other cases in which improper usage of communication have caused various repercussions in the whole industry.

Another example would be the change in the “Please find attached” usage in the mails; this phrase is old fashioned and in some ways also grammatically incorrect. This phrase has to be done away and replaced by a simple “I have attached” or “Please have a look at the attached files.”

These are some of the common trends in the modern day conversations and all the companies need to be updated in these aspects as well.

Even the most basic writing – like thank you notes and emails – can be sabotaged by just one grammatical error.  In the business world, this can give clients the impression that you aren't careful. So we will be providing an all-round lesson on grammar and punctuation to make writing error free.

Essay & Report Writing: Writing reports and assignments can be a daunting prospect. Learn how to interpret questions and how to plan, structure and write your report or assignment. Essay and report writing skills, is designed to help you develop the skills you need to write effectively for business purposes, plan and write compare/contrast, cause/effect, and argument essays and write well-developed body paragraphs.

English Advance Writing: In this we teach how to plan and write a more sophisticated argument essay, identify plagiarism and explain how to prevent it, read and analyze several articles to form your own opinion on a topic, make connections between several articles and using sources effectively while making any formal written communication.

Vocabulary: The purpose of "Vocabulary Building" is to improve your everyday vocabulary with words that you can use in everyday conversation. A strong vocabulary will not only give you the tools to say and write exactly what you mean. A good vocabulary makes you sound smarter, feel more assured and practically guarantees you'll be a better writer and speaker. Over the years, you've seen and heard words many times but you don't quite manage to remember the definition or use the word yourself when writing or speaking. You were supposed to have learned all this vocabulary stuff in high school or college but maybe you were absent that day? Well, it’s never too late to fill in some of the gaps.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1.  Engagement and Services

Faculties and other staff members engaged in services for the concerned project will not be involved in any unethical behaviour and a level of proficiency can be expected from them. Any misconduct of any kind from either of the parties shall be evaluated and strict actions would be taken against the culprit(s).

2. Term Duration

As per this agreement, the Effective Date shall commence on the Date of signing and shall remain in effect until the completion of all the Services or the termination of this agreement whichever is the earliest. The duration of the written skills communication course is 2 months.

The bi-weekly days would be decided by both the involved parties and would remain fixed for the entire duration of the course.

3. Course Fees and Expenses

As per the industry norms and the level of experience the faculties brings in for the project, Sunderland Skills charges Rs 5000 per employee for the entire duration of the 2 month course.

The above mentioned fees does not include any extra sessions or classes that the firm may seek from us. The charges for a one hour extra class are Rs 10000 and a maximum of 20 employees can attend one class. E-Receipts would be generated on the payment of the fees and a detailed copy of the payment would be sent to the company in 4 working days. The payment will have to be made in advance and a list of the enrolled employees should be sent to our office at accountsoffice@sunderland.ac.in.

If the employees wish to keep using our evaluation software for future endeavours, they can enrol with a charge of Rs.1000 per month. This service is exclusive and not to be shared by individuals.

The location of the course delivery is at the discretion of the client. If the client wishes that the sessions be held at our classrooms, then an additional Rs.1000 per 20 student class would be charged. The firm can use their own office for classes and in that case, there would be no additional costs.

4. Confidential Information

According to the agreement, the services and materials provided by our company should in no way be reproduced by the company in any format. Sunderland Skills holds the copyrights for their products and legal action would be taken against the wrongdoers. The client’s name would be added on the client’s section on our official website. The details of the enrolled employees would be in no manner used by us for any promotional purposes.

5. Interference with Business

As per the agreement, the firm would not be engaged in business with any other communication skill development firm for the entire duration of the course. Sunderland Skills would not use any of the company’s employees’ data, either directly or indirectly, without a prior written consent of the company.

6. Assignment

The services to be performed by Sunderland Skills hereafter are rendered by the company based on the personal expertise of our faculties. We agree that not only we will do in accordance with the agreement but also provide the detailed documentation in a very precise manner which would also include the performance analysis of individual employees. The faculty members and staff who would be assigned to your firm may be providing classes and lectures to other firms as well during that period. But, we guarantee that no overlap of timing would occur and the name of the company would be disclosed to other firms during the ongoing course.

7. General

The agreement constitutes all parties clearly mentioned as well as the stakeholders for both the company and us. This supersedes any prior commitments and understanding as well as instrument on the subject. This agreement upon signature would not undergo any changes until the termination of the project or the tenure of the agreement whichever is the earliest.  

Any kind of waiver for any provisions mentioned in the document shall be decided on mutual agreement of both the involved parties. Any sort of failure of the firm in enforcing any provision of the agreement shall lead to the discontinuation of the waiver.

The provision of the agreement has to hold by a court under the jurisdiction of the company or Sunderland Skills. Any provisions which is retrospectively changed will be modified in the presence of the Honorable Judge but other terms & conditions shall remain in full force as well as it will be construed in accordance with the provision.
