Mary Shelley is a great famous writer that many people look up to. Her writing touched many people across the world and is still touching people today. Most people know of her through the great work of Frankenstein. Mary Shelley was a great women that inspired many in today’s society and whose success as a young writer is unprecedented.
Mary Shelley was born August 30, 1797 Somers Town, London, United Kingdom (Johnson). Her mother died ten days after her birth. Mary never knew her mother but she figured that she was a great woman. At the age of 18, Mary is mother received a poor education, she left home and never went back. She became a companion to a widow in Bath for a short period, then moved back to London first to Fulham and then to Hackney. In 1784, at the age of 24 Mary Wollstonecraft her mother opened up her own school for girls at Newington Green. She never really had the chance to meet her mother. She lived was raised by her dad. Brought her own children into the union (Leighton). Mary was quiet in grade school she never really talked to anyone;she stayed in books. This is probably why she was so talented. When Mary was 17, when she in High School, she was challenged by Lord Byron to his guest who writes the best horror story (“Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley”). The story was called Frankenstein.
Mary Shelley was very intelligent woman. Shelley’s personal life has sometimes overshadowed her literary work. She grew up with her brother in sisters it was a family of five. Brought up with her elder sister there last name was Godwin (Shilstone). Mary half sister Fanny committed suicide, and soon after that Percy’s wife did as well, leaving Mary and Percy free to marry (“Mary Shelley”). It was rough growing up in a family of five. She married poet Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1816. Two years later, she published her most famous novel,The book Frankenstein. She wrote the book in high school. She was really young when she wrote the book. It was a challenge that she didn’t know that it would be that published. The teacher and her whole class said the book was great in that she was really talented. She traveled the world when she was writing the book of Frankenstein (“Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley”). It was four days after the challenge and still she had nothing own her mind to write about. She thought for sure she would lose the challenge. One night Mary fell asleep she had a dream. She dreamed the book of Frankenstein so they say. She woke up the next morning and she had a lot of knowledge so she just started writing when she woke up the book of Frankenstein. It took Mary six weeks to write the whole book of Frankenstein (“Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley”). She never knew she was that talented. The book of Frankenstein affected many people when it became published. Mary Shelley’s most famous work in her whole career was Frankenstein a challenge that was a High School (“Frankenstein”). She became very famous very fast. After her book of Frankenstein Mary decided what she wanted to go to college in. Mary went to the University of Oxford. Where she study writing. She was already famous writer she went to college to get her degree. She went to school to study and learn Greek, Latin , and Italian Language, Music and art and ambitious writing. During this period Mary completed another novel , called Valperia in 1823. Mary then wrote the book The Modern Prometheus was published in 1818. She published the book under her own name. Mary shelley was known best as a english writer.
Mary was married to Percy Bysshe Shelley he was a famous poet (“Mary Shelley”). Mary desperately wanted to open her whole heart to the poet, reading and stirred and moved her. Mary really liked this guy. Later on in life they had a baby together. Mary and Percy were married in London in an unsuccessful attempt to gain custody of his two children by Harriet (Leighton). Mary and Percy’s first child died when she was only a few days old. After the first searing realisation of their loss, marry saw to her horror that Shelley had all but collapsed from the shock. Mary moved to italy and had two more children that also did not survive. So Mary had three of their own children that died soon after their birth, and Mary fell into a deep depression that did not improve even after the birth in 1819 of Percy Florence, her only surviving child. Out of four children only one child got to see adulthood (Shilstone). Mary Shelley’s husband died and drowned while sailing The Gulf Of Spezia she tried to promote her late husband work (“Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley”). It seemed like everyone was dying around her. Mary life was hard after that. Loss of three children then her husband. Shelley’s life after Percy’s death was marked by Melancholy and hardship as she struggled to support herself and her child (“Mary Wollstonecraft
Shelley”). Mary had to stay strong for her child even though everything she been through hurts her soul she has to look at the bright side of things in try to keep a positive motivation to keep going. After six months or so past after all that she got a divorce. Mary life seemed like it was going down hill from there.
In 1814 Mary wrote in her journal: the driver, “a queer little fellow with a long pigtail.” Mary feared of banishing at any moment be arrested and dragged off to prison for debt (Leighton). Her luck was bad. Mary filed a lawsuit. The Shelleys’ situation improved when Sir Timothy increased Percy Florence’s allowance with his coming of age in 1840, which allowed mother and son to travel in Italy and Germany; their journeys are recounted in Rambles in Germany and Italy in 1840, 1842 and 1843. Mary Shelley was best known for a english novelist, short story writer, dramatist,essayist, Biographer, and travel writer but best known for her gothic novel Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. They where great books. She was a great woman she had a rough life. Mary made a window she worked hard to support herself and her son Shelly faced some opposition from her late husband’s father who had always disapproved his son Bohemian Lifestyle (Johnson). Mary became really sick over the years. Mary Shelley died in her sleep of a brain tumor. That was a horrible death soon her body was laid to rest. She died February 1st 1851 at age 53 buried next to her mother, father, her three children, and her husbands cremated remains (“Mary Shelley”). They was all buried in London England at St. Peter’s church in Bournemouth . After Shelley’s death, Her son Percy and daughter in law Jane had Mary exhumed from St. Pancras cemetery in London.Mary Shelley’s stories were collected and published after her death, as was Mathilda, a short novel that appeared for the first time in the 1950s. The story of a father and daughter’s attraction, it has been viewed as a fictional treatment of her relationship with Godwin. The verse dramas Proserpine and Midas and 1922 were written to accompany one of Percy Shelley’s works and have earned mild praise for their poetry. Critics also admire Mary Shelley’s nonfiction, including the readable, though now dated, travel volumes; the vigorous essays for Chamber’s Cabinet Cyclopedia, and her notes on her husband’s poetry. Mary Shelley’s death affected many she would always be known from the books of Frankenstein in the rest of her novels and stories. Devoted nearly all of their attention to Frankenstein after she passed. Mary Shelley was a great woman.
Mary shelley was a great woman even though she went threw the struggle she affected many lives and inspired lots of people. She will be none as a great novel writer from the book of Frankenstein. Mary Shelley lived a hard life but she lived up to her expectations. A great woman who was strong and talented and never gave up.
