In this research paper, I will discuss some aspects regarded to differences and similarities between living in Los Angeles,California and New York City, New York which will put this two cities in a different light and will define their particular characteristics which make them comparable.
At first sight, these two cities seems to be similar, but there are some aspects that set them apart such as population, buildings, development. First of all, I will give some information about this two cities.
Nowadays, Los Angeles is known to be the second largest and populated city in the United States and it is located on California Pacific coast. Los Angeles is a world leader in the film industry, entertainment, television programs and music records and one of the most important scientific, educational, technological and commercial of the world. Is the main point to enter in USA from the Pacific and it represents a great economic power. People are dreaming and looking for this city because of the favorable weather throughout the year with little rain, greate areas and the enormous buildings that fascinates them by their construction. Los Angeles remains one of the finest destinations for tourists. Apart from the good parts, the most unexpected factor of this city is pollution.
In Los Angeles there are many tourist attractions such as Chinese Theatre where you can see the fingerprints of american celebrities, Huntington Library in this place there are such famous works like ‘’The blue boy’’ by Thomas Gainsborough and many other important documents such as Gutenberg Bible, a copy of “Canterbury Tales” and second quarters of “Hamlet”. Park Runyon Canyo , it is a beautiful place for those who want to escape from everyday stress but that due to ocean and Santa Monica mountains. The Zuma beach of Malibu , is one of the best and famous places found in Los Angeles where you can have great fun, you can enjoy various dishes and try a glass of wine. Olivera Street it is a tourist artery which was represented during the Spanish, downtown of Los Angeles. If you are a shopping addict you can choose from crowds souvenir or dine at Mexican restaurants. A ride on Third Street it is a place frequented by tourists and younger.
Apart from the tourist attractions, there are many art museums that are a must see. The Broad is a museum which have an enormous collection of post-modern and contemporary art. The Gallery ‘’La Luz De Jesus’’ half of the attraction is that this gallery is located in Wacko, a kitsch shop with dubious books. The symbol of the city, in which people identifies with their country’s symbol is the Statue of Liberty. New York offers many things to see, done and taste than any other place on the globe. There are many famous tourists attraction such as The Statue of Liberty which is the symbol of America and one of the most famous places in the world. Who wants to enter in the statue, can admire some of the finest views over Manhattan. Times Square is another place that has become extremely popular which has become one of the main symbols of the metropolis New York. Although during the Great Depression Times Square fell into ruin, in the mid last century the city was clean, and the major corporations such as Disney were invited to build their headquarters here. Today, Times Square is a spectacle of color and light, with plenty of shops, theaters and restaurants, all overshadowed by giant billboards with advertisement. Even if New York is the city of skyscrapers, one tower is the symbol of this metropolis skyline – Empire State Building. It is the second tallest building in New York after One World Trade Center. This skyscraper was inaugurated in 1931. In sunny days, from the observatory of the floor 102, you can see up to 130 kilometers away in neighboring states. Central Park is the most famous park in the world and playground of New Yorkers. This giant park makes New York to be not just a ‘’concrete jungle’’ , but a vibrant and full of life city. Central Park prides itself with hundreds of attractions and events, such as Central Park Zoo. Strawberry Fields or the huge lake that turns into ice rink in winter and in summer you can walk by boat. The famous boulevard Broadway is the ‘’hotspot’’ of American theater. It is said that you can not leave New York without even going to a Broadway show. The most famous theatres from Broadway are Shumbert and Booth, both are on Shubert Alley. Cathedral St. Patrick is the most famous cathedral in New York, but also the most beautiful example of gothic architecture in “the Big Apple”. The Gorgeous building has an intricate marble facade, and inside is a huge organ, colorful stained glass, a canopy and a superb bronze statue of the Pieta. Even if New York is the greatest city in the world, it has some negative sides. Living in New York City is not easy, because the prices are very high and many aren’t willing to cope with this.
After seeing aspects and information of this cities, what is important for us to know are the differences of living. It is well known that New York have high prices at food, housing, clothes, transportation, entertainment than Los Angeles where the living is more acceptable, but if you’re rich that is not an obstacle. Another aspect is about the weather , where in Los Angeles is a good climate throughout the year, with low annual rainfall and acceptable grades in winter and it only snows on the mountains. But in New York is variable, the summer is humid, very hot, in the winter is cold and it has the best of all types of weather all year around. In contrast to Los Angeles who has two seasons, in New York it rains more and it has four seasons. All the food, especially Italian is very good and taste better in New York while in Los Angeles is known the Mexican food. There are different lifestyles, Los Angeles is diverse and a little behind compared to New York. There are so many public transportation in both cities, but in New York the subway goes to more places, even in London and the buses are also plentiful. In Los Angeles the connection between transports are rare and its not as accessible as New York. The subways in LA City for the most part only take you to attractions and work spots. It is not recommended to go by the car because of the created terrible traffic. At least in New York you can go anywhere on train and the buses run 24/7. The obvious difference between this two cities it is rent. In New York if you want to rent an apartment you have to get used to live in a very small place which is also expensive, it does not offer to you too many and forget about a view of the park. Instead,
