8 Celebrities and Their Red Carpet Skin Care Routines

One of the highlights of a celebrity’s career and life is attending red carpet events. This includes prestigious awards nights like The Oscars, the Golden Globes, and the Emmys; and specials like premiere nights of their latest movies. These events put celebrities on the spotlight, with co-celebrities, guests, and spectators watching their every move and taking note of what they wear and how they look. The pressure is real.

This is one of the reasons why celebrities always find time to prepare what they wear to these red carpet events. They start the preparations early, sometimes weeks or months ahead. The red carpet is like the hot seat, where everybody looks at and observes you – your movements, what you say, who you are with, and how you look. While there are celebrities who clearly do not care what others say, they still do everything they can to come out in their most fashionable and glamorous best in these events.

The Importance of Proper Skin Care to Celebrities

Celebrities are like all of us. They want what we want (although in varying degrees) and they dream big dreams like we do. They like the people around them to appreciate who they are. Like you and me, they want to look and feel good. The pressure is greater on their part though because they are always under the scrutinizing eyes of the public. Many people like to say celebrities are public property, so they should always do things that please the general population.

While this should never be, because no one can dictate what you should do regardless of whether you are a celebrity or not, these famous people know only too well. This is why they, especially female celebrities, try their best to look good on every occasion where the public can see them. This is not to say, however, that they should do only the things that others want them to do, or that they should be who their followers or fans want them to be. It’s just that when you are a celebrity, looking good is important.

This is the reason why celebrities invest on looking good. And an essential part of this is proper skin care. As such, many celebrities allot time (and money) on keeping their skin looking and feeling fresh, youthful, and healthy. And this is highlighted even more when they need to guest in a live TV show, attend a special event, or walk on the red carpet.

So despite their hectic schedules, celebrities will always find time to visit their favorite spa or call on their trusted aesthetician when something special is coming up, like a red carpet event.

What do you think celebrities do to prepare for a red carpet event?

8 Celebrities and Their Red Carpet Skin Care Routines

It has always been a wonder for many of us what celebrities do to make them look extra glowing and gorgeous when red carpet season sets in. Well, there’s no big secret actually because we all know what they do. They take good care of their body (health) and their skin!

Some may say that celebrities have it easier because they can hire fitness trainers and aestheticians, and they can go to high end gyms and spas. But you’ll be surprised to know that many of them actually just stay home and do their usual skin care routine. Of course, there are skin care products they specifically use, but at least you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on spa and facial treatments if you want to get their special celebrity glow!

Check out how eight of the most popular celebrities prepare their skin for the red carpet season. Take note of their skin care routines and try them on yourself!

1. Jennifer Lawrence

The Hunger Games star and Oscar winner has always been comfortable with how she looks. She’s one of the celebrities who does not subscribe to the skinny look to satisfy others. While she swears to never starve herself just to get a part, Lawrence places a high value on proper skin care.

To prepare for her red carpet dates, Lawrence detoxifies by taking regular Epsom salt baths. And as stress can have negative effects on the skin, she fights it by drinking a combination of chamomile and dandelion tea. Lawrence says this helps flush away toxins, which are bad for the skin.

This may seem like a simple routine, but staying true to it and exercising proper discipline in doing it can work a lot of wonders on the skin. And Jennifer Lawrence is a perfect testament to this. She always looks so relaxed and fresh on the red carpet.

2. Sofia Vergara

The Modern Family star is loyal to Sonya Dakar’s Apple Stem Cell Facial. Apart from this, however, the actress also likes using St. Tropez Tan, which she uses to help illuminate her skin and make it look bronzed and golden. She sprays St. Tropez’s Make Me Glow to get the red carpet look she desires. The actress also uses the treatment to get her body polished.

Vergara complements her skin care routine with a healthy lifestyle. She said she does everything in moderation – eating and exercising included. The regular workouts (dancing) give her skin a natural glow.

Her skin benefits from all these favorites as she never fails to grab the spotlight whenever she walks the red carpet.

3. Cate Blanchett

Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett is very easy to please when it comes to skin care. She likes getting a natural glow for the red carpet season and for this, she relies on only one thing. Her makeup artist reveals that she uses SK-II Facial Treatment Mask to prepare the actress for the red carpet.

While Blanchett relaxes, her makeup team uses a cleanser and toner on her face. She relaxes with a manicure and pedicure while someone works on her hair. He facial treatment mask is then applied. It’s a simple routine that the actress has been doing for years, but it never fails to give her what she wants: that completely relaxed look and feeling, and a radiant red carpet glow.

Can you guess Cate Blanchett’s age just by looking at her? Your answer is as good as mine!

4. Alica Keys

Whether walking on the red carpet or strolling down her favorite part of town, Alicia Keys is so refreshing to look at. Credit goes to her no makeup advocacy, which she started practicing in 2016. While some women would cringe at the thought of going to public places and events without any makeup on, Keys is all smiles about it – because she follows a good skin care routine.

For Keys, it is important to keep the skin cool (bringing blood to the face). She does this with the help of a jade roller dipped in ice. Once the roller is freezing, it is rolled on her skin. This helps tighten the pores on her face.

Keys also relies a lot on grated cucumber, which she place on her eyes and every other area that she wants to brighten up.

The singer’s favorite skin care products form part of her regular routine. She uses a cleansing tonic (MV Organics 9 Oil Cleansing Tonic), Pure Jojoba Oil, and MV’s Instant Revival Booster. Like Blanchett, Keys also relies on he SK-II Facial Treatment Mask to give her that red carpet glow.

Other products the singer uses regularly include the Self-Tanning Anti-Age Serum from Vita Liberata and the Eminence Clear Skin Probiotic Masque.

If you religiously take care of your skin the way Alicia Keys does, you, too, will be extra confident to walk the streets – and the red carpet – without any trace of makeup. Are you willing to take the challenge?

5. Rachel Weisz

The beautiful actress is one of the many celebrities who visit facialist Joanna Vargas days before any red carpet event. According to Vargas, the skin care routine starts one month before Weisz and her other celebrity clients walk on the red carpet.

One of the most popular treatments is the Triple Crown Facial, which helps remove puffiness while toning muscles and tightening the skin. Actually, it’s a regular facial treatment that should be done at least once a month.

For skin detoxifying, the best treatments is the Power Peel. Weisz’s natural glow comes out after regularly using LED therapy and oxygen treatment. This helps the hydrate the skin so that it becomes vibrant and bright again.

For breakouts, the most effective solution is regular exfoliation by using an Exfoliating Mask during the Triple Crown Facial.

It seems like a lot of things happen in a month’s time. But why would anyone complain if it makes them look as gorgeous as Rachel Weisz, right?

6. Cameron Diaz

The funny and lovable actress prepares for her red carpet appearances a week before the actual date. She usually works with pain management expert Vicky Vlachonis.

Six days before the event, Diaz is advised to take a salt-and-pepper bath. To achieve complete relaxation, it is best to light an incense or some candles. After 20 minutes, you’ll feel completely relaxed and recharged. And your skin will sport a natural flow. It will feel refreshed.

As the event nears, Diaz goes through a variety of treatments, mostly therapeutic such as a massage. Steam therapy is also recommended to hydrate the skin.

The salt-and-pepper bath is repeated two days before the red carpet event.

On the day she’s to walk on the red carpet, Diaz is advised to enjoy a refreshing shower, followed by the application of some therapeutic oils to some parts of the body to bring out good energy.

Diaz’s routine is more wholistic as it includes all essential parts of the body. What it tells us is that when a person feels relaxed, confident, and happy, she will look good. And this will radiate throughout – physical and otherwise. Her hair will shine, her skin will glow.

Wouldn’t you want to be as refreshingly beautiful as Cameron Diaz?

7. Victoria Beckham

This is actually Posh Spice’s regular skin car routine, but it’s guaranteed to be part of her red carpet preparation, too.

Beckham confessed to having problematic skin when she was younger. So when her dermatologist advised her to “eat salmon daily”, she did. For those who do not know (yet), salmon is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for preventing inflammations.

Apart from this, however, the Spice Girl and mother of four also swears by several skin care products that she uses regularly. She has regular oxygen facials at Lancer and diligently does The 3-step Lancer Method: exfoliation, cleansing, and moisturizing. This helps bring out her skin’s natural glow.

The fashion icon also likes visiting the spa regularly, particularly New York City’s Geisha Facial at the Shizuka Day Spa. She goes there for the powdered nightingale droppings, which is part of the skin exfoliation and brightening treatment.

Her favorite facial products are 3D Moisture Infusion, Stem Cell Collagen Activator, and Skin Insurance SPF 30, all from Sarah Chapman.

Beckham knows how to rock the red carpet and this is all thanks to her regular skin care routine and favorite facial treatments. It’s quite an expensive hobby, but it does give off a nice reward, right? Remember, you owe it to yourself to look and feel good!

8. Kylie Jenner

Like Backham, Kylie Jenner has a regular skin care routine and enjoys using her favorite product finds.

The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family actually has her own makeup business, so she knows what she’s doing. Jenner likes to use a variety of skin care products, including those that you can purchase from the drugstore. She regularly uses Mimosa Bloom Dream Cream, a mineral sunscreen that’s available for only $30, Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, face masks from Sephora, and Makeup Remover Wipes from Neutrogena.

These are all part and parcel of her regular skin care routine. It’s affordable and it works, so it won’t be a surprise if she actually uses these products to help her prepare for red carpet day.

Again, a reminder: Celebrities are like us. They want to look good and feel good all the time. They just work extra hard (and spend a lot more) because they are constantly in the limelight, especially on red carpet day. But this is not to say that you can’t try out their skin care secrets! Anyone can! Which one do you want to try now?
