A healthy lifestyle can be defined as a certain way of living that normally lowers the possibility of an individual falling sick or even dying early. It is not possible to prevent a large proportion of deaths especially those from the heart and lungs but at the same time it is possible to avoid them. A lifestyle that is healthy makes one very fit, strong as well as reduces the risks of certain diseases. A healthy lifestyle is based on the various choices that we normally make in our day to day lives. The foundations to a healthy lifestyle are based on many things but the most crucial all come down to one concept, maintaining a healthy body weight.

Eating healthy is one of the ways that can make one die healthy; we find that it is therefore very important to observe what we eat. This is because our body systems depend on the continuous supply of nutrients that we give to our bodies’. The nutrients are mainly from the food we eat and they include vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals and fats. Due to these, we need to take different types of food so that we can ensure that our bodies get all the relevant nutrients. Our diet should contain vegetables, whole grain as well as fruits

We find that our society is changing so much especially when it comes to the kinds of food we eat. Most of the people do not know how to prepare various types of food and hence they end up eating processed foods which are not very healthy and not eating a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. This is mainly caused by the tight schedules that people have an in turn this has led to high levels of obesity as well as diseases related to diet such as diabetes and high blood pressure. This makes people die very unhealthy and hence it is important to avoid such eating habits so that we can be healthy and die healthy.

It is not just what we eat that is important it is also, how much we eat. Systematic studies have shown that providing individuals with larger portions of foods and beverages leads to substantial increases in energy intake. Our eating habits need help. Fast food, high-calorie desserts, sweet drinks, and more have filled us up — and out. Most adults and 1 in 3 children in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Changing the way you eat can be easy. The challenge is to find strategies to effectively manage the effects of portion size.

One approach involves teaching people to select appropriate portions and to use tools that facilitate portion control. Although tools such as portion-control plates have been shown in several randomized trials to improve weight loss, limited data are available on whether education and tools lead to long-term changes in eating behavior and body weight. Another approach is to use pre-portioned foods (PPFs) to add structure to meals and minimize decisions about the amount of food to eat. A number of randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the efficacy of both liquid meal replacements and solid PPFs for weight loss and weight loss maintenance, but it is not known if they lead to better understanding of appropriate portions. Although portion control is important for weight management, urging people simply to ‘eat less' of all foods may not be the best approach as high-energy-dense foods disproportionately increase energy intake compared with those lower in energy density. A more effective strategy may be to encourage people to increase the proportion of foods low in energy density in their diets while limiting portions of high-energy-dense foods. If people lower the energy density of their diet, they can eat satisfying portions while managing their body weight. Start downsizing to healthy portions and your body will, too.

Additionally, what we eat affects how we feel. Food should make us feel good, it tastes great and nourishes our bodies. However, there many people who utilize food as a “crutch,” to get them through things whether is it being used as a reward or as emotional support. While this may help in the short term, eating to soothe and ease your feelings often leads to regret and guilt, and can even increase the negative feelings. You are not actually coping with the problem causing the stress. However,  by learning how to make healthier and more mindful choices, you may be able to control compulsive eating, binging, and weight gain. By taking charge of your appetite, you may also gain a feeling of calm, high energy levels, and alertness from the foods you eat.

Being body healthy is a choice, you can continually find new ways to change your eating habits as well how eating affects you.  Find health choices for snacks and plan ahead, knowing what you will eat ahead of time can help you avoid buying unhealthy foods (impulse buying) or eating at fast-food restaurants. Plan your dinners at the beginning of the week so you can prepare healthy, well-balanced meals each evening. Prepare some dinner components ahead of time (such as chopping vegetables.) This will allow you to put together a healthy meal more quickly at the end of the day. Get rid of unhealthy foods, replace your candy dish with a bowl of fruit or nuts.It may take a while before you can turn your unhealthy habits into new, healthy ones. Remember, it took you a while to form your habits, it may take you just as long to change them. Once you gain control of your eating habits, you gain control of yourself.

Another choice that that one should make in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to exercise regularly. This is because exercising helps in the burning the excess calories that are in our bodies. When we do not disburse the excess calories in our bodies, then there is a high chance of one gaining weight. Too much weight in one’s body increases the risk of heart diseases as well as cancer and can lead to early death. It is therefore recommended to take part in routine exercises so as to maintain a healthy body. The department of health has come up with various guidelines that can help out individuals in their physical fitness activities. These guidelines concentrate on strengthening of the muscles, weight lifting and aerobic exercises. The guidelines recommend that one should work towards completing approximately 150 hours of exercise per week. To start with, these exercises should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor especially for adults who are inactive. Yoga is also a recommended exercise since it improves the flexibility of the body.

It is so evident that most of the people are not engaging in exercising activities due to the various changes that are taking place in our society today. For example, we find that most of the people are so busy with work and family commitments such that they find it easy to put aside physical activity aside in order for them to fulfill other duties of life. It very essential for people to exercise despite their busy lives  since it brings about so many health benefits which in turn makes one  die healthy when the right  time comes. Taking part in regular physical activity improves one’s energy levels and hence you start living a healthy lifestyle.

We can therefore conclude that we are all responsible for the kind of lifestyles that we live. Whether it be changing our eating habits or just adding exercise into our daily routine, the best way to die healthy is to live in a healthy body.
