Jennifer Pan born June 17, 1986 in Toronto Ontario Canada is a Vietnamese – Canadian woman who will now be spending a minimum of 25 years in prison before she is eligible for parole for the hire to kill off both of her parents.
Jennifer's parents were Vietnamese born immigrants to Canada. The couple came to Canada in 1979 and were married in Toronto. The couple had two children. Jennifer was the oldest sibling and was born in 1986, her brother Felix was born in 1989. The couple was a hard working pair and did well providing for their two children. By 2004 the couple has worked hard enough to be able to purchase a large home in Mark Ontario. The Jennifers parents had set the bar very high for both their children and had very strict rules. Jennifer was to be involved in many activities in order to enhance and enrich her along with keeping her busy all the time so she wouldn't have time to be involved in any other inappropriate activities. Jennifer's parents enrolled her into piano lessons at the age of 4, along with figure skating. Jennifer was dropped off at school and picked up everyday. She was always carefully watched and monitored by her parents all the time. Jennifer was so closely monitored that she had never attended a high school dance, the prom or ever aloud to date. Jennifer had lived a very secluded life hided away from all activities, when Jennifer was 22 she still had no idea what it was like to have a drink, go to a club, or even spend the night with friends.
Jennifer did have her parents fooled tho, she had not lived up to their expectations, in high school she was forging report cards, and had failed calculus in her final year of high school. This is when Jennifer was denied access to University and her life changed and the real lies began. Jennifer did not want anyone most importantly her parents to know that she had not lived up to their standards. Jennifer told her parents that she was accepted to the University of Toronto in the pharmacology program and that she had received scholarships as well. None of this was true, in fact Jennifer was spending her days in a cafe writing out books of material to show her parents what she was learning in school. Jennifer also would work in a restaurant to make money for herself. Jennifer had convinced her parents that it would be better and easier for her and her studies if she could stay with a friend closer to school, this being another lie as Jennifer was staying with her boyfriend who in the end would play an important part in the hit for hire on her parents.
Jennifer's lies didn't end there, she then proceeded to tell her parents that she would be volunteering the hospital for sick children and would be spending less time at home. This did not sit well with her parents as they did not believe this and starting to question things. Jennifer was caught, her father caught her lying and knew she did not volunteer at the hospital, did not attend University and had never even graduated from high school. Jennifer was forbidden to see her boyfriend Wong and had to work to complete her high school education. Jennifer was now 24 and still living under the strict rules of her parents, her boyfriend Wong did not want to sneak around and hide to see her. Wong strayed away and began to date other woman. This enraged Jennifer and again when things were not going her way force to tell more lies. Jennifer told Wong, she was attacked and gang raped in her own home. The lies did not end there , she then pretended that a bullet had been mailed to her and it was from his new girlfriend, it was clear the Jennifer was already making the lies worse.
Jennifer had now spun out of control and in 2010 had been in touch with an old friend a guy by the name of Andrew Montemayor, the 2 had gone to high school together. Montemajor had given Jennifer the name of a guy he knew who might be able to help her out with her family problems and her “tiger parenting” parents. Ricardo Duncan was what was known as a “goth”. It is said that Jennifer Pan had given him a total of $1500 to kill her father, Ricardo argues against this and says that it did not happen. Jennifer was still in love with Wong and had convinced him that the two of them should give things another sot. This is the point where things would go bad, and Jennifer would make decisions that would affect the lives of many people. Wong and Jennifer had figured that she would inherit around $500,000 if both of her parents were killed. They decided they would look for a hitman and offer him $10,000 to complete the task. Wong was able to supply Jennifer with the contact information for a guy by the name of Lenford Roy Crawford. Lenford was also went by the name “Homeboy”. Homeboy then introduced another guy “Sniper” or Eric Shawn Carty, which then added one more player to the team, a guy named David Mylvaganam. At this time Jen had the men that would attempt to kill her parents. On the evening of November 8, 2010 Jennifer went to bed leaving access to the hitmen through the front door which she left unlocked for them. It was then that David and two other men entered the home, and ransacked it. Jennifer's parents were then ordered to go to the basement where the unthinkable would happen. Jennifer's mother Bich was shot several times and was killed. Her father, Hann survived his injuries and would later testify.
It didnt take the police long to figure out exactly what had happened and of Jennifer’s parents. . David Mylvaganam was the first to be arrested on April 14th, 2011. He was arrested in North York while shopping at the Jane Finch Mall. On April 15th, 2011 Carty was arrested and he was arrested from the Maplehurst Correctional Centre where he already was. Wong, Jennifer’s boyfriend would be the next one to be arrested and that happened on April 26th, 2011. May 4, 2011 was the day that the final man would be arrested. Crawford was arrested in Brampton. The trial began in March of 2014 and lasted 10 months. The police had a large amount of evidence, but yet all the individuals pleaded not guilty to all charges. Conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and first degree murder. Not everything added up, Jennifer said she that her hands had been tied, and tied behind her, but she made the 9-1-1 call. They were able to hand over 200 pieces of exhibits and they had over 50 witnesses, one being Jennifer’s own father. Carty case was declared a mistrial in December 2014. This was only because his lawyer became very ill. It wasn't until December 2015 that he pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit murder and was sentenced to 18 years. The four others, Pan, Wong, Mylvaganam and Crawford were all found guilty in December 2014. They would all receive a life sentence and no parole for 25 years.
