The way you choose to think can have an impact on your life. Positive thinking is a way of thinking that can benefit countless aspects of your life. The term “positive thinking” is vague and nonspecific but it is the idea around positive thinking and being optimistic that matters. Being a positive person is not as easy as it sounds. Negative thoughts have a way of altering your mindset and sneaking into your thoughts. The ability to alter a situation to create positivity and decrease excessive negative thoughts is the way to begin on the path to a more positive mindset.
When learning to increase positive thinking and be an overall more positive person, it can be difficult to begin and continue a positive thought process. One vital part of learning positive thinking is to eliminate negative self-talk. Negative self-talk is essentially just the thought process by which you self-loathe, put others down, or have frequent self-pity. If you catch yourself having persistent negative thoughts, try to simply replace each one with a positive comment. Another important factor in altering your mindset is to try and focus on happy and positive aspects of life instead of negative ones. No matter how small the good aspect may be, focusing on it will slowly alter your mindset and thus your world. Surrounding yourself with people who are also optimistic will encourage you to stay positive. Living in the present can also help bring positivity into your life. Living in the present focusses on continually changing as life does, and not keeping your thoughts in previous life events. When only paying attention to the past, it can hinder you from noticing everything good going on in the moment thus leading you to the conclusion that nothing superb will happen in the future.
The rewards that positive thinking can bring are mind boggling. Positive thinking can benefit both your mind and body. One of the prime benefits of optimism is a higher self-esteem. Self- esteem, also known as confidence, is the understanding of your worth. Increasing positive self-talk creates a positive self image. A majority of stress can be relieved when a person is more optimistic than pessimistic. Better mental health, increased immunity, longer life span and an overall better well-being are associated with positive thinking are just some of the benefits of looking at the world through what some may consider rose-colored glasses.////////////////////
There are a few things to keep in mind in order to become a more positive person. The first and most important aspect to remember is that nobody possesses the ability to remain positive at all times. Not everyone is naturally optimistic, it is something that can be learned. Everyone faces setbacks from time to time. The key to overcoming, however it is to believe that the situation is in your control. Allowing yourself to dwell on small negative events, or letting them control your life can be pernicious to your mental and physical health. There are a multitude of studies showing the effects that stress and negativity can have on the body.
Changing lifestyle choices to healthier alternatives can make you feel better about yourself which results in a higher level of positivity. Exercise and a balanced diet can contribute to that. When doing physical activities, endorphins are released inside your body. Endorphins are hormones that make you feel good.
Negative thoughts can have a major effect on your mind, body, health and wellbeing. When we stress and worry, we trick our brains into thinking there is a dangerous and immediate threat. When constantly having negative thoughts course through your brain, it can heighten the fight or flight response. Your brain will constantly think you are in danger. This makes tasks such as processing information and thinking clearly much more difficult.
The immune system can be affected by negative thoughts. This would make people more susceptible to diseases and sicknesses. The risk of developing a mental disorder such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, schizophrenia and mood disorders is more likely when a person is more pessimistic than optimistic. When our brain’s sense negative thoughts it reads them as danger so our bodies react to it causing excessive sweating, elevated heart rate, a rise in blood pressure and an increase in respiratory rate as well. These are all physical responses that occur as a result of anticipating danger. Panic attacks are a physiological phenomenon of extreme terror in unnecessary situations where these symptoms occur.
There are many ways to decrease the amount of negative thoughts somebody has. Although eliminating every negative thought is impossible, learning to significantly decrease negativity will be beneficial. Distraction is an easy way to get your mind off negativity. Anytime you catch yourself thinking a negative thought you should shift your focus to another task that requires concentration. The people who you choose to surround yourself with has a major impact on your outlook on things and whether or not it’s positive or negative. Ensuring that your closest friends and anybody who you spend time with are positive influences will benefit you. It is commonly thought that you become the five people who you spend the most time with. Another method could be looking at a bad situation from a alternative perspective which can give you a more positive view on it.
Studies show that the genes in our body can be altered from our thoughts. Studies done by epigenetics show that we are shaped by the events that occur in our life. Genes can be switched off because of certain life experiences that humans face. Thought processes create or alter the activation or deactivation of certain types of genes. Only five percent of genes are mutated based on a person’s health. The other ninety-five percent are influenced, one way or another by experiences in our lifetime. Some are in our control, such as the ones affected by diet, exercise and emotional states, but others, such as traumas from childhood are not in our control.//////////////
The more positive your perceptions, the more positive your genes will be. Studies prove this fact to be true. Lifestyle choices are correlated with the number of beneficial or harmful genes. Being aware of the thoughts you create can affect your health. This is due to the direct influence it has on your genes.
There have been studies conducted to give a better understanding on the impact of positivity and whether our minds have the ability to alter our perception of reality. Dr. Masaru Emoto conducted a well known experiment. In 1992, Dr. Emoto received a degree in alternative medicine from Yokohama Municipal University in Yokohama, Japan. He then spent years testing his hypotheses through experimentation. It was conducted with rice to show the results of negativity and positivity, as well as the power of words. He performed an experiment in which he separated three containers of rice. One f the containers was for positive energy, one was for negative energy, and the third was to be ignored. In this experiment, the positive jar of rice was to have kind words spoke to it. Statements such as “thank you,” and “I love you” were spoke to the first container. Hurtful statements were to be made to the rice deemed negative, such as “I hate you,” and “you’re stupid.” The third container of rice was to be completely ignored. After only a few days a noticeable changes occurred. The positive rice remained the same, the ignored rice was only slightly discolored, but the negative rice turned black. After a month, the experiment came to a conclusion. Dr. Emoto found that negative words create a negative result (the black rice) and that positive words create a positive result (little to no discoloration). This experiment has been created numerous times, always yielding similar results. If unkind words drastically alter rice, imagine what they do to the human mind. Negativity is like poison to the mind. It is easy to ignore in small doses, but over time it will lead to an early grave. ///////////////////////////
The Law of Attraction and the Principle of Attraction are two separate concepts that can create a desired goal or situation. The Law of Attraction, sometimes referred to as self-fulfilling prophecy is a principle that what you believe will occur, meaning that if you believe yourself to be intelligent, you will become intelligent. If you believe yourself ill educated or unintelligent, it will alter your ability to complete tasks, thus affirming your beliefs.
Although the Law of Attraction may seem too good to be true, it is not. Similar to the Law of Gravity, the law of attraction is how the universe operates. It is a real phenomenon that operates daily. The law of attraction is not commonly noticed on an everyday basis, but it is always there. The Law is at work constantly. The law essentially means what you put out into the universe you will receive. Karma is a well known example of receiving what you give.
In order to create a more positive lifestyle for yourself, there are some ways to incorporate the Law of Attraction into your life. Visualizing what you want to obtain is key to the Law of Attraction. Visualization is repeatedly thinking of what you want to happen until it occurs. Believing is also important. Not only do you need to visualize your desired goals, you must believe they will manifest into your life. Instead of merely thinking about getting your goal, you are to visualize having already attained your goal.
The Law of Attraction is a genuine phenomenon that occurs. It is believed to have been taught by Buddha. The Law of Attraction can also be found in many religious groups. Buddhism is largely based off loving and kindness. Buddhists thrive off of positivity. They not only seek positivity and peace with themselves, but also those who surround them.
Dr. William Tiller, a professor at Stanford University, conducted an experiment with a crystal which shows that the your mind processes information can have an effect on your perception of reality. In his mind of matter experiment, “a group of individuals placed their awareness on an electrical circuit.” They were told that they could dictate with their minds if the pH of water would increase or decrease. The circuits (that contained their monitored awareness) were then covered in aluminum foil and sent to a lab. They were then turned on, and placed next to a water sample. No one was allowed to enter the room and the conditions of the room were closely watched. The result showed that the pH of the water responded exactly to what the participants of the experiment intended. this experiment shows that consciousness can affect matter.
There are a multitude of experiments on how positivity and mindset affect the world around us. Another such experiment, called the double slit consister of the effects of the observer on the results of the experiment. It is noted that quantum physics is responsible for the double slit experiment. Quantum physics is the study of nature at the smallest scale (atoms). Even for those who have studied quantum physics for years, this is a difficult experiment to understand and exceptionally complicated to explain. The experiment works by having an electron or photon fired through a single slit where it will appear as a dot on film. When there are two slits, the particle no longer appears as a dot but as a wave. If the path of the photon is knowable, they respond as waves. It is unknown whether or not the photon is passing through one or both slits at once, if it is colliding with itself, or something completely different is happening. Once scientists try to answer these questions by installing a detector, the wave pattern is registered as a particle. This experiment leaves petiole questioning if human awareness have an impact on outer reality.
