Abortion has always been seen as something lethal that should not be performed no matter what. People protest and stand against abortion without really having any knowledge or been in a situation where abortion has been an option. In this research project you will get to see why abortion should be more supported by the general public and reasons as to why women should be allowed abortions.
Review of literature
Introduction
In this research paper you will see different situations women get involved in which leads them to consider abortion. Abortion is not something that should be protested or hated because women expecting have entitlement to their bodies and the decision itself is already very hard for them to make. Instead of going against it we should support a woman’s decision to do as she pleases because its only out of her best interest.
Hayt, E’s article states the opinions of high school students who are all against abortion and how pro abortion rates have decreased since the 90’s. Students are being taught about abstinence, contraceptives and the procedures of an abortion. They believe there is too many preventatives and that if someone gets pregnant they should take responsibility for their actions. Students mentioned the description of an abortion sounds like murder because you are killing someone with a heartbeat. In addition, with teenage pregnancy rates being low, teenagers couldn’t imagine having their own, leading them to say no to abortion. In conclusion, students are more educated about abortion and instead of being pro-abortion, they are pro-life.
I disagree with being an anti-abortionist because teenage pregnancy rates are high once again and abortion should be an option. Too many young woman are dropping out of school to raise a child when they aren’t even prepared to raise them since they are not even fully educated. The government is only having to financially support them because they cant do it themselves. how Secondly, abortion is “murder”. Something that was alive before the demonstration must be dead because of the demonstration. Meeting this rule alone is inadequate reasoning to mark something a "murder" Humans frequently execute things in circumstances where nobody could ever consider expressing the term "kill." We eliminate germs with disinfectants, and weeds with defoliants. We execute bugs, rodents, dairy animals and pigs and never get accused of murder. We even execute each other in mishaps, in war, in self-protection and nobody shouts out the feared "m"- word. "Killing" isn't the issue because humans continuosly do it all the time.
In de Medeiros Guimarães article the author talks about the experience a group of women underwent before and after obtaining an abortion due to sexual violence. To begin the author broke down the word sexual violence and described it as sexual intercouse that was forced by one of the participants, in this case the male. Sexual violence has brought social effects that has affected mainly women young in age, and has outcomes on physical and mental health. Another problem women who have been raped face, is unwanted pregnancy. Due to this, abortion rates in Brazil have risen. From the perspective of well being, abortion is terminating a pregnancy and can be viewed as hazordous if performed in tricky and insufficient conditions, or potentially by staff without adequate capability. Because abortions were considered a crime, only unsafe abortions would occur, which led to a increase in death of women. Brazil then passed a penal code which allowed women to obtain a safe abortion only if it was due to sexual violence. Next the author includes interviews with the victims of sexual violence. “What led you to choose abortion”. Most ladies reacted that they had settled on the correct decision since they didn't envision carrying on an undesirable pregnancy, created from a fierce demonstration, without their assent and their own particular want. They claimed the child would only be a reminder of their hostility and they wouldn’t be able to put them up for adoption either. When asked how they felt after the procedure, the most common feeling was comfort and peace. They described the procedure to be almost painless, and how it had lifted a big weight off of them.
I can agree that sexual violence is a leading cause of abortion. I believe that Brazil should legalize abortion for any woman, not only victims of sexual abuse. Just like victims of sexual abuse claimed they were not ready, so are many other women who did not get abused. Based on what women said the procedure felt like, there seems to be no threat as to why women should not get one if the wish to. The only thing I can agree on is how dangerous it can be to get an unsafe abortion. Which brings me back to my point on how legalizing abortion would lower death rates because no woman would ever dare go get an unsafe abortion.
Foster talked about an experiment conducted to see the effects on women who were denied or allowed to abort based on their financial prosperity by interviewing women who requested an abortion and those who got rejected. Participants were pregnant females as young as 15 with no existing fetal abnormalities or passing of fetus and were placed in groups. By analyzing females who desired a fetus removal and contrasting them to females who went just before the gestational age cutoff to females who arrived soon after, researchers got rid of astonishing variables identified with whether a pregnancy was undesired. This experiment was able to see distinguish a wanted versus a needed abortion. Their results (that had strong evidence) concluded that economical hardship comes from having an unwanted baby, and it doesnt come from being denied an abortion. Basically being denied an abortion won’t leave you in an economical hardship, having the baby will.
I agree that people who aren’t financially stable will struggle more if they have a baby, so an abortion is the best option for them. This just comes to show that doctors should terminate a pregnancy no matter what term the female is. I understand that it is dangerous for females but they know what they are putting themselves into and are allowed to decide for what they want done to their body. DeSanctis, A believes that “pro abortionists” aren’t exactly supporters of abortion but are actually “pro-choice” meaning they support each women’s entitlement to decide what she wants for herself. Researchers conducted a study on a group of women who received abortions and noted how each woman felt. None of the women claimed to be happy with their decision but that it was needed because of other situations. Due to this unhappiness the “Pro-Choice Movement” was enacted and aimed to cheer up women who received an abortion. This attempt was unsuccessful and only made women feel worse about their choice. Subsequently, the “Pro-Abortion Movement” can never bolster the privileges of every woman. It isn't about women’s decision’s or rights. It's tied in with securing the privilege to choose abortion, even to the detriment of ladies forced into abortion, and to the loss of all women who mourn as the consequence of losing a baby to abortion. Its true that people don’t actually support abortion itself but they respect a woman’s entitlement to her body. There is consequences after an abortion that a woman will have to live with but in the end they made the best decision because they just could not have a baby because of their financial status, or because they were undocumented etc. One thing I don’t stand on is creating a movement for women who had an abortion. It is already hard enough to live with the thought they aborted and creating something that will never make them forget doesn’t sound sensitive. This decision was no joke and women should not be constantly reminded on their decision.
