The collection will feature Monsanto’s signature combination of creative vision and timeless appeal as he launches his latest collection (presented by Peroni for the brand’s Peroni Moda fashion series).
“I embrace a style that is irreverent, unafraid, existential and provocative. With fashion, I aspire to create challenges for myself, while creating a whimsical world for my client. Ideally, they’ll tap into a form of expression that would otherwise seem unattainable. I am inspired by everything in my life, from the cold black objectivity of commerce to the warm subjective embrace of the muses,” says Monsanto.
Monsanto was inspired to create a unique and stylish Spring/Summer 2013 collection as a symbol of distinction, quality, and style. About Alexis Monsanto
Alexis Monsanto studied fashion at the Otis/Parsons School of Design. In 2012, he opened his own design studio, ALEXIS MONSANTO ATELIER, on West Hollywood’s highly-coveted Melrose Avenue fashion strip. Today, Monsanto continues to work on his black label collection under Alexis Monsanto Atelier. His latest concept collection is a.m.l.a., an interdisciplinary exercise with its focus on the creation/production of clothing, shows, and fashion installation. The range focuses on Monsanto’s signature aesthetic and design approach. An exercise in balancing the tension created between contrasts and duality, the dichotomy of androgyny and femininity, vulnerability and confidence, and restraint and excess. The collection itself draws from a base of soft tailoring, directional feminine silhouettes, minimalist sophistication paired with street sensibilities, and a keen eye for construction and quality. In addition to designing his own line, Monsanto has created capsule collections for Fluxus, Artisan De Luxe, Ron Herman Vintage, all made in Los Angeles, and recently launched a menswear line with Cado Clothing last August at the PROJECT Show in Las Vegas.
