Owning one of the biggest company in New York at 25 years old, is quite an achievement isn't it? I started with nothing and climbed my way up to the top. I have a very lovely villa here in NY, not to forget my vacation houses in London, Spain, France and Cancun. I have a privet jet, a yacht, a private gym, 6 cars and well, a lot more luxury stuff. Yeah, most people would say I made it. But this job, this rich life, it isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Most of my days are spent at the office. When I'm free, there's always other work related stuff I need to take care of. I only have a handful of friends, most of them being people who work for me. I've had a few girlfriends, but quickly discovered that they were with me for my money. Yeah, it's not always fun all the time. Especially not since the death of my sister Lillian and her husband Stefan… My sister was the only family member who lived in New York and whom I still talked to. She was a really good girl, had a lovely husband and a beautiful 5 months old daughter. She didn't deserve to die in that plane crash, together with her husband… I remember getting a call from the hospital, telling me that I needed to come over as quickly as I could. I remember arriving and receiving the horrible news. I cried for days and I'm not one to cry easily, but when one of the people you care deeply about dies, you can't help but cry. But mostly, I remember their baby girl Layla, being put into my arms with the message 'She’s yours now'

So here I am, a month later, taking care of not only my company now, but also a 5 months old baby. I knew I was Layla’s godfather, but I never thought I would actually have to be her father. And as much as I love my niece, or should start saying daughter, I know I can't take care of her. I can give Layla some attention and love, but not as much as she deserves. That's why I'm looking for a nanny.

Chapter two

Safiya

Safiya, What about this?' Maisha turns her laptop towards me, showing me another ad. ' Maisha, I don't want to work in a grocery shop where I get paid five bucks an hour. I'll have to work there for atleast 4 to 5 years until I can pay for university ' I sigh, running a hand through my hair. Maisha and I spent the last 4 hours spitting through the internet, looking at job applications trying to fine a good job that pays. See, I want to go to NYU to study Business Management, but the tuition and cost of attendance are way above my limit. At least for now, that’s why I'm looking for a well paid job, so maybe I can go next year. 'But babe, I don't think we'll find something better than this'

I sigh, shaking me head. 'There has to be something just keep looking' 'fine' she sighs. 'But let me me get us some snacks first' She gets off my bed and walks over to my kitchen. 'Dude! The only thing you have in here is some orange juice and wine' Maisha says. 'I know. That's what you get when you live alone and have no money' Maisha chuckles, going through every single one of my cabinets. 'Oh yay! I found oreos' I'm about to reply when my eyes land on something on my laptop screen. 'Nanny needed. Working days from 7 till 8, pays $50 an hour' My eyes widen. 50 bucks an hour? Holy shit, that's a lot. 'If you're interested, feel free to contact me on the number below'

Being a nanny? I can do that. I finished my school this summer so I'm free all day, I am good with kids and I happen to like them aswell. This sounds like the perfect job for me. 'Maisha! I found a job!' I cheer excitingly. 'You did?' She walks over to me and plops down onto my bed again. 'Yes, I'm going to be a nanny!’.

Chapter three

The call

What if it's one of those pervy old, lonely men? You know, one with a beer belly and his pants down his ass so you can see his crack when he bends over?' I nearly choke on my water because of Maisha’s comment. 'Or what if it's a woman who's like a real bitch? Like cruella de vil?' you know like real crazy? I laugh, shaking my head. 'Maisha stop. It's probably just a normal family. Just one where the parents have to work a lot' 'but what if it's not though?' I roll my eyes. 'If they're horrible, it won't matter because I'm there to watch their children. When they come back home, I can leave' I grab my phone off the table and dial the number that's below the ad. 'You're going to call right away?' I nod. 'Yeah, what if I wait another day and the job is gone?’ You know how much I need a job’ I stand up from my bed and walk over to the hallway. I don't want to call with Maisha in the room. I don't want to risk her making Maisha comments that will make me burst into laughter. 'Goodluck Safi!' She yells when I leave the room. 'Thanks!' I take a deep breath before pressing the green button on my phone. Here goes nothing. I patiently wait and after a few moments, someone picks up. 'Hello?' I clear my throat, being blown away by the sound of his voice for a second; low, raspy and. 'Uhm hello. Is this Mr. Knox?' 'Yes, who's this?' 'Hi sir. uhm, I'm Safiya I uh- I saw your ad on the internet. The one where you're looking for a nanny' I hear some shifting from his side, like he's getting up from a chair or moving around. 'Yes. You're interested in the job?' I nod, mentally smacking myself of cause he can't hear a nod through the phone Safiya, smart very smart. 'Uhm yeah. I am' 'good. Can we meet? So I can see if you would be a good fit for my..daughter?' My daughter. I pray he really isn’t one of those creepy old single dads after all? He'd be one with a pretty hot voice then. 'Yes sure. Uhm when would be a good time for you Sir? I'm good with every suggestion' 'now?' My eyes widen. Now? Is he serious? It's 9 pm already. 'Uhm yeah..like I said I'm good with every suggestion' 'Great thank you. I'll text you the address in a minute. I need to go. Layla is crying' without another word, the line goes dead. Well okay then.

Chapter four

The meet up

A good five minutes after the call, I got a text with the address like Mr Knox had said. Those five minutes were the time I took to wrap my head around what kind of man he could be. To be honest, he didn't sound like an old man. Maybe around his mid 30's? He sounded kind but not the warm kind, more like the formal kind of kind. Maybe he is some kind of business man? They tend to have long busy days right? Maybe he just got divorced or maybe his wife just died. 'Stop making up theories in your head and get your ass over to that man already' Maisha interrupts my thoughts. I look up at her and raise my eyebrows. 'Safiya, I know you. I know you're trying to figure this man out even though you know nothing about him yet' She throws me my jacket, making me chuckle. That girl knows me way too well.

'Well I should get going then' 'yes you should. Don't forget to call me when you get back!' 'yeah yeah. Bye Mai' 'bye honey!' I walk out of my house and get into my car. I put the address in my navigation and start making my way towards the destination. About 20 minutes later, I'm driving through the richest neighborhood of NY. I frown; am I driving in the right direction? I mean, I didn't expect this man to be poor, but would he be this rich? 'You've arrived at your destination' my navigation tells me. I park my car next to the road and look to my right. 'Og my fucking God' I whisper when my eyes landed on what's in front of me. I get out of the car to take a better look at the gorgeous house right in front of me. It looks like a damn castle, like a modern day castle. I could drool over this house for much longer if I wanted to, but I have an appointment to get to. I walk over to the gate, that of course is closed. I press the button and let out a shaky breath. 'Hello?' Again, that raspy voice doesn't fail to send chills down my spine. 'Mr Knox? Hi. I'm here for the uhm..the nanny position? T-this is Safiya by the way' oh smooth Saf. 'Yes hi, give me one sec and I’ll have the gate open for you. The front door is unlocked' 'Thank you' Just then I hear a buzz and the gate slides open and I made my way onto his property.

Chapter five

Warm welcome?

I take a deep breath, before opening the front door of Mr Knox’s home. Once again, a gasp leave my lips when I'm met with the prettiest hallway I've ever seen. The gray walls are decorated with some gorgeous paintings, that match the white floor. There are two stairs that lead to the second floor, coming together at the top. 'Oh my' I breathe out. It might not sound so special, but it's most certainly gorgeous. 'Mr Knox?' I call out. I have no idea where this man can be. And judging by the size of only this space, I know it will take me quit some time to find him on my own. Soon I hear footsteps coming from behind a door to my left, so I take a deep breath to calm my nerves. Once the door opens, I'm met with a guy, probably somewhere around 25 years old. Lord Jesus he's gorgeous. Maybe he's Mr Knox‘s Assistant or something? I mean, he does look fancy. I clear my throat. 'Hi. Uhm, I'm looking for Mr Knox. Do you know where I can find him?' The young man chuckles before holding out his hand. 'And I’m pretty sure you already found him' Found him? Is he..oh my god..wait what? My eyes widen and I raise my eyebrows. 'Y-you're him? you are Mr Knox?' I take his hand and shake it, although I'm not really aware of my actions. 'Yes. But you can call me Kaiden' I nod, simply staring at him. God, out of all the things I expected, I didn't expect this. I didn't expect the man I spoke to on the phone to be this gorgeous guy from around my age. 'You can let go of my hand now' Kaiden chuckles. 'O-oh god I'm sorry. I just-..' 'you weren't expecting someone like me to be looking for a nanny?' I let go of his hand and feel my cheeks heat up. 'Uhm honestly, no. I mean no offense but You're so..young' 'I know. Would you like some tea or coffee?' He speaks, dropping the subject. 'Tea please' 'take a seat in the living room. I'll be right there' as much as I want to know more about Knox I obey and walk over to the door he motioned at. I don't think I'll make a good impression if I intrude in his personal life too much. He doesn't seem like a man who likes to share personal matters. I walk into the living room, this time holding in my gasps. Yes, it's beautiful but I need to control my amazement that’s if I want to give a good impression. Especially since this is a job interview. Or something like that. I sit down on the expensive looking couch and wait for Knox to come in. 'There you go' he sits down in the chair in front of me and hands me over my tea. 'So, let's talk about my daughter Layla’.
