Technological democracy has rapidly developed within the decade, which graphic design has greatly impacted aspiring graphic designers through software and influential artists.

Technology has rapidly evolved within the past decade, through this graphic design has been apart of that accelerated growth. Throughout the years there has been many influential artists with their recognisable content that inspires many junior or aspiring graphic designers. Through technology the importance of graphic design has increased because of the advanced development of software technology. Graphic design has greatly impacted today’s junior graphic designers positively and negatively, based on perspective and because of this digital revolution. Social media have also had a major impact on the growth of graphic design which has an influence with society.

Graphic design is a broad industry although the revolution of graphic design within the last decade has evolved rapidly through the development of technology. From the style of designs to the software, it has remarkably improved. Adobe Systems Incorporated is a software company which was founded in 1982 that has impacted the innovation of the multimedia industry. They provide a series of software applications to create various content in different media forms such as web development, video editing and graphic design. Since the founded date of Adobe, the company has progressively become the most recognisable and used software company for people to create content. In relation to graphic design, the most used software applications on Adobe Creative Cloud are PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator. Although the company itself was founded in 1982, they progressively released these applications. Illustrator was the first released application on March 1985. About three years later they came out with Photoshop with its initial release date of January 1988. InDesign was the last of the three to be released in August 1999. Since then, all applications have had its own revolution as they have various versions. These versions being the compatibility of the hardware platforms, for example Apple Macintosh to Apple OS X or Windows to Windows 2000/XP, also the software application’s significant changes. Through the years of the graphic design industry transformation, Adobe successfully maintained its compatibility with all hardware devices making it accessible for people to produce their works making the revolution of the industry innovative. This positively impacts aspiring artists as the accessibility for designers are easier whilst having the quality of the final product exquisite.

In correspondence to the revolution of graphic design and technology, social media has been a large part of this innovation. The growth of graphic designers have increased rapidly throughout the years because of the revolution of the world itself. The growth of social media has blown up through the years and many people have successfully started a career by becoming social media influencers. Although social media has helped junior, intermediate or senior graphic designers to have more exposure of their works on the media. Jessica Walsh and Jennet Liaw are two significant design artists that have had an impact in graphic design. Both Walsh and Liaw are in different circumstances as one is the founder of a design firm whilst the other is a freelance designer. Although they have different situations, both designers are highly successful

in the industry through their knowledge of work, creativity and commitment. Both of these influential artist have an impact on aspiring designers because of their unique content and their belief of having your own style. Social media has been a large part of both of these designers. For Jessica Walsh, her content can be found on either her own design firm website, Sagmeister & Walsh o  r on  Behance  which is a website that showcases works by creative professionals. For Jessica Liaw, as she is a freelance designer, most of her works are found on her social media platforms such as  Instagram o  r  YouTube.  Through these social media platforms, they are able to present their works to the population of aspiring designers or the public. Social media has had a strong impact in graphic design although there are many positives with social media, there also comes the negatives. Social media is such a large industry and as the world is evolving into a digitalised society, graphic design is becoming a highly competitive career as there are many pathways to achieving the goal of becoming a graphic designer through the internet. Although these two designers demonstrate their success of work through the use of social media which inspires many other designers to continue their dream, as long as their content is unique yet communicates to the audience.

Graphic design strongly impacts today’s society as it is an important component in company branding. The growth of company and business branding, creation of content and other design aspects. Whether the company may be small or big, the communication of designs are important to get the main point or focus across to the audience. Without the growth of graphic design and its designers, company advertising wouldn’t be as popular and complex as it is today. Although graphic design is known for advertising, it has grown to be a large industry that aligns with other industries. As an example, apparel, web, gaming companies and the list continues. There are many positives and negatives that impact both the society and achieving graphic designers. As mentioned earlier, locating a job for graphic design has become more challenging within the past few years. Creating content also may be challenging in the graphic design industry as there are specific boundaries for brand advertising making it difficult to communicate the idea to the audience. Graphic design is not limited and is seen almost everywhere in our day to day lives. From media and paper advertising, commercials, branding and as the world progresses, the industry widens. The industry of graphic design is like a cycle, it challenges the society and designers to interpret a product. From communicating the aim to understanding the message then receiving the positive and negative feedback and the cycle repeats itself for other content. Society is a large part of the growth of graphic design, it’s important to receive the feedback from the public to acknowledge what is being visually communicated to them and to improve for future content.

Graphic design, the designers, technology and the society all have a large importance and impact with one another. Each one of these components have successfully grown and still continue to adapt new aspects to become its better self. Although each have its own positive and negative traits, graphic design has developed within the decades and has made it easier for designers to become more involved in the industry through social media. It has become easier for graphic designers because of the growth of technology and maintained compatibility with

software applications. Graphic design is an important role in our everyday lives and which it still continues to grow.
