In chapter 3 Studies on comparative growth analysis of different density in Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp culture with biosecure system was discussed . The present study was undertaken at a Queen shrimp farm in keelavaippar, Tuticorin district, Tamilnadu, India (Fig.2). The farm is situated at 9001’45.07’N, 78017’37.14’2 E and 20 KM away from Tuticorin dt. The farm is fully equipped and having all infrastructure and facilities like; reserviour, generator, aerator, electrical power, bird fencing and crab fencing. The soil structure is sandy and loamy mixed nature. Queen shrimp farm receives the water from direct sea. The salinity ranges 34 to 36 ppt throughout the year. The quality of the water is clean and good.
In the chapter 4 . Effect of Litopenaeus Vannamei growth and survival between commercial feed Vs commercial shrimp feed supplemented with Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed sap in laboratory condition was discussed. The farm laboratory (Century Aqua farm,Fig.3) is located at southern bank of Thamiraparani estuary in Pazhaiyakayal. The farm laboratory is situated in Tuticorin district about 16km away from Tuticorin, towards Thiruchendur. The study area located at 8040’02.68’N, 780 07’24.09′ E. The farm designed with proper infrastructure for vannamei culture and also equipped with laboratory facilities. The soil structure is compacted with maximum loamy , red soil and small percentage of sandy soil. The farm water source connects with fresh water river Thamiraparani. This river is one of important fresh water source of south part of Tamilnadu. The average salinity ranges from 5 to 25 ppt near to farm pumping source.
The low saline farm (Ramachandra aqua farm, Fig.4) is located at 90 20′ 28.46′ N 78059′ 51.63′ E on the northern bank of Nari estuary in Athangkarai. The farm is situated about 3 km away from Alagankulam village, Ramanathapuram district, south east coast of Tamilnadu. The nari estuary receives water from Vaigai River. The average salinity of this estuary is 15 to 20ppt for eight to nine month around the year. The estuary has good tidal amplitude.
The high saline farm (Golden aqua farm, Fig.5) is located at 90 6′ 15.71′ N 78050′ 01.98′ E in Kottakudi estuary (near to Koraikulam village) which is situated on the Ramnad district, southeast coast of Tamilnadu, India. It has a year round connection with the open sea. The average salinity ranges from 32 to 50 ppt. the soil structure is clay in nature. No water seepage in the farm. The farm is fully equipped and having all
infrastructure and facilities like; reserviour, generator, aerator, electrical power, bird fencing and crab fencing.
