People are very judgmental, and they make decisions based on some appearance. They treat women and girls differently based on their gender. We have been seeing discrimination over the female throughout the history. Women are as strong as men, and they are equally intelligent.  Women and girls are being discriminated because of their sex, and their roles, the role that was known for the female when the human race has started. In most of the work places, decisions are made among the men, and women and girls are not allowed to be in a top level position. Every year, almost half a million people are traded; most of them are women and girls, and they are used as an object for sexual pleasure. There are many rules and protections written for women and girls, but these rules are not enough to protect women and girls from being discriminated. This essay will argue the discrimination against women in workplaces such as Inequality in setting positions, in wage  and harassment by men, community by their rights and using them us objects, even in the families and  the reason of not applying the laws.
We are in the 21 century, and we are trying to get to the mars, but still discriminate towards women and girls. Since the beginning of the mankind, women have considered staying at home, cooking for the family, and take care of the kids, they are treated as a sitter for the kids, and they are treated as a housekeeper, it is understandable that women give birth to child and they should be closer to kids, but that does not mean they need to be discriminated, rather they should be rewarded, girls and boys grow up differently, girls tend to learn cooking, clearing from their mom, and other people in the family expect children of behaviours form girls, for a long period of time women are not allowed to go out in a public, and they were not allowed to work, time has changed, women no longer just stay home and take care of the family, but also go out and work, if women are working equally as men, and they do everything that men can do then why do we discriminate on the basis of gender, female, “To amend Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964  to prohibit sex discrimination on the basis of pregnancy” (U.S.Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 1978). Women get pregnant, and it is by nature, but why do they get discriminated on the basis of pregnancy, there are laws that prevent women and girls from being discriminated, but most of the time those are only on papers, and not used really, the Law cannot check each and every case of discrimination over women and girls, it is the society which has to go against female discrimination. It has to start with each house hold, father has to respect mothers, and sons have to respect sisters.
There are laws to protect women and girls for being discriminated, but there are no laws to stop boys club at workplaces., women and girls are not only being discriminated, but also harassed, working place for women and girls are unfriendly place, and they can’t feel safe, most of the time women and girls feel sexual harassment or employment discrimination, we all know that discrimination over gender is illegal, but workplace is a common ground for gender discrimination, in the past women claimed to have been a victim of sex discrimination in some of the big companies like Walmart and Morgan Stanley (Welle and Heilman, 2005), these are the big companies and they get attention, but not all work place discrimination is reported, most of the sexual discrimination does not come out because women and girls don’t want to come to the public and speak about it, they don’t want to risk their careers and social status, “But critics will argue that by focusing on this, the report will miss an opportunity to insist that the government should tighten up the gender equality laws and crack down on businesses which fail to tackle the problem” (Curtis, 2006), there are not specific rules/laws to track down gender Discrimination, women and girls will not come out and express the discrimination, so it is very hard to just protect women and girls from being discriminated,  some of the research shows that men and women are equally discriminated, but it was researched on small number of workers, there are some specific jobs like construction, manger position, they mostly hired men, and there are some jobs: nurse, air hostess, they mostly hired women, it is always considered that women are weak, soft heart, and emotional, but that is not true all the time, “When the gender stereotypes of the individual fit with the gender-type of the job, they are thought to have what it takes to perform well, equally as important, this congruence creates an expectation that the individual will succeed, but when there is a lack of fit, negative expectations result: the individual is thought to lack the essential skills and is therefore expected to be less effective” (Welle and Heilman, 2005), women are not getting equal pay as men do, men are always getting paid more, according to (aauw.org, (no date)) in 2015, women working full time in USA paid just 80% of what men were paid, so it was a 20% gap, the gap is being decreased, but it will not reach pay equity with men until 2050, the Equal Pay Act requires that men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work (U.S.Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 1978).
“Discrimination of women in the world is still a very real problem. Even though we have made huge strides against it here in America it is still devastating throughout the world” (rainbo.org, (no date)). We can see discrimination on women and girls on powerful countries like America, UK, Canada, just imagine how bad the situation in poor countries is, in some countries, women and girls are not allowed to go out in public, and talk to other men, women are not allowed to drive; they are not allowed to vote, and buy their own property, women trade is a serious case throughout Asia, Latin America, and Africa, women are being used as a sex slave, and they are the purpose of use and throw, in most of the countries there are no help for women and girls who are in a dangerous situation, women journalists are not getting treated on sport for their work, they are getting treated on their appearance and their sex, if we look at American football, we don’t see any woman playing a game, even the coach thinks that putting more resource into women’s program will take away the fun for men sports.
Discrimination over gender, especially women is a very critical situation, not only undeveloped countries, but also developed countries have a big gap in gender discrimination, women are the one who give birth to kids, but why are they getting discriminated on their development, women are caring, and they take care of their family, but it does not mean women and girls only have to stay home and take care of their family, they should be able to do what men are doing, they should be able to get any job and treated equally as men, women and girls are not getting equal pay, even there are rules to make equal pay, but it is not applied properly, there are specific jobs that only men get hired, why? Women are capable of doing the same job that men can do, women are being an object to look and pleasure, most of the advertise companies hire female, so they can sell their stuff more, any business that is related to fashion, women are the main employee, we can see a nice car, but we see a woman next to it, the customers of that car are men, so Car Company uses a woman to sell that car.
Women are treated as a use and throw objects, and they don’t have right that men have, women and girls are being traded every day, and they are delivered to men to become a sex slave, many organizations are working on to stop women selling, but that is not enough, government has to do something to stop it, women are considered as a house worker, they are not getting same pay as male, they are not equally treated in sports, they are being used for sex and pleasure; it has a deep effect on women and girls mentally and emotionally, there are many factors that women are discriminated as wages, health, and political right, the situation of women and girls in our society is becoming worst, we are in the age of technology, but our mind is full of judgment, and discriminating, just imagine what future will hold for the kids those who are born from women, rules and laws are made to prevent these kinds of gender discrimination but it is also not enough to prevent women and girls being discriminated against.
