Sex work is the provision of sexual services that allows sex workers to sell their body in an exchange for money or goods. Sex work can be an everyday job for certain sex workers because it can generate financial income and for other sex workers, it is a temporary job to make some extra cash. Prostitution is an act or practice of sexual services in exchange for something of value like money. Sex work and prostitution have the same meaning, same acts, same risks, same outcome and are often used interchangeably. But the two phrases are different because “sex work” is more appropriate towards the seller, especially women. “Prostitution” is a phrase that dehumanizes women. The word “prostitution” dehumanizes women because of its long-standing negative connotation in society. It conjures images of tawdry women on street corners trying to lure men into back alleys for illicit sex.
No other countries economically are superior to the U.S. The U.S. can expand their economy further than expected, but what is holding that back is legalizing this unlawful act that will certainly improve the economy. However, sex work in developing countries shocked their economy positively after regulating and legalizing it. In the book The Oxford Handout of the Economics of Prostitution, it stated that “Negative income shocks play an important role in influencing the decision to engage in transactional sex. These negative income shocks are amplified in developing countries where credit markets are imperfect and the poor often lack access. Prostitution in western Kenya functions as a kind of insurance to protect against unexpected income shock.” Developing countries, like western Kenya, know that their economy is poor and regulating sex work will amplify the economy and also give it support whenever there is a crash. Another piece of evidence that explains why the U.S should legalize sex work, according to Asadul Islam and Russell Smyth, mentioned that “Sex work in Bangladesh focuses on the organization of sex markets in one the poorest countries in the world, with poor economic opportunities and educational access for women. They show that while returns to sex work as measured by income are relatively high.” Developing countries have made important improvements to their economies due to legal sex work. Imagine a huge economy like in the U.S: sex work could bring in a lot more revenue than developing countries and having more jobs opportunities for struggling people.

The reason why I say common is that it’s practicing safe sex and get a checkup so you can know that you’re clean. In the U.S, the government already requires these things of porn actors but still does not regulate sex work. they already doing these requirements but still not regulating sex work.
Sex work is beyond having sex it’s more about working and getting money. In the last few decades, the combination of labor groups and unionization have helped to redirect sex work away from morality and economic justice. Countries like Brazil and India a few decades ago had a worker's rights movement to create an opportunity to expand labor working. In the article Beyond Sex Work as Work by Kate D’Adamo stated how sex work would help the economy, “Economic environments where earning opportunities are scarce,’1 has always been a significant part of the global economy. One researcher put the contribution to national outputs at between 18% (OECD countries) and 41% (developing countries).2 Sex work has always been a part of the informal economy. This means that as the power and recognition of the informal economy increases, sex worker organizing can be part of developing these new strategies for organizing, as opposed to trying to integrate later.” This piece from the article talked about a cruel point with the economy and how organizer can develop new strategies to focus on their campaigning on traditional wage-and-hour claims, the group focused on public policies and social protection programs.
