Poverty can be found all over the United States also in different countries. Poverty can have a negative affect on someones life and it can also help a person see the real struggle that people living in poverty goes through on a daily basis. Women is most likely the live in poverty more than man due the fact women are not likely to get a job before men. Poverty is also seen in the minority races because they are in the middle class and are more likely to struggle. Living in a world where money rules almost everything, it’s almost seems unreal to not have any. Money is the face of the most important subjects such as politics, sports, music, etc. When money and other nail necessities are more often used wastefully you have to wonder why does poverty exist. Poverty remains a big issue no matter what state, country or city you travel to. Statistics have proven that poverty have increased over the years and the numbers just keep increasing over the time. If people would change the way they live then poverty will change and the numbers would start to decrease.
In the United States poverty is very big and it has been been proven that some countries are worst than the United States. The United States also have it bad with trying to compare against other countries but it have also been proven that the number for property has decreased over the years in the United States.
The United States always try to compare their poverty problems to other countries, states or cities, it is proven that The United States is nowhere near as poor as the other countries, states or cities in fact it have been proven that the number for people living in poverty in the U.S. have decreased over the years. In the article The U.S. can no longer hide from its deep poverty problem that “Surely no one in the United States today is as poor as a poor person in Ethiopia or Nepal? As it happens, making such comparisons has recently become much easier. The World Bank decided in October to include high-income countries in its global estimates of people living in poverty. We can now make direct comparisons between the United States and poor countries(Deaton, 2018, Pg.1 )”. What this shows is that people in the United States try to compare poverty to other people in Ethiopia or Nepal that is really poor, it also shows that the numbers doesn’t compare to how many people in Ethiopia and Nepal is more poorer than people in the United States. There are many people in Ethiopia and Nepal that is more poorer than people in the United States. In the article The U.S. can no longer hide from its deep poverty problem it talks about how half of the people that is poor is living in the United States, “According to the world bank, 769 Millie people lived on less than $1.90 a day in 2013 they are the world’s poorest. Of these, 3.2 million live in the United States, and 3.3 million in other high-income countries ( most in Italy, Japan and Spain).” ( Deaton, 2018 Pg.1 ). This shows us that most people are lived off $1.90 a day in 2013 and they are mostly in the United States.
In Addition, The United States poverty is very big in todays society, in the article Poverty In the United States it talks about how the number for poverty in the United States have decreased right before the great recession, it also will discuss on how women and minorities are more in poverty than men and whites. In the article it talks about how women and minorities become poorer before men and non-non-minorities group because they are paid less and or don’t typically get they job because or their race and if they are women. “ In 2017, women had higher poverty rates than men and minorities had higher poverty rates than non-Hispanic whites, mainly because women earn less than men and minorities receive lower wages on average than whites. For similar reasons, adults with lower education levels are more likely to be poor (Pressman, 2018, Pg.1 ).” What this shows is that minorities are treated different and women are also treated different, those to groups are most likely to become poorer before men or non-minorities groups. In the article poverty in the united states it talks about how the number in the United States poverty level has decreased over the years and because the numbers decreased it is a good thing for the United States.
“The headline was that 39.7 million people were poor in 2017. This works out to 12.3 percent of the population or 1 in 8 Americans. The good news is that the U.S. poverty rate has fallen since 2010, when it hit 15.1 percent, and is now where it was before the Great Recession, The bad news is that poverty still exceeds the 11.3 percent rate of 2000 and far too many people are poor in a country that is so rich ( Pressman, 2018, Pg. 1).” What this have proven to us is that the number for poverty have went down over the years and the numbers are where they were before the great recession.
Finally, In the United States poverty is a “ pervasive human condition of being unable to obtain or provide a standard level of food, water and or, a shelter. It exists in every country in varying degrees and it is unlikely to disappear anytime soon. Poverty is measured in two different ways absolute poverty and relative poverty ( Fay B Page 1).” What this is proving is that poverty is big in the united states and that there are two different ways to measure poverty in todays society. There have been historical Changes in the poverty levels each and every year The rate of poverty is either declining or increasing over the years. “In the late 1950s, the poverty rate was approximately 22 percent, with just shy of 40 million Americans living in poverty. The rate declined steadily, reaching a low of 11.1 percent in 1973 and rising to a high of nearly 15 percent three times – in 1983, 1993 and 2011. However, the 46.2 million Americans in poverty in 2011 is the most ever recorded (Fay B, Page 3).” What this quote shows is that the rates for poverty is either decreasing or increasing over the years and it doesn’t get stop in one place, the numbers is either decreasing or increasing. “In poverty there are causes and effects that have an obdurate impact on things such Poverty and education, poverty and health, poverty and food, and poverty and crime ( Fay B, Page 9).” This have proven that poverty have a cause and effect on everything and people either don’t attend school, are sick, lack the intake of food, and commits crimes because they are trying to get out of poverty. In the article Poverty in the United States its discusses the issues, how the number have decreased, or increased, also the cause and effects that is seen in poverty, the historical changes and the way that poverty is measured.
In conclusion, Poverty can affect the person in a bad way or they can have a greater impact on life. Poverty can be located all over the United States, it can be mainly seen by women and minority groups due to the fact the women are not likely to get a job before a man and minority are in poverty because it is know for the group people not to be well off as whites. Poverty have decreased over the years but it is still very common. Poverty can be changed if people change the way they live and also if they change their different habits. Poverty have been shown all of the United States and different countries, sometimes people don’t have money to get a house or have food or to keep there utilities up to date so they are forced to move on the street. If we the people in the United States to come to common ground and help the people that are living in poverty, people can slowly start overcoming poverty and the struggle.
