This means for every 100 pit bulls that are taken away to a shelter, only 7 out of that 100 will survive, As a pit bull owner myself I find that devastating, I can name countless things great about pit bulls. There has been lots of discussion about whether people should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets. I am Angela and In my opinion I think people should be allowed to keep pit bulls as pets. Let’s face it, pit bulls have a really bad reputation towards their breed, mainly from those who really don’t know much about them. A pit bulls bad reputation doesn’t give the right for people to hate and ban them. All dogs can be dangerous, it all just depends on how the owner treats them and raises them. Pit bulls are great towards children.
A pit bulls bad reputation doesn’t give the right for people wanting to ban pitbulls. As a pit bull owner myself I can say that they have a lot of personality. Even as they age most of them stay very playful. They are loving and affectionate. They are amazing cuddlers who love and appreciate their owners and want their approval over everything. As I read this you may be thinking to yourself if pit bulls are so fun, loving, gentle pets, why do so many people dislike them. It is sad to say but sadly in the media there is a lot of false and junk statistics when it does come to characterising pit bulls. These numbers have affected their reputation and led so many people believing that these breeds of dogs are so called aggressive and dangerous. It is important to note that these dogs, are just like people, with their own unique personalities and traits and shouldn’t be judged by their appearance. Would you like to be judged by someone who hasn’t met you before?
All dogs can be dangerous, it really just depends on how the owner treats and raises it. When a person thinks of pit bulls they assume the breed is naturally mean and aggressive. Pit bulls only respond to the way they are treated as with most other breeds of dogs. Pit bulls are trained and selected for different things. If a pit bull is selected for their fighting ability, it means they are more likely than other breeds of dogs to fight. This doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be around other dogs. Other pit bulls are trained and bred for companionship and even work. These dogs have been raised to be popular family pets, they are noted for their affection, loyalty and they are very gentle towards humans. Pit bulls who are used for fighting needed to be handled by people so they aren’t aggressive towards other people. Also to add Aggressive dogs aren’t born mean, this might mean dogs might have been abused or starved into adulthood.
Pitbulls are very good dogs towards children, as I stated before I own a bull terrier, I also have a little brother, and all I can say is that they have an amazing bond, he enjoys being sat on and even pulled by him since my brother is young, but our pit bull doesn’t mind at all. Pit bulls are very tolerant towards kids. Parents should teach their child how to treat/act towards a their dog. Pit bulls are happy to be poked, sat on and pulled by children. Years ago pit bulls were raised being named as nanny dogs to look over and take care of children in someones family to keep them safe. If there is a pit bull in a house with children it is very normal to see the pit bull will stand guard over them to keep them close them safely.
Many people have said that pit bulls are bred for killing and attacking innocent people, they have said that the way the look makes them evil and unsafe to be around. However none of this is true its all just people believing false statistics and gaining thoughts that these poor dogs are awful and shouldn’t be kept as pets. They have been brainwashed by the media to think that these dogs aren’t to be kept but in reality this isn’t true. Pit bulls are just dogs who want nothing more than love and affection like any other dog would. They shouldn’t be singled out to be horrible they just have been displayed as bad dogs which isn’t what they are at all.
To conclude pit bulls should not be banned as pets and to be accepted into a house hold to be taken care of and be loved. Firstly I told you about how a pit bulls reputation doesn’t give someone the right to hate and ban them, then I discussed all dogs can be dangerous it just depends on how the owner raises and treats the dog, and lastly I explained that pit bulls are very good towards children. I hope you guys can realise that these dogs are the opposite of what everyone thinks of them. We should take a stand towards people who want these dogs banned from house holds.
