There is so many different breeds of horse too many too count. Some are used for specific jobs and some are used just for entertainment. Many of the horses are set up into different classifications draft, light horse, and miniature It depends on what you are looking for, for what kind of horse you need. Draft are for hauling and labor, light horse and for riding and work and the miniature horses are usually used for fun but they could also be used for work. Whether you like the style of a horse or just the genetics, you can say that horse are very resourceful in everyday lives.

One of the horses that is resourceful is the Dutch Draft Horse, sometimes they are actually called Nederlandsche Trekpaard. The Dutch Draft Horse first originated from the Netherlands and Holland. It has developed and adapted from the Zeelan horse. It also has crosses between the Belgian and Belgian Ardennes. The Dutch Draft stood out with astonishing work on large farms in heavy marine clay. The Dutch Draft was used numerous amount of times in Scott Holland. Everything was easier with a Draft horse like the Dutch, which is why they were so useful with hard labor. There is little Dutch Draft horses today because of modern industrialization.

The goal in Holland is to produce a large amount of draft breeding to create a humongous massive horse, who is strong and solidly built. The ideal draft horse in Holland is the horse should have a head with a straight profile, short, lively ears, and a strongly muscled chest with good feet and withers. It must also have a heavily muscled loin and hind quarters, with good muscle in the legs and good feet. You want the Draft horse movements to be easy and smooth. The horse should be able to do hard labor work for a long amount of time. If the Draft Horse cannot work very good like it should, you probably do not want that horse when you’re having work to be done. The Dutch Draft’s most valuable characteristic is that they are exceptionally quiet disposition and the un hurriedness of its movements. The Dutch Draft horses are very quiet but can turn a foot at any time because they are so large. They usually are can stand around 16 all the way to 19 hands tall, and can weigh anywhere from 1,400 to 2,000 lbs. They are known for being humongous and having a lofty height.

They help out small farmers on mixed farms in sandy regions and largely explains why the Dutch Draft is so often found in Gelderland and to some extent in North Brabant and Limburg. This is a very popular breed in the provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe, and Gelderland to the north may also be popular in that area. The Dutch Draft it the heaviest of all Dutch breeds particularly suitable for prolonged and heavy haulage or traction.

The Dutch Draft Horse may come in a variety of colors, it just depends. The Dutch Draft Horse can be up to colors as chestnut, bay or gray, and even sometimes black. The Dutch Draft horses are humongous, ideally you want the horses to measure 16 hands tall 64 inches, 162.5 centimeters and have good withers, hind quarters, and loins. You want their legs to be muscular and its hooves to be strong and firm at the same time. The Dutch Draft has more of a vertical shoulder encouraging more upright motion and conformation that is most wantable and appropriate for pulling. The Dutch Draft usually have a weighty bone with a considerable amount of feathering on their lower legs. Often at times you will see that the Dutch Draft will have a straight or curved Roman nose profile..There are not much left from this breed which makes them valuable. The Dutch Draft Horses are very obedient, they are very precise with their movements. They are known to act quickly when a bad situation comes up. They are steady and unhurried, but get the work done when it is needed.

The Dutch Draft breeds can be very desirable. Traits that are desirable can include perseverance, power and a mild disposition. These traits are very important when it comes to farmers, ever since the modern industrial age. The Dutch Draft are very employed and they can be used for things other than farming, such as shows and other competitions. The appetite of a Dutch Draft or just any Draft Horse is different with other horses. Taking care of a draft horse by feeding, shoeing, and watching out for them is expensive, which might make them less popular. It is very expensive if it is a heavy purebred horse. Their metabolism is tremendously large, even though it is like a ponies wherein draft horses have reduced  requirements per body weight compared to other horses like the lightweight breeds. Because of their size they have to eat a prosperous amount of feed and hay each day. Despite their huge build and weight, draft horses might require fewer calories, pound for pound, than rather some of the light horse counterparts. Despite having them be expensive to raise and such. The Dutch Draft has a downside to them, they are more prone to heat stress and dehydration. Since they are prone to heatress and dehydration you want to make sure you manage them carefully in hot temperatures. If you do ever turn them out make sure they are in an adequate shaded area and that run-ins are large enough to comfortably accommodate them.

If your draft horse is stalled maybe look into considering a barn safe fan to keep the air moving and the animal cooled down. As with all horse make sure they are taken care of including having access to fresh, clean water at all times. Draft horse are very valuable so you want to make sure you keep them that way. Like with all horses you may have to get new shoes or clip their feet. It helps them stay nice and clean if you can wash and brush with certain combs. You want to brush with the hairs, not the opposite of the hairs.

The Draft Horses are sweet tempered. They have natural curiosity and willingness to learn, which has led to their being well suited to a variety of pursuits. For pleasure they are used for  parades, trail riding and showing. Draft Horses are such good companion horses and are one of the favorites for their docile demeanor. The Draft horses throughout history have been critical to the civilization of work. The Draft horses are known for hard workers. The Draft Horses have familiar names such as Draught Horse and Dray Horse also describe the horse by what they were developed for, pulling a heavy load. Other draft horses are usually named after the country they have originated from. For example, the Dutch Draft are named after the Dutch. Draft actually means pulling loads or something that is pulled or drawn on the horse.
