Effective employee performance is an important aspect in many organizations. Normally, employee performance, as a key performance index, is influenced by different aspects within organizations. As in the case scenario, of the quality of the tuning elements, several factors could play a part in contributing to the poor quality of the components. In most cases, an effective employee has a unique characteristic of having good skills and being placed in a balanced environment that does support him or her. Under these factors, it is important for managers to have a prior understanding of these aspects and factors and object at controlling them and ensuring that they are controlled aiming at improving the overall performance of the employees and corporate architecture. The discussion below aims at making a comprehensive analysis of the underlying issue facing the company in context. The discussion will obligate at reflecting on several aspects such as training that have a possible direct influence on the performance of the employees in the department of assembling the tuning devices into cell phones.
As highlighted earlier in the discussion, training is among the factors affecting and influencing the performance of employees while carrying out their tasks in different departments in enterprises (Hayter, 2011). Training, mostly attributed to skill development and acquisition, presents a prime opportunity for employees to expand the knowledge base of employees. The issue arising in the assembling department can be attributed to the lack of skills and expertise. In this case, the employees might be lacking an open forum and opportunity of addressing their weaknesses in assembling the tuning devices thus leading to the poor quality. Assuming the management offered the employees an opportunity of training and developing their skills, there lies a strong likelihood that the employees will be brought to a higher level so that they have a higher level and have similar skills and knowledge relating to the assembling tasks shared to them.
More so, poor quality of the work carried out by the employees can attribute to lack of consistency. On a managerial perspective, training and development in the assembling department can be used to improve the quality of the tasks (Hayter, 2011). Additionally, attributed to the consistency is the aspect of employee satisfaction. Lack of training and development of employees in organizations mostly leads to dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction is a major drawback to managers as it leads to poor performance of the employees thus leading to the poor quality.
Lastly, lack of training in the organization can as well attribute to the poor performance and quality of the cell phones. Under some aspects, changes in the tuning devices can contribute to confusion in the assembling department thus leading to lack of cooperation and thus the poor quality. On the other hand, in cases where the management changes the assembling methods, thus leading to introduction of new assembling machines and devices, employee may be faced by challenges coping with the new equipment (Hayter, 2011). Normally, training is obligated at ensuring that the employee confidence and competence regarding the equipment is improved and thus improving their confidence while working with the equipment thus gearing up their quality.
There are issues that affect a business beyond their control such as governmental regulation and competition. These factors play an important role in the business ability to forecast staffing needs hence directly affecting the profitability of the company (Keller & Price, 2011). Customer demand is an issue that affects staffing in a business. The company is in business to provide the tuning devices and the consumers demand is high hence increasing the need for production levels. High production level drives the need for more staff, but the company is unable to hire more employees. In this case, the employees might produce poor quality work as they work under pressure. High consumer demand also contributes to reduced efficiency as there is limited time for training the workers in their respective field.
Governmental regulation is another factor that affects staffing in the organization. Minimum wages and compensations insurance are some of the limiting factors that affect the organization’s ability to employ enough workers thus affecting the quality of the tuning devices. Finally, environmental factors highly staffing in the organization (Keller & Price, 2011). Large companies labeled as a threat to the environment are required to work with protection agencies to ensure people’s safety. Phone Company’s falls under that category and thus the organization incur hefty charges from protection agencies. These costs affect the company’s ability to employ enough and qualified crew.
As pointed out earlier, training is a core factor for organizations assembling devices. However, apart from training, other factors may lead to poor results. One factor may result to the re-working of the tuning devices is the leadership of the particular department. Ethical leadership is a scarce resource and most leaders lack development skills in organizations (Keller & Price, 2011). Effective leaders act strategically, comfortable and they are volatile. Leaders ought to collaborate with other workers in order to get the best results. However, there is a possibility that supervisors carrying out the particular project have weakened leadership. Non- communication and overworking employees are some of the factors that accelerated the poor quality of the tuning devices. An organization ought to be stocked with leaders who skills are matched to future needs. This means that the leaders have the ability to hold many position roles for the success of the company. These organizations identify potential leaders and cultivate their skills. From the above incident, it is evident that most leaders are not qualified as the company often switches the managers hence there is no time for them to perfect in their skills.
Organizational design can help the company improve its efficiency. These designs include factors like individual capabilities and roles. Managing and improving the workers talents and capabilities should be the top notch concern for every organization (Hayter, 2011). Organizations ought to identify these special capabilities and cultivate them to bring about a successful organization. The list of the roles assigned in the company should be dynamic thus changing the firm strategies and priorities. However, there is a possibility that most workers in the phone company have been assigned in different departments. It is also evident that most workers are unable to reach their goals because they lack talents that are required in the company.
In conclusion, training workers in an organization are crucial as the employee’s performance depend on these aspects. Training improves the workers capabilities, saves time and reduces the production rate. Re-working of the tuning devices in the company could have been caused by a number of factors such as bad leadership and bad training thus, it is the company’s duty to increase efficiency. Cultivating talents and assigning workers according to their capabilities are some aspects that the company should consider.
