2 INTRODUCTION

The growth of interest on wireless as technology in the enterprise has brought about a consistence utilization of different devices and applications in the day to day operation of the enterprise.

Nowadays, market world where various organizations are established everywhere and workers are progressively more mobile, organizations are able to equip their employees with access to vital information anytime and everywhere as a strategic asset. The idea of anytime and everywhere access to crucial business information attracts much interest among enterprises which leads to a huge increase in the mobile workforce. The course of mobility is comprehensive for management professionals. The area of mobility in the revolution of wireless at the end gives every business access to quality information at any time and everywhere (Nelson, 2000).

Therefore, an organization capable of attaching the power of mobile technologies to schedule its business and streamline business processes through mobile applications may reap the benefits of improved performance, low cost of operation and increase in the satisfaction of customer.

The performance of mobile workers can be linked up with the help of wireless technologies through an improved means of making decision, less paperwork and reduced cycle times for transactions and billing. The drivers of mobile applications used presently comprised of sales executives, maintenance workers, delivery staff, field technicians and workers in the retail and manufacturing industry. With the current competition going on in the market world requires every organization to establish sound wireless strategies. The use of wireless handheld devices such as cellular phones and laptops helps most organizations to conduct commercial transactions online. This enables mobile commerce transactions to grow and the term includes the purchase and sale of a wide range of goods and services, online banking, bill payment, information delivery and so on (Varshney and Vetter, 2000), Yuan and Zhang, (2003), Vrechopoulos., Constantiou, Sideris, Doukidis, and Mylonopoulos, (2003)).

Today, wireless technologies has contributed to the growth of economic opportunity by means of assisting people to develop their knowledge and skills, identify, apply and qualify for well paid jobs, managing their disposable income wisely and manage their own business efficiently.

Since wireless technologies have an essential impact, the most important approach organizations can use to expand economic opportunity is to get the modern day technologies and at the same time compel the development and diversification of relevant content, application and services. Organizations are working on creating additional economic opportunity impact by operating on introducing local firms into their business ecosystems such as manufacturers, and software developers (Porter and Mark, (2006):

Wireless technology enables employees of an organization to carry out a multi-task, which is not limited to an area of understanding only. For instance, wireless technology opens various possibilities to communicate with customers in a cost effective way, enable employees to maintain a cordial relationship with customers, perform projects successfully form the beginning to end, stay in touch with book-keeper and administrative staff of an organization (Tudor, 2003).

Expansion of wireless technologies depends on the combination of hardware and software development. The current technology has the ability to achieve much modification with the presence of wireless applications able to download both data and images at a transfer rate faster than most local area networks (Gilkes, 2001).

Fitchard, (2002) explains the presence of Microsoft in this wireless age, adapting Microsoft Windows operating platform to wireless applications. Wireless technology for business also depends on the Global Positioning Satellite system, which can allow transfer or handling of massive amounts of data within users. A hybrid hardware/software architecture involving multiple processors can be used as a platform for real time wireless GPS applications with various functions, features and capabilities (Gilkes, 2002). At the beginning, global satellites were designed to help the military, thus provide the technological infrastructure to expand wireless technology for business uses.

Preimesberger, (2003) describes the efforts expended on the research and development on wireless technologies by organizations that are willing to take the risk with promising new technologies at a considerable venture.

According to Bill Gates’ keynote for the Microsoft mobility developer’s conference “We are going to invest and invest to make our mobility platform, which will be rated the fastest moving of all our businesses” (Torode & Lingblom, 2003). Such investment will result to wireless technologies revolutionizing the way the world does business, and how everyday people play and communicate (Business Wire, 2003).

Aslop, (2002) asserted the opinion of the users, the next level of wireless technology brings about a complete incorporation of all information needs, such as banking, appointments, stock trades, reservation of tickets, booking of hotel rooms and delivery of package and so on.

Wireless permits communication through handheld devices for every business, fulfilling the promise of one to one personalized pricing strategies right to an individual’s hip pocket (Nelson, 2000). Expansion and usage of wireless capacities allows organizations to focus on enhanced customer relations (Business Wire, 2003). It is obvious that wireless technology applications have no limitations or restrictions.

3 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Mobility of enterprise known as the trend toward a shift in work habits, with more employees working outside the office with the use of mobile devices to perform business tasks required capacity of an organization by allocating resources and managing them efficiently to optimize height level of return. In the process of doing this, different challenges to develop mobility strategy and its impact on business models are encountered which are stated as follows:

i. There are some factors ascribed to the challenges depriving organizations of staying strong within the competitive market which are: swift increase in competition, new business models, changes in market and technological structures and so on.

ii. Another challenge is th
e integration of hardware, software, platform and giving consultancy and flexibility to customers according to their needs. Recent global economic recessions force most organizations to reduce their cost of operation at every possible means and invested more on the mobility of enterprises.

iii. Shifts in technology can also be regarded as a big threat to some organizations as a result of regular upgrade in technology to remain competent among the competitors in the industry as growth opportunity creates severe competitions and influence pricing strategy.

However, despite the difficulty of the enterprise mobility products and services integration and other related factors still has future growth opportunity and that’s the way to grow for future. Mobility has a strong implication in the process of the product and services development of organization and strategy for future growth in enterprise solutions business. Managing the difficulty leads organization towards industry leadership (Rebecca et al., 1990).

4 GOAL OF THE RESEARCH

The main goal of this research is to explore wireless and mobile technological impact analysis on an organization’s business management development and future strategies.

5 PROPOSED METHODOLOGY

The research based on technological implications on consumer, business process and strategy, nature of primary data, reliability on the data acquired and accessibility due to the nature of confidentiality of business strategy was seen as a major force that has been encountered.

Interviews will be conducted, academic articles and other reliable sources were used for considering and balancing among perceptions of different stake holders. Manufacturing industry was used as a case study and adopted within research strategy.

The use of multiple data collection methods such as ethnographic observations, key informant interviews and the collection and content analysis of relevant documents comprised of financial report which was quantitative in nature contributed in developing background of the study (Heidegger, 2005).

6 CONCLUSION

Nowadays, costs of communication between buyers and sellers are not as important as the value of the goods and services sold. According to Bill Gates, (2003), described the performance of wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) as incredible. It is of much significance when there is connection everywhere, on a journey or within the home, in order to allow various electronic devices to communicate with each other, or even walking from one place to another with the use of handy device.

Most of employees appreciates being active rather than bored while working in order to deliver goods and services effectively and efficiently. The wireless world of applications may possibly not measure up to a customer’s real world experience.

Every organization needs to understand the consequence of every wireless technology and what it means to the company in terms of establishing a sound relationship with the customers. Relationship established with the customers appears to be unending if organization keeps improving on their wireless technology.

Increase in the reputation of enterprise mobility gives dexterity and optimizes performance in real time. Customer Relationship Management, Human Resource Management practices, Inventory monitoring, mobile purchasing and workforce automation are transformed through the influence of wireless and mobile in cloud infrastructure to generate rapid business information and therefore create competitive leadership.
