‘ What is reentry? Is it effective?
This is when someone has been incarcerated for a long period of time, and now they are released and returning to society. Or they may be getting out on good behavior and they could be placed on parole or probation to serve the remainder of their time. Reentry uses a program targeted at promoting the effective reconnection of getting offenders back into communities and society after they are released from prison or jail. A reentry program, that involves a comprehensive case manager, is intended to assist offenders in acquiring the life skills needed to succeed in the community and become law-abiding citizens. A variety of programs are used to assist offenders in the reentry process, including prerelease programs, drug rehabilitation and vocational training, educational programs, and work programs. These programs are very effective. They help those individuals that are in need and who feel that they are being stressed by society. Many individuals who are released from prison or jail don’t have any place to go so sometimes shelters will put them up for a few days until they get a job. This way they can prove to their parole officer that they are trying to do better and that are not going to become repeat offenders. Some individuals do so well that they become mentors to younger individuals that are going down the same path that they went down themselves. Reentry is a life-changing experience for a lot of individuals who take advantage of the opportunity that is given to them.
