Path and perspective

I was overwhelmed with joy, when i saw this opportunity coming my way which ensured me the path and perspective in which i am able to share my thoughts about the extravagant experience i have had while studying this module CONTEMPORARY MARKETING STRATEGY. This module had been a stepping stone for my career which was blessed with the gift of a tutor like  MR. MARC PHERSON, who taught us and cleared the path for success, i can say he really made it easy for us to understand the overall module which comprised of various  marketing theories, concepts, practical approaches, debates which were not exactly held in the seminar sessions but the participation by the students and the guidelines and feedback provided in the sessions by our module tutor helped a lot in seeking practical and general knowledge about the working and rendering of an business organisations.

We were been assigned different case studies for every individual portfolio submission, and in our seminar session we had discussions about the use of different theories required in the respective assignment and were given ideas as in how we can implement those theories in our case studies. Case studies were related to different aspects of the companies which taught us about the companies like IKEA,  SLENDERTONE, NANOPHASE etc which gave us a broader perspective as in how does a company handles its issues, clients , what marketing strategies does it implement which leads the company to attain profits. These helped me to reach at a certain level of education as i had never done such an in depth and more of a practical study about any company.

Now when i discuss about the lectures conducted during the entire module , has made me realise that i was down the sand when i entered this university i mean i was only known with the theortical facts of examinations which didn’t allow me to gain the practical knowledge, but the theories and the facts about various aspects of marketing and facts about various international company profounded my knowledge to a wider scale lending me a person who can actually implement and can work upon the assigned task in practicality.

The first non assessed case study of Nike was assigned to us as a trial case so that we can start getting an overview about the course work and the aspects which are been covered in this particular module. When i started off with my first case study i was seemed to be in a deep trouble i found myself into a pot hole because i really was unaware about how shall i jort down the assignment ,but then in are seminar sessions our tutor helped us out by discussing the case and giving us innovative ideas so that we can comprise them with our point of view in the case. Later on, when i started implementing those views which were taught to me in my assignment i really started appreciating the fact of making an appropriate use of these theories and marketing practises. After submitting these individual cases we were also given a feedback upon our submitted coursework and whenever we wanted individual feedback our module leader would always be ready to provide us with it which have been very beneficial in working out the rest of individual course work and i improved a lot in my writing skills and referencing my work style etc.

The major practical example which helped me gaining the live instance of all the facts and figures which work out in an organization was from our residential trip at Liverpool, this was the most memorable experience for me as it helped me to learn all the basic fundamentals and the core concepts of marketing filed as we were shown the Art Gallery, Cavern Club, Mersey Fairy, Museum, we also had an experience of visiting the Wirral Area of Liverpool which is known to be Port Sunlight Village and we were shown a small documentary about the establishment of the village the museum etc. Never the less, we were given the task of presenting on the aforesaid visits which proved to be a great challenge as this activity was a group activity and this actually helped us to develop our skills and refine are thoughts as there were international students abounding from different culture, speaking different languages and this actually helped in developing team spirit in our selves an motivated us to assign a benchmark and developed team spirit. This experience also made us very responsible in order to submit our work on time. The presentation task also encouraged me to eradicate stage fear from myself and developed self confidence in me to face number of people and share my views and ideas which initially i used to hesitate to potray only with a fear that my ideas probably would be misunderstood. But now i have become pretty confident and ready to face any challenges which thrive on me.The portfolio submission as proved to be exciting enough as we got the feedback from our tutor about it which answered almost all the doubts and queries which i had in my mind regarding the outlay of the overall preview.

Lastly, now i would talk about my final submission which is about marketing plan of a particular firm this assignment gave us knowledge about various theories such as PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, value chain, market analysis etc. It was a real challenge working on this plan as i gathered tremendous amount of knowledge about the company which i had chosen and also gathered all the facts and figures , the marketing strategy that the company follows etc., which has actually made me illiterate by studying this wonderful market all over the globe.

To conclude, i would say that studying this module was a wonderful, exciting experience as well as very knowledgeable experience which has actually mould me into a would be furnished marketer and to face the future challenged bodly, effectively and in most efficient manner.
