WHAT IS THE FOCUSED PURPOSE OF YOUR FEATURE ARTICLE?

The purpose of my feature article is to get people thinking about Trumps use of the media and how it affecting the world. For example how he created the Fake News phenome which took over the globe. Get people thinking about is the way Trump uses the social media platform Twitter if it’s a god thing or not. Get people to questions this whole idea of what a “modern president” really is.

INFORMATION GATHERED

“I doubt I would be here if it weren’t for social media, to be honest with you.”

“Tweeting is like a typewriter – when I put it out, you put it immediately on your show.”

“When somebody says something about me, I am able to go bing, bing, bing and I take care of it. The other way, I would never be get the word out.”

“The media is fake. . . . The media is really the word – I think one of the greatest of all terms I’ve come up with is fake. I guess other people have used it perhaps over the years, but I’ve never noticed it.”

– President Trump in an interview with Mike Huckabee on Oct. 7, 2017

“Fake news the enemy of the people” National Debate

#ModernPresident or “#FakeNews?”

How one man and his use of social media shaped his campaign and landed him in the highest job in the nation, the president.
Did the media shape the way America voted in the 2016 presidential election? The 2016 presidential election has been one of the most documented and controversial presidential elections of modern times. This is largely because of the man who won it, Donald Trump. Trump ran one of the most wild and controversial campaigns. One thing that trumps campaign gathered was a lot of media attention. Many say that trump owes his success to the way that he controlled the media throughout his campaign.

Tweeting President

One way in particular is trumps use of Twitter. Mr Trump became well known for his controversial tweets which always gathered media attention. Trumps use of twitter is very different and he describes it as being a modern president. Trump himself says “I doubt I would be here if it weren’t for social media, to be honest with you.” And he has a very good point. Trumps has taken advantage of a modern-day platform and used it to shape his campaign. One of the stratergies associated with trumps use of twitter is that it reached a large audience, a lot of which is young people. By engaging these young people this may make them more inclined to vote because voting is not compulsory in America. In a modern world this was a very new idea of a president elect using twitter as a driving force for his campaign. Whether this is something we can expect to see more of in the future ewe will have to wait and see. One thing that is clear though is trump isn’t afraid to speak his mind on the platform and this has landed him in hot water before. However with this comes publicity and media coverage and well as the saying says ” There’s no such thing as bad publicity” The media itself played a “Yuge” roll in trumps campaign.

Fake News

Fake News is a phenomenon captivated the globe and the driving force behind this was Trump. Trump used the label fake news to shadow doubt over any news story or subject which he didn’t like. This became incredibly powerful. This ability to control the media is something trump is well known for. So what is fake news? Fake News is a term which is used to label stories fabricated news. Normally this is used in news stories which are simply made up and not true however trumps use of the term is very deferent. Trump used the term fake news over any story which he didn’t like a believed was “fake news” a great example of this is his inauguration. Trump took to twitter claiming that his inauguration had attracted the largest crowd ever. Fouled cried the media with many media outlets displaying images comparing the 2016 Inauguration to Obamas 2009 Inauguration. Trump labelled this as fake news and said that the images had been fabricated. Trump has attacked media outlets multiple times over articles which he didn’t like.

Trumps use of media in general was the driving force behind his successful presidential campaign. 2 years on Trump still has a strong hold on the media. Trumps use of twitter was unlike anything seen before and was a huge driving force within his campaign. Trump made headlines across the world but eh also made it very clear which headlines he wanted to make headlines through the labelling of Fake News. Without a doubt the media shaped and influenced peoples vote. So is Donald Trump and his use of the media an example of a modern president or is this all just fake news?
