Paste your essay in here…My teaching philosophy is a reflection of my own beliefs, experience, training, and desire to be a credible role model for my students by equipping them both personally and professionally for a successful life in whatever journey they may take.  The first time I taught, I knew I had found my calling which has stayed with me.  My excitement and joy for teaching lights a fire deep in my soul and allows me to create a learning environment for my students where they can explore ideas that interest them.  My passion for teaching goes beyond just the basic teaching, I want to empower and nurture my students to become successful in life either as an entrepreneur or in the corporate world.

As an educator, my style of teaching ebbs and flows depending upon the make-up of the class.  When teaching, I have to engage all levels of students from the gifted to those with attention deficit tendencies.  As a result, I have been able to develop a balanced mixture of teaching styles that crosses all students in the classroom.  I don’t have just one style of teaching, I adapt to the needs of my students and this is challenging but rewarding when I know I have reached every student.

My number one goal is to have a positive impact on my students.  My greatest satisfaction is knowing and watching my students grow into productive adults by using the skills they learned in my class.  I want to make sure the material I am teaching is meaningful to the students and that my students feel empowered by creating an environment where they are hungry and motivated to succeed and learn.  It is rewarding when I can see students who see value in the material they are learning and realize this class and its material will help them to succeed in both their personal and professional lives regardless of their career path.

I believe my role is to encourage students to believe in themselves and their abilities.  My enthusiasm, passion, and love for teaching shows and resonates with students through their engagement and participation in this class.  For example, I led an entrepreneurship class where students had to set up their own small business and after the course was over four out of ten students continued their small business and three of the ten went on to further their education in entrepreneurship with the goal to start another small business.  Watching and engaging students through blending the classroom with the real world is powerful because it leaves my students wanting more knowledge.  I believe it is important to challenge students through empowering them to express their ideas and opinion as well as encouraging them to participate in all classroom activities and discussions.

I believe it is important to create an active learning environment which includes real life activities, textbook, lecture, discussions, projects, case analysis, and experiential exercises.  I am only as effective in my class by the amount of preparation I do for the class.  To ensure the class is current and relevant I continuously do research on best practices and examples to incorporate into the curriculum so my classroom and course is thought of as one that is innovative, educational, and hands-on.  I also feel it is very important to mentor my current and former students to ensure they are successful now and in the future.  It is important to me that my students have a passion for learning and want to learn how they can be better today than they were yesterday.  I teach my students how to overcome adversity, be open to change, persistence, and collaboration.

I’ve learned the best way to inspire students is through an open environment which promotes honesty, respect, integrity, and a willingness to do what is expected.  It is important for my students to understand my expectation of them as well as what my students expectations are for me.  I am only as good of an educator as my students make me.  I am always stepping outside of the box and my comfort zone to bring the best possible learning experience to my student through innovative, real world, and hands on applications and skills.  In addition, I believe I should coach and cheer my students to set goals for themselves and assist them in achieving those goals.  My students are capable of doing anything and everything because I empower them to be the best they can be through creativity, working individually or in small groups, and to effectivity communicate their ideas.  At the end of my class, I want my students to have the skills, marketability, and knowledge of practical applications of the business world, as well as, have an opportunity to excel in whatever career choice they make because they had the best possible learning experience that allowed them to be creative, identified their talents and weaknesses and capitalized on their strengths and taught them how to communicate their ideas and concerns effectively.

Entrepreneurship isn’t a single mindset but a mindset that equips students with skills, concepts, and techniques that will help them to succeed in any career path they choose to take.  My students know I am committed to helping them learn to succeed and be successful in life through empowering them.  I have such a strong passion and love for teaching because I get the opportunity to interact with students and help them learn and figure out what they are passionate and enthusiastic about and what inspires them.  This interaction is rewarding because I am able to watch students overcome challenges as they reach for the stars.    I believe each of my students can make a change for the better in the world, all they need are the right tools and my goal is to give them the toolbox with all the necessary tools and more to make that happen.

As a professor, I believe my role is to educate students so they continuously step outside of their comfort zone and aspire for greatness.  For me, teaching is an ongoing journey of lifelong learning and self- improvement.  I want to be the one person who has a positive impact on my students.  I want every student’s life I come in contact with see a professor who is committed and cared enough to give them the tools and empowerment they needed to make a difference in this world.  Nothing is more rewarding than to see your student fulfill their dreams in whatever path they choose in life, whether it is as an entrepreneur or an employee.

William A. Ward said it best about teachers …”The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.  The superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires.”  This is true.  I reflect upon those teachers who had a lasting impact on my life and realize how powerful and inspirational they were to me and I want to be that teacher to my students.  I want all my students to be inspired to be and do greatness, no matter how big or small.
