Asia is well known for the model minority. Multiple ethnic categories with different cultural aspects that reflect highly of their achievements, historical background or current issues. A real example would be the comparison of Japanese and Cambodians. Although they proceed to be one of the highly innovative countries in the world, they also proceed to be one with several issues. For that reason, Japanese and Cambodians are two divergent ethnic groups that are almost incompatible concerning the matter of higher education, food and cuisine and different experience in work and labor.

Higher Education  

In addition, higher education has three levels primary, secondary and tertiary. Tertiary is furthering education after secondary in universities or colleges. The higher education act progressed by the administration of Johnson to make college affordable, increase federal funds and college access to low-income families. According to Samuel D Museus and Julie J. Park (2015), Asian American is the most misconstrue in higher education. Over time Asian American have witness affirmative action, data disaggregation, and minority-serving institutions.

Japan is distinguished by students great achievements. Japanese individuals are often targeted out of larger establishments on needs of ethnic minorities in higher education. As  Robert and etc(2014) agreed that “Scholar view Asian American as the invisible Americans” and are considered to be “ the third minority groups after Latinos and African American.” However, many agree that affirmative action has lead minority students to have acceptance to universities, although affirmative might be seen as a discrimination, other tend to view it as a positive reinforcement. Japan is more than a homogenous culture but also socially, economically and ethically. Individuals form their identity by any category they belong: family,  school and any other class they identify with.

As for the notion of education less Japanese are studying in the US. A study by Mainichi has done in 2011 claims that Japanese students see little benefits or none in the US while students from Asia country are expanding. Overall International students were great money resources for the United States although after 9/11 it was bound to decrease. Japanese also have language barriers which prevent them to communicate. Most individuals don't register for university but to ESL classes to learn English and go back to their home country. Data disaggregation is also one of the biggest when Japanese students seek help stereotyping towards a model majority.

In comparison, Cambodian Americans are confronted with challenges in education. In a 2000 census, half of Cambodian Americans in California had less than a high school diploma and less than 9% with a college degree. This situation is perceivable throughout the whole country: however, these style among Cambodians Americans dispute the notation of the U.S society adopted all Asian American being model minority. Likewise, the triumph of the educational attainment, it does not relate to many individuals leading to overgeneralizations from which the success of subgroups conceals the challenges faced by other ethnic subgroups.

As for the educational policy typically disregard the obligations to the country's underprivileged communities. The aggregate Asian American students in homogenous groups of high achieving students that admission professionals overlook Cambodian American students as different. Similarity, both Japanese and Cambiona have suffered the same issues coming to a new country creating opportunities, the model minority which creates complicates who seek help and, disaggregated data which prevents to develop programs to help both minority groups.

Food and Cuisine

Food has been the connection to our culture and a representation of our identity. The meaning of food incorporated with who prepares it eats it, and how it is received is a form of communication. Practices, rituals, and perspective that involves food are the eye to our basic belief about ourselves. Japan has been an influence for the united states, it ought to ask people about a Japanese dish they have eaten before, they would encounter eating sushi. Dr. Time highlights “Japanese cuisine had made an impact on American and Europeans menus.” Thus Japanese cuisine has an increasing allure for American plates. Japanese restaurants started gaining popularity after world war II. Japanese restaurants flourished to America by a man named Daisuke Utagawa who opened the first sushi restaurant in Washington DC. As for Cambodians after fleeing their home country in search of better quality of life, the donut shops were a chance of a way to survive and part of Cambodian life and values. In the article, Cambodian Donut Shops and  The Negation of  Identity in Los Angeles explored the idea of Cambodian donut shops becoming the principal sites of cultural negotiation in Los Angeles. From that part on, Cambodians started the process of owning their own donut shop and passing on their traditions. Ku reported that Authenticity food is always supersized when so-call ethnic, regional, or national cuisines are in the plate. (3) Authenticity food in the US is a battle of which restaurants are authenticity and which aren't, different individuals say if the food isn't cooked by a person who represents that food it's not authentic.

Pop Culture

More and more Japanese book is being stocked up in the American bookshelves.

Several people in the US may know Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball Z. All these characters were design with big eyes and unique body shape. The characters came from Japan. Amine has been a big movement in the Japanese culture followed throughout the US. Tezuka created manga and anime, he’s primary show were Astro Boy in the United States. The difference between manga and anime is that manga covers all sort of cartoons, animation, and comics. Anime is the amination of the manga. Although for many people youtube seems useless, everyday videos are made for entertainment, help, advertise and send a message to the billions of people watching. Japanese entertainment that reached the US is famous youtube star Hikakin. Hiking is the creator with the most youtube subs. He went viral after his famous super Mario beatbox with 3.8 million views. Apart from Hikakin, another successful youtube is Risa Sekine on her makeup videos making over one million and becoming Japan's first youtube millionaire.

In brief, both Japan and Cambodia people had made a huge impact in the United States. The United States is known as the melting pot, and indeed if we look closely every state has their unique contribution all over the world. Japan and Cambodia have different situations regarding higher education, food and cuisine, and pop culture. Japan is known to have excellent students who come to study abroad to practice in English, on the other hand, Cambodians struggle to communicate in English. In addition, Japan is known for their sushi, which now in the US is a popular dish. And Cambodia is known for their family business owned donut shops. Finally, Japanese pop culture is famous for their unique cartoons like anime and manga, and YouTubers like Hikakin and Risa Sekine.
